Οι Έλληνες δεν έχουν πια τίποτα να χάσουν, μόνο την αξιοπρέπεια

Ο πατέρας μου ζει την έννατη δεκαετία της ζωής του. Αυτό σημαίνει πως σε ένα ιστορικό και όχι βιολογικό μέτρημα, έχει ζήσει ένα παγκόσμιο πόλεμο, έναν εμφύλιο πόλεμο στη χώρα και δύο δικτατορίες. Έζησε πάνω από έξι δεκαετίες δουλεύοντας ως οικοδόμος σε πρωτόγονες συνθήκες, κατάφερε να σπουδάσει τρία παιδιά και πρόσφατα κόντεψε να πεθάνει όταν κατέφυγε σε ένα δημόσιο ελληνικό νοσοκομείο και έμεινε στην ουρά με εκατοντάδες συνανθρώπους του μέχρι να τον εξετάσουν.

Έζησε όλη του τη ζωή θεωρώντας πως έχει σημασία να πορεύεται με αξιοπρέπεια, σα να ήταν αυτή η αξιοπρέπεια το κλειδί για έναν ειδικό παράδεισο. Καμιά φορά μου διηγείται ιστορίες από το παρελθόν που με τρομάζουν παρότι έχω γυρίσει όλο τον κόσμο ως πολεμικός ανταποκριτής από το 1991 ως σήμερα.

Πάνω από τη μισή του ζωή την πέρασε όπως και η πλειοψηφία των ελλήνων κατατετρεγμένος, με την απειλή πολιτικών διώξεων και εξορίας. Η οικογένειά του πολέμησε τους Ναζί, αλλά την Ελλάδα έμελλε να την κυβερνήσουν τα επόμενα χρόνια οι συνεργάτες των Ναζί, παρότι άλλοι την απελευθέρωσαν. Η απειλή πως μπορεί τη χώρα να την καταλάβουν κάποιοι “κομμουνιστές” δικαιολόγησε εκατοντάδες εγκλήματα. Ο πατέρας μου όπως και οι συνομήλικοί του τα έζησε όλα.

Οι αντιδημοκράτες έγιναν ξαφνικά υπερασπιστές της Δυτικής Δημοκρατίας επειδή υπήρχε η κομμουνιστική απειλή, κατέκλεψαν τη βοήθεια του Σχεδίου Μάρσαλ για την αναστύλωση της χώρας, δεν απαίτησαν να αποζημιωθεί η χώρα για τις πολεμικές καταστροφές αφού για πολλές από αυτές ήταν οι ίδιοι συμμέτοχοι και αφού κυβέρνησαν επί δεκαετίες έφαγαν και τις κοινοτικές επιχορηγήσεις της Ευρωπαικής Ένωσης.

Απ ό,τι θυμάμαι ο πατέρας μου δεν χόρεψε ποτέ συρτάκι, δεν τραγούδησε ανέμελα σε παραλίες, δεν κατανάλωσε περισσότερα από όσα παρήγαγε, όπως του αποδίδουν τα στερεοτυπικά σχήματα που χρησιμοποιούν ακόμη και ξένοι ηγέτες εναντίον της Ελλάδας. Αναγνωρίζω πολλές φορές στο πρόσωπό του έναν έλληνα Ζορμπά αλλά αυτός δεν είναι της ανεμελιάς και του γλεντιού, είναι της αξιοπρέπειας και του φιλότιμου, μιας λέξη που δεν υπάρχει σε άλλες γλώσσες.

Δεν κράτησε ποτέ κακία στους ξένους. Ούτε στους Γερμανούς που ισοπέδωσαν τη χώρα, ούτε στους Αμερικανούς που επέβαλαν την κυριαρχία τους. Ούτε καν στους Τούρκους με τους οποίους υπάρχει προαιώνια αντιπαλότητα στην Ελλάδα. Τα καλοκαίρια, αν κάποιος ξένος καθίσει δίπλα του αισθάνεται την ανάγκη να τον κεράσει γιατί έκανε την τιμή να επισκεφτεί τη χώρα του.

Τα τελευταία πέντε χρόνια ο πατέρας μου, μου τηλεφωνεί σχεδόν κάθε μέρα από τη Λέσβο όπου μένει, για να με ρωτήσει τι θα γίνει με τη χώρα. Αν θα καταρρεύσουμε, αν τα εγγόνια του θα γίνουν δούλοι, αν ζούμε τον Γ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, αν ισχύουν όσα λένε τα τηλεοπτικά κανάλια που ανήκουν στη διεφθαρμένη ελίτ της χώρας. Ζει όπως όλοι οι έλληνες άλλωστε, με τον χειρότερο φόβο που υπάρχει.Τον αόριστο φόβο που περικλείει τα πάντα, που μπορεί να φέρει τα χειρότερα που δεν γνωρίζεις. Περιμένει την ώρα της καταστροφής της χώρας και όπως όλοι οι έλληνες πια ,εύχεται ακόμη και αυτή την καταστροφή από το συνεχές μαρτύριο που ανακυκλώνεται στο όνομα ενός κατασκευασμένου ενοχικού.

