Κλίντον για πάντα

Αφότου Δημοκρατικοί και Ρεπουμπλικάνοι άρχισαν να ταυτίζονται στο σύνολο των θέσεων τους, η αντιπαράθεση έχασε κάθε πολιτικό στοιχείο και άρχισε να περιστρέφεται γύρω από την εικόνα που εκπέμπουν οι υποψήφιοι. Ακόμη και οι διαφορές που χαρακτήριζαν τα δύο κόμματα τη δεκαετία του ‘80 και του ’90 άρχισαν να ατονούν.

Ένα ζευγάρι αμερικάνων μεσοαστών κάθεται στο σαλόνι του σπιτιού του. «Σκεφτόμαστε να ανακαινίσουμε το σπίτι μας το 2016» λέει η γυναίκα. «Ο βασικός μας στόχος όμως» συμπληρώνει ο άντρας «είναι να μάθουμε το σκύλο μας να μην τρώει από τα σκουπίδια». Λίγα δευτερόλεπτα αργότερα εμφανίζεται και η πρώην υπουργός Εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ, Χίλαρι Κλίντον. «Έχω και εγώ σχέδια» λέει κοιτάζοντας την κάμερα «κατεβαίνω για πρόεδρος στις εκλογές του 2016».

Σε οποιαδήποτε πολιτισμένη χώρα του πλανήτη, εάν ένας υποψήφιος συνέκρινε την διεκδίκηση της προεδρίας με ένα σκύλο που πρέπει να μάθει να μην τρώει τα σκουπίδια, θα τερμάτιζε αυτομάτως την πολιτική του καριέρα. Στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες όμως αυτό ήταν το επίσημο τηλεοπτικό σποτ με το οποίο η Χίλαρι Κλίντον ανακοίνωνε ότι φιλοδοξεί να γίνει επικεφαλής μιας πυρηνικής δύναμης με στρατιωτικές δυνάμεις σε περισσότερες από 100 χώρες του κόσμου.

Είναι γνωστό εδώ και δεκαετίες ότι καθώς οι δυο κομματικοί σχηματισμοί άρχισαν να ταυτίζονται στο σύνολο των θέσεων τους, η αντιπαράθεση έχασε κάθε πολιτικό στοιχείο και άρχισε να περιστρέφεται γύρω από την εικόνα που εκπέμπουν οι υποψήφιοι. Ακόμη και οι διαφορές που χαρακτήριζαν Δημοκρατικούς και Ρεπουμπλικάνους τη δεκαετία του ‘80 και του ’90, όπως λόγου χάρη η πρόσδεση κάθε κόμματος σε διαφορετικά τμήματα της αστικής τάξης άρχισαν να ατονούν. Στις τελευταίες εκλογικές αναμετρήσεις ήταν δύσκολο να πεις με βεβαιότητα ποιος υποψήφιος στηρίζει περισσότερο το χρηματιστηριακό κεφάλαιο της Γουόλ Στριτ και ποιος ρίχνει το βάρος του στον εξαγωγικό τομέα και τη βαριά βιομηχανία των ΗΠΑ.

Η σαρωτική χρηματιστικοποίηση της λεγόμενης «αληθινής» οικονομίας, αλλά και το γεγονός ότι οι μεγαλύτερες πολυεθνικές χρηματοδοτούσαν ταυτόχρονα τις προεκλογικές εκστρατείες και των δυο κομμάτων, θόλωσε και την τελευταία σημαντική διαφορά. Οι υποψήφιοι έμειναν λοιπόν να κονταροχτυπιούνται για ζητήματα όπως οι εκτρώσεις, ο γάμος ομοφυλόφιλων ζευγαριών και κυρίως η εικόνα που εκπέμπουν στη μεγάλη δεξαμενή ψηφοφόρων των μεσαίων στρωμάτων. Ακόμη και η επανα-πολιτικοποίηση των εκλογών που προέβαλε ο Ομπάμα πριν από την πρώτη του θητεία αποτέλεσε τζούφιο βεγγαλικό καθώς ο πρώτος μαύρος πρόεδρος απλώς συνέχισε την πολιτική του προκατόχου του ενώ αποδείχθηκε πολύ πιο ικανός διαχειριστής των συμφερόντων του μεγάλου κεφαλαίου. Ακόμη και σε αυτές τις συνθήκες βέβαια το να συγκρίνεις την προεκλογική σου εκστρατεία με τη ζωή ενός σκύλου αποτελεί κάποιου είδους καινοτομία. Ή, όπως θα λέγαμε στην καθομιλουμένη: Η Κλίντον το …τερμάτισε.

Η ενδεχόμενη προεδρία της Κλίντον βέβαια κάθε άλλο παρά απολιτίκ θα είναι. Ως υπουργός Εξωτερικών αποδείχθηκε πιο αδίστακτη ακόμη και από τον πρώην υπουργό Άμυνας Ρόμπερτ Γκέιτς, που είχε διοριστεί από την οικογένεια Μπους. Η Κλίντον κλιμάκωσε τις στρατιωτικές επιχειρήσεις στο Αφγανιστάν, ξεκίνησε το πρόγραμμα ενίσχυσης των τζιχαντιστών στη Συρία και στήριξε με όλες τις δυνάμεις της την επέμβαση στη Λιβύη αλλά και την επέκταση των βομβαρδισμών με μη επανδρωμένα αεροσκάφη, που έχουν στοιχίσει τη ζωή εκατοντάδων ή χιλιάδων αμάχων.

