Gabbard didn't say the only thing that could probably justify her endorsement for Biden, and Bernie shouldn't make the same mistake again

Despite the fact that the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the Democratic primaries process, we have already a clear picture regarding the candidates with a progressive profile that have now dropped nomination. And the masks from the most promising cases of candidates that could eventually join the progressive movement under Bernie Sanders, have finally fallen.

Quite early in the race, and probably even before the beginning of the process, Elizabeth Warren has shown in multiple cases that she is actually a pseudo-progressive with a mission to split the progressive vote.

Andrew Yang would never abandon capitalism for any form of Socialism. And his UBI plan as the central aspect of his political agenda, would have only implemented to save the capitalist system from self-collapse due to the enormous challenges that the human societies and the planet are already confronting.

The last case, was probably the most promising. Yet, Tulsi Gabbard finally decided to endorse Joe Biden, sending waves of disappointment to many progressives who believed that they found a decent ally.

Gabbard's stance is quite strange considering that the last time, she bravely endorsed Bernie Sanders. And she actually ignored the smears and continuous attacks from the DNC establishment and the liberal media since then.

Yet, what's even more strange is that she didn't do anything to justify her latest decision. In a recent interview to Jimmy Dore, Gabbard didn't give any substantial reason for her choice. The excuse for endorsing Biden, was nothing more than a typical, empty rhetoric that we should expect from a neoliberal centrist. You can tell that Dore, who supported her from the beginning, tried hard to defend her, but couldn't do much. It was rather an awkward moment for him.

We understand that it's not easy for anyone to justify an endorsement to Joe Biden, let alone someone who came so close to the progressive movement. Yet, there is one thing that Gabbard could say to justify her decision. And it would make sense because she appeared to be the most anti-war, anti-interventionist Democratic candidate, surpassing even Bernie Sanders in this area.

And that thing is the fact that Donald Trump will almost certainly start a war with Iran in his second term.

As we already explained, the first thing Trump did to clear the way for the imperialists towards Iran, was to destroy the Iran nuclear deal. Without any reasonable excuse, Trump killed a deal that seemed to be working, and managed to dissatisfy even some of the closest US allies who were happy with it. Then, he did the unimaginable thing to authorize the assassination of a top Iranian military official, who was also a leading figure of the fight against ISIS islamofascists.

So, the imperialists will probably start a war with Iran as soon as possible after the 2020 presidential election. They will rush to do it because they don't want to give Iran enough time to build nuclear weapons. Right now, Donald Trump is the most convenient solution because he is still quite popular among his supporters. And he will not hesitate to follow the war schedule as he knows that he can't have a third term.

So, here is the perfect argument Gabbard could use to justify her endorsement for Biden: reduce the possibilities for a war that would make the Iraq war and its consequences look like a playground. She didn't use it, despite that she justifiably earned the title of the most anti-war Democrat.

So, now, Bernie Sanders is left again alone to defend the progressive agenda. He should not make the same mistake by joining the club that has endorsed Biden because he will definitely lose the trust of the progressive movement. The movement and the American youth have heavily invested on him. Another Hillary-style endorsement by Sanders would damage the effort of the movement to gain political power and seriously threaten the establishment in order to bring real change in the United States.

What Sanders should do right now, is to prepare himself to abandon the sinking liberal ship and the totally corrupted DNC, and form with the Greens a great coalition of the real American Left. That is, to give a political alternative to the continuously growing progressive movement.

Otherwise, millions of progressives, who are fed up with that "vote blue no matter who" compromising game, will be left with only two options: either return to the political obscurity, or, join massively the Green party.

  1. I think you are right but after seeing the last debate performance from Sanders the truth is that our old boy has the heart but not the head for the fight.

    1. Sanders is old and tired. His role now is to help the progressive movement gain political power. There are many young progressives who could become leaders of that movement.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

Munich Shock: Rubio’s Vision of a New Western Century & World Order

GVS Deep Dive   At the 2026 Munich Security Conference, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered one of the most consequential foreign policy speeches of the year. Framed as a call for Western renewal, his address went far beyond NATO reassurance — outlining a vision of sovereignty, industrial consolidation, and civilizational confidence that may signal the end of the post-Cold War global order.   Is this the beginning of a Second Cold War?   Is the West reorganizing around bloc competition?   Or are we witnessing the construction of a new world order?

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Five reasons a war with Iran will mark the final fall of US empire

globinfo freexchange   1. The nature of war has changed dramatically since the Iraq war, due to technological developments. A ground invasion, especially against Iran, would be catastrophic for the US empire with unpredictable consequences, even if the regime-change mission successfully completed.  2. The Iran allies in the region are still active, despite their losses. This is connected with the first reason in a way because armed groups dispersed in the Middle-East and affiliated with Iran, can lead to an asymmetric, out-of-control conflict to the point where US forces may suddenly find themselves trapped in a wider deadly warzone with no exit. The new, relatively cheap technology of drones and small/middle range missiles, is easily accessible to these groups. The Ansar Allah group in Yemen, already demonstrated their ability to sabotage US military operations. 3. Iran is not Iraq. Not only due to its size and the fact that we live now in a very different period, but also be...
