Ανοιχτό κάλεσμα για πραξικόπημα στη Βενεζουέλα από γερουσιαστή των ΗΠΑ

Ανοιχτό κάλεσμα προς τις ένοπλες δυνάμεις της Βενεζουέλας να ανατρέψουν τον δημοκρατικά εκλεγμένο πρόεδρο της χώρας έστειλε από το λογαριασμό του στο twitter ο γερουσιαστής της Φλόριντας, Μάρκο Ρούμπιο, σημειώνοντας ότι «ο κόσμος θα υποστήριζε μια τέτοια ενέργεια».

Καθώς η Ουάσινγκτον κλιμακώνει το δολοφονικό εμπάργκο εναντίον της Βενεζουέλας, το οποίο έχει προκαλέσει ασφυξία στην οικονομία της χώρας και στις εισαγωγές φαρμάκων και ειδών πρώτης ανάγκης, πληθαίνουν οι φωνές στην Ουάσινγκτον που ζητούν ακόμη πιο δυναμική παρέμβαση για την ανατροπή του προέδρου.

Ο Ρούμπιο, ο οποίος είχε κερδίσει τη θέση του γερουσιαστή με την στήριξη του ακροδεξιού μορφώματος του Tea Party, είχε διεκδικήσει το χρίσμα των ρεπουμπλικάνων για την αμερικανική προεδρία.

Έχει υπάρξει ένθερμος υποστηρικτής της αμερικανικής εισβολής στο Ιράκ αλλά και των στρατιωτικών επιχειρήσεων της Σαουδικής Αραβίας εναντίον της Υεμένης, που οδήγησαν σε μια από τις μεγαλύτερες ανθρωπιστικές κρίσεις της σύγχρονης ιστορίας. Παράλληλα στήριζε με όλες του τις δυνάμεις την ενίσχυση ισλαμιστών, σουνιτών, μαχητών στη Συρία

Υπενθυμίζεται ότι ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ είχε αναφερθεί πριν από μερικούς μήνες στο ενδεχόμενο ανάληψης στρατιωτικής δράσης εναντίον της Βενεζουέλας ενώ ο διευθυντής της CIA είχε αναφερθεί σε επαφές που είχε με αξιωματούχους στην Κολομβία και το Μεξικό, με αντικείμενο την ανατροπή του προέδρου Μαδούρο.
