Δώστε δουλειές σε όλα τα ρομπότ

Οι θεωρίες για την «επέλαση» των ρομπότ, που θα μας πάρουν τις δουλειές, κατακλύζουν τα μέσα ενημέρωσης. Μια νέα μορφή «φουτουριστικού κομμουνισμού», όμως, έρχεται να ανατρέψει όσα μας έμαθαν για την αυτοματοποίηση.

Ένα χιουμοριστικό βιντεάκι που κυκλοφόρησε τις τελευταίες ημέρες από την εταιρεία ρομποτικής Boston Dynamic και δείχνει ένα ρομπότ να τα κάνει γης μαδιάμ καθώς προσπαθεί να τοποθετήσει ένα κουτί σε ένα ράφι, τροφοδότησε δεκάδες, σχεδόν πανομοιότυπους, τίτλους εφημερίδων σε όλο τον κόσμο: «Τα ρομπότ δεν θα μας πάρουν τις δουλειές… ακόμη». Η ανθρωπότητα φάνηκε να ξεφυσά με ανακούφιση καθώς ορισμένα από τα πιο εφιαλτικά σενάρια για το τέλος της ανθρώπινης εργασίας έπαιρναν μια μικρή αναβολή.

Ανάμεσα σε άλλες σκοτεινές (αν και συχνά αμφισβητούμενες) προβλέψεις, τα τελευταία χρόνια διαβάσαμε ότι: το 47% των θέσεων εργασίας στις ΗΠΑ θα καλυφθούν από ρομπότ στα επόμενα 20 χρόνια, το 60% όλων των επαγγελμάτων στον πλανήτη μπορούν να αυτοματοποιηθούν κατά τουλάχιστον 30% και εργασίες που σήμερα αμείβονται με 15 τρισεκατομμύρια δολάρια σύντομα θα πραγματοποιούνται από ρομπότ.

Ο συγγραφέας επιστημονικής φαντασίας Πίτερ Φρέιζ, στο βιβλίο του Four Futures, προχωρά το σενάριο της «ρομπο-αποκάλυψης» ένα βήμα παραπέρα εισάγοντας την ιδέα του εξτερμινισμού (exterminism): στο όχι και τόσο μακρινό μέλλον τα κύματα των ανέργων, τα οποία θα έχουν χάσει και τα τελευταία εργαλεία εργατικών διεκδικήσεων όπως οι απεργίες, θα αποτελούν άμεσο κίνδυνο για την επιβίωση των πλουσίων, οι οποίοι θα ελέγχουν τα ρομπότ.

Τότε, οι κάτοχοι των νέων μέσων παραγωγής θα εξετάσουν το ενδεχόμενο μαζικής εξόντωσης των ανέργων με τεχνικές που θα παραπέμπουν στο χιτλερικό ολοκαύτωμα.

Όπως συμβαίνει συχνά σε παρόμοιες καταστάσεις, οι μετριοπαθείς υπoστηρικτές του καπιταλιστικού συστήματος ή οι μετριοπαθείς επικριτές του (ανάλογα με το αν βλέπεις το ποτήρι μισο-γεμάτο ή μισο-ρεφορμιστικό) απαντούν σε αυτά τα εφιαλτικά σενάρια με εξίσου εφιαλτικά απλουστευτικές λύσεις.

Ο σοσιαλιστής, πρώην υποψήφιος των γαλλικών προεδρικών εκλογών, Μπενουά Αμόν πρότεινε τη θέσπιση ειδικής φορολογίας για ρομπότ, μέσω της οποίας το κράτος θα επιτυγχάνει αναδιανομή εισοδήματος για τα ασθενέστερα οικονομικά στρώματα. Πρόκειται για την ίδια γραμμή σκέψης που παλαιότερα μας έδωσε τον φόρο Τόμπιν, για τη φορολόγηση των χρηματοπιστωτικών συναλλαγών – μια ακόμη μετριοπαθή απόπειρα για έναν καπιταλισμό με… ανθρώπινο πρόσωπο.

Ευτυχώς, πολύ πιο αισιόδοξα είναι τα μηνύματα που έρχονται τα τελευταία χρόνια από το κίνημα του λεγόμενου «πολυτελούς κομμουνισμού», το οποίο βρήκε στέγη σε οργανώσεις όπως η FALC (Fully Automated Luxury Communism – Πλήρως Αυτοματοποιημένος Πολυτελής Κομμουνισμός).

