Mass
layoffs and 36-monthly contracts without compensations
According to
"Eleftheros Typos" newspaper, the technical teams opened a
new discussion for the changes in minimum wage and the representation
of workers in declaring strikes. Another bill, which will open the
door for contracts without any restrictions instead of current
employment contracts, is about to pass.
Troika and
especially IMF are seeking to force the Greek government to vote for
the whole neoliberal agenda concerning labor rights. Some dialogues
between IMF and government officials are indicative of the pressure
and persistence of IMF, especially concerning mass layoffs.
IMF seeks to
change monthly layoffs limits and will start by abolishing the
authority of ministers to approve mass layoffs.
Indicatively,
the agenda contains, among other things, unlimited number of layoffs
for businesses with working stuff above 300, considering some special
criteria for each sector and activity.
It is worth to
remember that in 2012, the minimum wage in Greece has been reduced by
22% according to the Troika demand

and that a year ago, 11 multinational corporations asked from the
Greek government to drop minimum wage at 300 euros!
