Part 3 - The Assange case

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is being held at the Belmarsh high security prison in London for nearly five years now. The events prior to his arrest consist perhaps one of the most blatant proofs of the slide of the extreme center towards fascism.

The unimaginable invasion of the British police in the Ecuadorian embassy took place under Trump presidency and with the blessing of the government of traitor Lenin Moreno. Yet, the wild persecution of Assange had already begun under the Obama presidency.

And while it is certain that the US imperialists wanted Assange's head because he exposed some of their most horrific war crimes through WikiLeaks, especially the Democrats got furious mostly because WilkiLeaks published Hilllary Clinton's emails.

And that's because the emails revealed a dirty war held by the establishment of the Democratic party against Bernie Sanders. Corporate Democrats saw with terror Sanders' popularity rising dangerously, especially among young Americans. All the alarms were activated as their "beloved queen" Hillary Clinton could lose the leadership of the party to Sanders, and therefore, the party could slip dangerously to the left.

Since that moment, Assange became the number one target for the extreme center corporate Democrats, as he has been considered responsible for the defeat of their beloved queen to Trump. Indeed, many progressive voters refused to support Hillary Clinton as they became quite angry for the party's war against Sanders, revealed by WikiLeaks.

As we were writing these lines, the wonderful news came suddenly to surprise us. After 1901 days in prison, Julian Assange is finally free! And indeed, as WikiLeaks pointed out, this is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations.

Thanks to thousands of people across the globe who realized what was at stake, Assange escaped the last moment from the hands of the ruthless Washington imperialist hawks.

The end to the Freedom of Press in the West has been avoided the last moment, for now. Otherwise, we would now be talking about the complete transformation of the "liberal" extreme center into a fascist regime.
