“'Θέλω τα παιδιά μου να ζήσουν σε συνθήκες ειρήνης και ασφάλειας, χωρίς φόβο, σε έναν καλύτερο κόσμο', λέει η 28χρονη Nazdar, γυναίκα του Faraydun, στην Ύπατη Αρμοστεία. Η Nazdar και τα δύο της παιδιά, ένα αγόρι και ένα κορίτσι, φέρουν ακόμα τα τραύματα από τη δοκιμασία που πέρασαν και από τους φόνους, τις απαγωγές και τους βιασμούς των Yazidi μέσα και γύρω από την πόλη Sinjar στο βόρειο Ιράκ.”

“Ο Faraydun και η Nazdar έφυγαν από το χωριό τους, Zoraba, όταν μαχητές άρχισαν να απειλούν όλη την περιοχή του Sinjar, πατρίδα των Yazidi στην επαρχία της Ninewa εδώ και αιώνες. 'Δεν μπορούσα να περιμένω μέχρι να μας επιτεθούν. Ήμουν σίγουρος ότι κάποια στιγμή θα γινόταν', δηλώνει ο Faraydun. 'Έτσι, τρεις μέρες πριν τη μεγάλη επίθεση, φύγαμε για το Dohuk [επαρχία του γειτονικού Ιρακινού Κουρδιστάν]' προσθέτει ο 32χρονος οικοδόμος.”

“... παρά το ότι κατάφεραν να φτάσουν στην Ελλάδα ύστερα από ένα επίπονο ταξίδι, αυτοί οι ευάλωτοι άνθρωποι εξακολουθούν να αντιμετωπίζουν τεράστια εμπόδια. Όπως η μάχη που χρειάζεται να δίνουν καθημερινά για να τα βγάλουν πέρα στην Ελληνική πρωτεύουσα και ο κίνδυνος να τεθούν υπό κράτηση και να απελαθούν, εάν τους σταματήσουν και τους κάνουν έλεγχο για έγγραφα ταυτοποίησης, τα οποία οι περισσότεροι δεν έχουν.”

“Ο Adnan, φίλος του Faraydun, αναφέρει ότι ήδη επέστρεψαν κάποιον από την ομάδα τους πίσω στο Ιράκ, παρότι έπρεπε να υποβάλλεται σε αιμοκάθαρση κάθε τρεις μέρες. Φέρεται μάλιστα να αποφάσισε να μην κάνει αίτημα ασύλου και να συμφώνησε στον επαναπατρισμό του, όταν οι αστυνομικοί του είπαν ότι αλλιώς θα έμενε υπό κράτηση για ενάμιση χρόνο.”

“Η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες κάνει προσπάθειες να αναδείξει το δράμα των Yazidi μέσω των ελληνικών μέσων ενημέρωσης και να ευαισθητοποιήσει τον κόσμο για τις ανάγκες τους. 'Οι Yazidi χρήζουν προστασίας και βοήθειας, δεν πρέπει να κρατούνται', τονίζει ο Γιώργος Τσαρμπόπουλος, επικεφαλής του Γραφείου της Υ.Α. στην Ελλάδα. 'Θα πρέπει να αντιμετωπίζονται όπως και οι Σύριοι πρόσφυγες, οι οποίοι επιτρέπεται να παραμείνουν για έξι μήνες στη χώρα, με δυνατότητα παράτασης', προσθέτει.”

“Στις αρχές του Αυγούστου, μαζί με μια ομάδα 80 περίπου ανθρώπων, κυρίως Yazidi αλλά και κάποιους Σύρους Χριστιανούς, διέσχισαν το ποτάμι του Έβρου προς την Ελλάδα. Οι διακινητές πήραν όσους τα κατάφεραν να περάσουν απέναντι στην Αθήνα σε ομάδες των δέκα. Όσοι περίμεναν να έρθει η σειρά τους έπρεπε να επιβιώσουν στα δάση χωρίς φαγητό και κατάλυμα.”

“Παρά τις προσπάθειες να διασφαλιστεί η πρόσβασή τους στη διαδικασία ασύλου και σε βοήθεια, όλοι οι Yazidi με τους οποίους μίλησε η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία ανέφεραν ότι δεν επιθυμούσαν να μείνουν στην Ελλάδα. Όλοι θέλουν να πάνε σε άλλες Ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, όπου έχουν στενούς συγγενείς.”

“Οι οικογένειες στο διαμέρισμα βοηθάνε η μία την άλλη. Για να κοιμηθούν περιμένει ο καθένας τη σειρά του, καθώς δεν υπάρχει αρκετός χώρος για να κοιμούνται όλοι ταυτόχρονα. Ανησυχούν όλοι τους για τα μέλη της οικογένειάς τους που άφησαν πίσω. 'Ευχαριστώ το Θεό που τα παιδιά μου είναι ασφαλή και του ζητώ να σώσει τους γονείς μου', δηλώνει η Nazdar.”