Επαναλαμβάνοντας ένα όραμα, που διατυπώνεται με διαφορετική φρασεολογία εδώ και τουλάχιστον μισή χιλιετία, τα μέλη της FALC μιλούν για μια κοινωνία αυτοματοποιημένης «μετα-εργασίας» με 10ωρη εργάσιμη εβδομάδα, εγγυημένο ελάχιστο εισόδημα, δωρεάν υγεία, παιδεία, στέγαση κ.ο.κ. «Πάρτε για παράδειγμα την Uber», εξηγούσε στην εφημερίδα «Guardian» o Ααρόν Μπαστανί, συνδημιουργός της Novara Media, που συνδέεται με το κίνημα: «Μέχρι το 2030 θα διαθέτει ένα γιγαντιαίο δίκτυο αυτόματων αυτοκινήτων χωρίς οδηγό. Γατί όμως μια τέτοια εταιρεία πρέπει να είναι ιδιωτική και να λειτουργεί με επιδίωξη το κέρδος αντί να ανήκει, παραδείγματος χάριν, στις υπηρεσίες του δήμου;» αναρωτιέται ο Μπαστανί.

Η ομάδα Plan C, που επίσης ευαγγελίζεται τον «πολυτελή κομμουνισμό», δηλώνει ότι αντλεί τις ιδέες της από το «Κεφάλαιο» και τις «Βασικές γραμμές της κριτικής της πολιτικής οικονομίας (Grundrisse)» του Μαρξ, στα οποία όμως προσθέτει και πινελιές από την τριλογία επιστημονικής φαντασίας «Ο Κόκκινος Άρης» του Κιμ Στάνλεϊ Ρόμπινσον, στην οποία δημιουργείται μια σοσιαλιστική κοινωνία στον πλανήτη Άρη.

Απέναντι, λοιπόν, στις τρομολαγνικές προβλέψεις ότι τα «ρομπότ θα μας πάρουν τις δουλειές» οι υποστηρικτές της FALC και του Plan C απαντούν: «Ας έρθουν… και σύντομα».

Αυτό που όλες οι πλευρές δείχνουν βέβαια να ξεχνούν είναι ότι η απόλυτη αυτοματοποίηση της εργασίας δεν απειλεί μόνο τους εργαζομένους αλλά, σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις, και τους ιδιοκτήτες των μέσων παραγωγής, οι οποίοι χάνουν το βασικό μέσο κερδοφορίας – την υπεξαίρεση της υπεραξίας των εργατών.

Γι’ αυτόν τον λόγο, σε αρκετούς τομείς παραγωγής οι ιδιοκτήτες προτιμούν να μη χρησιμοποιούν ρομπότ αλλά μεγάλους αριθμούς χαμηλόμισθων και αναλώσιμων εργατών. Το ίδιο το οικονομικό σύστημα δηλαδή μπορεί να ακυρώσει ή να αναβάλει την εξέλιξη της τεχνολογίας προκειμένου να διατηρήσει τις παλιές μορφές εκμετάλλευσης, σε έναν ιδιότυπο λουδιτισμό των από πάνω.

Όπως εξηγούσε άλλωστε ο Αμερικανός οικονομολόγος Ντιν Μπέικερ, οι θεωρίες για την επέλαση των ρομπότ έρχονται απλώς να συσκοτίσουν άλλους σημαντικούς παράγοντες αύξησης της ανεργίας που δεν συνδέονται με την αυτοματοποίηση της παραγωγής.

Αν υπάρχει ένα σοβαρό πρόβλημα, εξηγεί ο Μπέικερ, δεν είναι ότι τα ρομπότ παίρνουν τις δουλειές των εργατών, αλλά ότι στο υπάρχον οικονομικό σύστημα λειτουργούν σαν εργαλεία για τη μεγαλύτερη συγκέντρωση πλούτου στα χέρια λίγων. Ενώ θα έπρεπε να είναι φτηνά και να βοηθούν τον άνθρωπο να αυξήσει την παραγωγικότητά του, λόγω του καθεστώτος ευρεσιτεχνιών και των μονοπωλίων που ελέγχουν τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα, παραμένουν ιδιαίτερα ακριβά στην παραγωγή τους και συνεχίζουν να ελέγχονται από μια μικρή ομάδα ανθρώπων.

Η λύση λοιπόν είναι προφανής – αν και διόλου εύκολη στην εφαρμογή της: Δώστε δουλειά σε όλα τα ρομπότ, κοινωνικοποιώντας όλα τα στάδια παραγωγής και καταργώντας το κέρδος προκειμένου να επιτρέψουμε στον άνθρωπο να ζήσει δημιουργικά, απελευθερωμένος από κάθε μορφή αλλοτριωμένης εργασίας.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’
