After Bernie
Sanders lost the Democratic primary race from Hillary Clinton, it
seemed for a moment that the whole process was about to return to the
well-known bi-partisan political show, run by the establishment for
decades.
Things got
worse when Bernie decided to endorse Hillary, sending waves of
disappointment to thousands of supporters. Yet, this move made things
more clear, as showed that most of the former 'Berniebros' are
completely determined not to support Hillary.
In previous article it has been estimated that “Perhaps
Bernie wants to make sure that Hillary will stay to the left. He may
become an extra pair of strict political eyes on her. Hillary would
find even more difficult to escape and follow the neocon/neoliberal
agenda, especially when she knows that millions of Americans who are
got sick of the establishment will be watching her closely.” As
Bernie decided to leave the Democratic Party, he actually sent the
message that the job must be done by the people, who have the real
power.
That's
perfectly normal because people are not politicians, they are not
acting on a basis of political tactics. The American people, and
especially the American youth, showed that they want straight,
radical change because they had enough of the neoliberal
establishment that dominated for about four decades and brought
instability, inequality, poverty, unemployment.
Bernie's
absence created, for a moment, a significant vacuum in the political
process, as millions of US voters are not willing to compromise with
the "lesser of two evils" logic in the oncoming
presidential elections.
However,
millions of Americans showed remarkable determination in not giving
up, and therefore, turned immediately to the Green Party and Jill
Stein. We are actually witnessing an amazingly unique situation in
the United States. At the moment where the establishment thought that
managed to "normalize" things, turning the political
process to "business as usual", the momentum of Sanders'
movement boosted Jill Stein's perspective out of nowhere.
Polls show
that Stein has still little power, but inside this situation, with
that momentum, no one can actually predict what will happen until
November elections. Furthermore, Jill Stein has a few advantages
compared to Bernie Sanders:
1 - She has
been always faithful to the Green Party. This fact alone gives her
extra credits, as she has clearly chosen to stay out of the US
bi-partisanism, in every level.
2 - She can
get instant power from the quite mature Sanders movement, which means
that despite that she has little time until the day of the national
elections, she can turn this short time into an advantage. The
establishment, at this point, doesn't have enough time to organize
effective propaganda operations against her through the corporate
media.
3 -
Remaining faithfully out of the bi-partisan establishment, she can
attract millions of disappointed voters who have chosen to stay out
of the political process. That fact alone brings further anxiety to
the establishment mechanisms, as it is extremely difficult to measure
this hidden potential.
Whether Jill
Stein will manage to participate in the "theatrical"
debates or not, people have plenty of ways now to hear her positions.
In fact, her exclusion from the debates by the mainstream media would
give her extra points, as this would be another proof that the
establishment is really frightened by the momentum of Sanders'
heritage. The alternative media already give Stein a chance to
communicate with the American people, as they did with Bernie
Sanders.
It has been pointed that “No matter who will be elected
eventually, the final countdown for the demolition of this brutal
system has already started and it's irreversible. The question now is
not if, but when it will collapse, and what this collapse will bring
the day after. In any case, if people are truly united, they have
nothing to fear.”
Now, Jill
Stein and the Greens, may become the alternative tool with which this
demolition may come much faster. Everything will depend on the degree
of mobilization of the American people.