Κάπου εδώ θα τελειώσω με τον πατέρα μου και θα πάρω τη σκυτάλη εγώ. Αυτή η επικείμενη καταστροφή δεν είναι τίποτα άλλο από την απόδειξη αναποτελεσματικότητας της Ευρώπης. Δεκαετίες μετά τη δημιουργία της ενιαίας Ευρώπης, το μόνο που διαχέεται στον Ευρωπαικό Νότο είναι ο φόβος και η φτώχεια. Η Ευρωπαική Ένωση αποτυγχάνει κάθε μέρα να επιδείξει τα μεγάλα της ιδεώδη, την αλληλεγγύη, την ενιαία αντιμετώπιση των προβλημάτων. Σαν ξεπεσμένος λογιστής κρατάει ένα τεφτέρι στο οποίο περιγράφει τις ζωές και τις ανάγκες των ανθρώπων.

Αυτή η Ευρώπη αναπαράγει κάθε μέρα το δομικό της, το κατασκευαστικό της λάθος. Φτιάχτηκε με μοναδικό κοινό στοιχείο το νόμισμα, που κάλυψε φτιαχτά μια σειρά από ανισότητες. Τίποτα άλλο δεν είναι κοινό. Αυτά τα λάθη κατασκευής καλύπτονται κάθε μέρα πίσω από στερεοτυπικές κατασκευές, πως η Ευρώπη δεν μπορεί να προχωρήσει γιατί φταίνε οι κακοί έλληνες, ή οι τεμπέληδες Ισπανοί, ή οι αυταρχικοί Γερμανοί. Η αλήθεια είναι άλλη. Η Ευρώπη είναι σε κρίση γιατί οι κυβερνήσεις ανέλαβαν να κάνουν δημόσια τα χρέη των Τραπεζών. Παρότι οι νόμοι της αγοράς θα επέβαλαν να κλείσουν οι ζημιογόνες επιχειρήσεις, δηλαδή οι Τράπεζες, ένα άλλο στερεοτυπικό κατασκεύασμα πως “οι τράπεζες δεν γίνεται να καταρρεύσουν” κρατάει την Ευρώπη σε συνεχή κρίση με το πληρώνει τα σπασμένα της επιπολαιότητας και της κερδοσκοπίας των Τραπεζών.

Η Ελλάδα δεν μπορεί να πληρώσει το χρέος με όποιο τρόπο και αν δημιουργήθηκε (αυτό είναι μια μεγάλη κουβέντα). Η τιμωρία της Ελλάδας δεν αποκαθιστά τις οικονομικές ισορροπίες. Η χώρα είναι ισοπεδωμένη, έχει πέσει σε ύφεση από τα χρόνια λιτότητας εξαιτίας των λάθος συνταγών που τις επέβαλαν οι Ευρωπαίοι. Αντί σήμερα να αναγνωρίσουν το λάθος, επεκτείνουν τη συνταγή. Ακόμη και όσοι μπορούν να επενδύσουν δεν το κάνουν κάτω από το κλίμα ανασφάλειας που δημιουργούν Σόιμπλε και Νταιζελμπλουν με τις συνεχείς δηλώσεις για Grexit.

Η έξοδος της Ελλάδας από την Ευρώπη θα δημιουργήσει ένα ντόμινο καταστροφής. Το 2008 κατέρρευσε μια Τράπεζα στις ΗΠΑ και μαζί της κατέρρευσε η παγκόσμια οικονομία. Σκέπτεστε τι θα γίνει αν καταρρεύσει μια χώρα;

Η λύση δεν είναι η τιμωρία ή η έξοδος της Ελλάδας που θα απειλήσει τη σταθερότητα, αλλά να λυθεί το μεγάλο πολιτικό πρόβλημα της Ευρώπης. Ο τρόπος που λειτουργεί ψευδοενιαία. Όπως η Γερμανία δεν είχε δίκιο στον Β΄Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, μπορεί να μην έχει και τώρα. Δεν υπάρχει ευρωπαική προοπτική αν αυτοδιαψευστεί η ίδια η ικανότητα της Ευρώπης να λειτουργήσει με όλες τις αξίες της και όχι μόνο με τα κεφάλαια.

Δεν ξέρω ποια θα είναι η επόμενη μέρα, αλλά στην Ελλάδα αρχίζει να χαράζει η μέρα του ανθρώπου που είναι σε απόγνωση. Δεν έχει πλέον τίποτα να χάσει εκτός από αυτό που για τον πατέρα μου είναι το κλειδί του ειδικού Παραδείσου: την αξιοπρέπεια.