Σε όλη την πολιτική της σταδιοδρομία μετατράπηκε σε έναν από τους σημαντικότερους υποστηρικτές των ισραηλινών εγκλημάτων πολέμου και εγκλημάτων κατά της ανθρωπότητας. Ακόμη και στις σπάνιες περιπτώσεις, που τα ειδεχθή εγκλήματα των Ισραηλινών εναντίον των Παλαιστινίων, προκαλούσαν αντιδράσεις και στο εσωτερικό των ΗΠΑ η Κλίντον ήταν η πρώτη που διαδήλωνε στους δρόμους για το δικαίωμα του Τελ Αβίβ να δολοφονεί χιλιάδες ανθρώπους. Σε περίπτωση εκλογής της θα έχει ενδιαφέρον να δούμε, εάν η ολοκληρωτική πρόσδεσή της με το ισραηλινό λόμπι AIPAC θα σημάνει τερματισμό της προσέγγισης που επιχειρεί ο Μπαράκ Ομπάμα με το Ιράν και θα ανοίξει τον ασκό του Αιόλου για πιο ενεργό στρατιωτική επέμβαση των ΗΠΑ στην ευρύτερη περιοχή.

Στην εσωτερική πολιτική, το πλούσιο βιογραφικό της Κλίντον, μας προϊδεάζει για μια νέα επίθεση εναντίον των εργαζομένων, οι οποίοι βιώνουν ήδη μια από τις μεγαλύτερες αναδιανομές πλούτου προς όφελος του 0,1% των πλουσιότερων Αμερικανών. Η Χίλαρι Κλίντον υπήρξε μεταξύ άλλων νομική σύμβουλος της αλυσίδας καταστημάτων Γουόλ Μαρτ την εποχή που ξεκινούσαν μια από τις πιο σκληρές επιθέσεις στα δικαιώματα των υπαλλήλων τους, κηρύσσοντας ουσιαστικά την έναρξη κινεζοποίησης της αμερικανικής αγοράς εργασίας. Μετά την αποχώρησή της από το υπουργείο Εξωτερικών η ίδια μετατράπηκε στο απόλυτο σύμβολο της αεριτζίδικης οικονομίας των ΗΠΑ. Σε διάστημα 15 μηνών έβγαλε περισσότερα από πέντε εκατομμύρια δολάρια προσφέροντας ανιαρές ομιλίες σε συνέδρια με «ταρίφες» που έφταναν και τα 300.000 δολάρια την ώρα. Συνολικά στο διάστημα 2000 με 2007 μαζί με τον σύζυγό της – σαξοφωνίστα και πρώην πρόεδρο των ΗΠΑ, Μπιλ Κλίντον – περιφέρονταν σαν περιοδεύων θίασος σε συνέδρια συγκεντρώνοντας 109 εκατομμύρια ευρώ. Διόλου ευκαταφρόνητο ποσό για ένα ζεύγος που δηλώνει σε κάθε εμφάνισή του ότι έφυγαν από τον Λευκό Οίκο «ταπί με ταπί».

Πέραν όλων των άλλων βέβαια η ενδεχόμενη επιστροφή των Κλίντον στην εξουσία οδηγεί το πολιτικό σκηνικό των ΗΠΑ σε επίπεδα νεποτισμού που μέχρι σήμερα έχουν παρατηρηθεί μόνο σε φεουδαρχικές μοναρχίες και στην Ελλάδα. Ένας στους τρείς αμερικανούς πολίτες, δηλαδή περισσότερα από 116 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι γεννήθηκαν ενώ στο Λευκό Οίκο βρισκόταν κάποιο μέλος των οικογενειών Μπους και Κλίντον. Συνυπολογίζοντας τη θητεία του Τζορτζ Μπους του πρεσβύτερου ως αντιπροέδρου, οι δυο οικογένειες βρίσκονται εντός του Λευκού Οίκου για 28 χρόνια ενώ με την Χίλαρι θα φτάσουν τα 32 ή ακόμη και τα 36 εάν επιβεβαιωθεί ο κανόνας που θέλει κάθε πρόεδρο να διατηρεί τη θέση του για δυο θητείες.

Είναι αξιοσημείωτη η ταχύτητα με την οποία το Αμερικανικό πολιτικό μοντέλο, ειδικά μετά την προεδρία Κλίντον, υιοθετήθηκε από την Ευρώπη, με την μετάλλαξη των Σοσιαλδημοκρατών. Ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικότερα παραδείγματα, είναι το ΠΑΣΟΚ της εποχής Σημίτη, το οποίο, υπό το σύνθημα του "εκσυγχρονισμού", εφάρμοσε πλήρως την νεοφιλελεύθερη συνταγή της ελεύθερης αγοράς και του χρηματιστηριακού μετασχηματισμού σχεδόν κάθε τομέα της οικονομικής δραστηριότητας. [...] μια πρώτη συνέπεια θα ήταν η Ευρωπαϊκή Αριστερά να αποτελέσει ένα καλό παράδειγμα για μια εναλλακτική πολιτική λύση απέναντι στο διπολικό πλουτοκρατικό πολιτικό σύστημα των ΗΠΑ, το οποίο ενισχύθηκε ιδιαίτερα από την κυβέρνηση Κλίντον στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 90, εξασφάλισε οριστικά τα συμφέροντα του μεγάλου κεφαλαίου και στέρησε εξολοκλήρου από τον Αμερικανικό λαό την δυνατότητα να ψηφίζει για τα συμφέροντά του.
