Lenín Moreno lidera presidenciales de Ecuador

"Esto recién comienza. De aquí en adelante todos a trabajar por el país, por nuestro amado Ecuador", destacó Moreno desde Quito.

Lenín Moreno lidera las elecciones presidenciales de Ecuador con el 51,16 por ciento (5.041.982 votos) ante 48,84 por ciento (4.812.962 votos) que acumula su contrincante en el balotaje, el banquero Guillermo Lasso, con el 98,99 por ciento de las actas escrutadas por el Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE)

"Esto recién comienza. De aquí en adelante todos a trabajar por el país, por nuestro amado Ecuador. ¡Lo haremos en paz y armonía!", exclamó Moreno al celebrar el resultado en el norte de Quito, en compañía del actual presidente Rafael Correa.

También se refirió a los mensajes de felicitación que recibió de líderes de América Latina, una vez conocido los resultados oficiales del balotaje. "Gracias a los presidentes latinoamericanos que han llamado para felicitarnos", dijo.

Tras el cierre de los colegios electorales, Moreno declaró a la prensa ecuatoriana que será el presidente de todos "y ustedes me van a ayudar. Cuando termine mi mandato podremos decir: se erradicó la desnutrición infantil, la crisis de vivienda, la pobreza extrema y la corrupción".

La victoria del binomio Lenín Moreno-Jorge Glas, por Alianza PAIS, representa la continuidad de la Revolución Ciudadana, proceso reivindicador que desde 2007 fue impulsado por Correa.

Moreno también lideró las votaciones en la primera vuelta del 19 de febrero con más de 50 por ciento de los votos. El abanderado del Movimiento Alianza PAIS fue propuesto por el presidente Correa para fungir como su sucesor político en la dirección de Ecuador y dar continuidad a la Revolución Ciudadana.

Como puntos fuertes de su plan de gobierno, Moreno plantea el refuerzo de la educación superior y mayores posibilidades a los ciudadanos que busquen ingresar al sistema educativo; en contraste, el candidato Guillermo Lasso prometía realizar recortes en áreas como educación, salud, seguridad interna y las fuerzas armadas.

Una de las propuestas más importantes en materia educativa es el aumento y ampliación de las becas para los jóvenes estudiantes y el manejo equitativo del sistema que las coordina.
