Saudis were pushing the US to provide assistance for their military campaigns in Yemen at least since 2009

 ... and Trump finally kept the worst part of the Obama legacy that leads to war with Iran

As we already wrote, just when Trump fired the most bloodthirsty, anti-Iran neocon, John Bolton, who was seeking to drag the US into a war with Iran at least since 2003, these "spectacular" drone attacks on two major oil facilities in Saudi Arabia "coincidentally" happened.

Everything shows that the ruthless neocons around Trump are gradually and methodically escalating tension with Iran in order to achieve the perfect timing: a US invasion against Iran right after the beginning of Trump's second term.

Trump tweeted that he will "hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!"

The tweet generated a storm of reactions against Trump's obvious alignment with Saudi demands. US presidential candidate, Tulsi Gabbard, characteristically stated:

                    Despicable. Trump's offering to place our military assets under the command of a foreign country—Saudi Arabia—is a disgrace and betrayal of my patriotic brothers and sisters in uniform and to our Constitution. We are not your prostitutes. You are not our pimp.

A WikiLeaks paper from the Public Library of US Diplomacy archive gives additional evidence which justifies Gabbard's position. It seems that the Saudis were exercising pressure on US administrations at least since 2009, continuously demanding assistance for their military campaigns in Yemen.

Some key parts (most important highlighted):

                    Saudi aerial bombardments and artillery shelling have continued in recent days against Houthi targets in the Saudi-Yemeni border area. [...] Assistant Minister of Defense Khalid bin Sultan expressed frustration with the USG's slow response to Saudi Arabia's urgent requests for military equipment, particularly more surveillance and intelligence support.

                    While it is clear that Houthi fighters continue to engage and harass the Saudis, there is little credible evidence to suggest any recent increase in Houthi forces or effectiveness. 

It seems that, after destroying any positive remnant from the Obama legacy (like the Iran nuclear deal), Trump amplifies all the bad parts of it. That is, for example, providing further military assistance to the Saudis, just by literally taking their word and without any substantial evidence about Iran's alleged hostile actions.

All signs show that Trump is following the neocon plan to the letter.
