Προσπάθεια αποσταθεροποίησης από την άκρα δεξιά στο Εκουαδόρ

Ο λαός του Εκουαδόρ εκφράζει την ανεπιφύλακτη υποστήριξή του στην Επανάσταση των Πολιτών (Revolución Ciudadana) και απορρίπτει τις προσπάθειες αποσταθεροποίησης της χώρας από την άκρα δεξιά.

Η νόμιμη κυβέρνηση του Προέδρου του Εκουαδόρ Ραφαέλ Κορέα είναι και πάλι θύμα της προσπάθειας αποσταθεροποίησης από τη δεξιά, που επιδιώκει να πάρει με τη βία την εξουσία αφού απέτυχε εκ νέου να το επιτύχει στις εκλογές. Ο Eκουαδοριανός Πρόεδρος προειδοποίησε την Πέμπτη ότι “οι ελίτ της Λατινικής Αμερικής δεν είναι πια διασπασμένες”, το αντίθετο, είναι συγκροτημένες σε εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο και με τη “θρασύτατη συνενοχή του Τύπου”, και κάλεσε να μην υποτιμηθεί η ικανότητα των αντιπάλων να φέρουν εις πέρας βελούδινα πραξικοπήματα στην περιοχή.

Από τον περασμένο Ιούλιο η δεξιά αντιπολίτευση πραγματοποίησε διαδηλώσεις στο Εκουαδόρ με μοναδικό στόχο την αποσταθεροποίηση της νόμιμης κυβέρνησης του Ραφαέλ Κορέα. Η πλειοψηφία των κινητοποιήσεων έγινε στις πόλεις Quito y Guayaquil και κατέληξαν σε βία. Αρχικά, η άκρα δεξιά οργάνωσε τις διαδηλώσεις ενάντια στο Νομοσχέδιο Αναδιανομής του πλούτου (κληρονομιές) και των έκτακτων κερδών (υπερκέρδη) που κατέθεσε ο Πρόεδρος Κορέα και στοχεύει στην αντιμετώπιση των ανισοτήτων στη χώρα.
Σε μια προσπάθεια προώθησης του διαλόγου, ο αρχηγός του κράτους απέσυρε προσωρινά το νομοσχέδιο και ξεκίνησε συνομιλίες για την ισότητα, την κατανομή του πλούτου και των άλλων μηχανισμών για την αντιμετώπιση της ανισότητας.

Τον Ιούλιο αποκαλύφτηκε μια συνωμοσία της άκρας δεξιάς να ανατρέψει την κυβέρνηση κατά τη διάρκεια των διαδηλώσεων με κατάληψη του Προεδρικού Μεγάρου, κλείσιμο των αεροδρομίων και επιθέσεις στις δυνάμεις ασφαλείας.
Στην απόπειρα αποσταθεροποίησης εναντίον της κυβέρνησης, συμμετείχαν αρκετοί ηγέτες της Συνομοσπονδίας των Αυτοχθόνων Εθνοτήτων του Εκουαδόρ (CONAIE), προκαλώντας τις επικρίσεις των ιθαγενών ηγετών του Εκουαδόρ που υποστηρίζουν την Επανάσταση των Πολιτών.
Ορισμένα μέλη της CONAIE έχουν συνδεθεί με διπλωμάτες των ΗΠΑ, σύμφωνα με τις αποκαλύψεις των WikiLeaks.
Η άκρα δεξιά κάλεσε την Πέμπτη σε πανεθνική απεργία, η οποία, όπως ανακοίνωσε ο Πρόεδρος Ραφαέλ Κορέα, ήταν μια αποτυχία. Οι Εκουαδοριάνοι για άλλη μια φορά προέβαλαν την υποστήριξή τους στην Επανάσταση των Πολιτών και καταδίκασαν τις πραξικοπηματικές ενέργειες της άκρας δεξιάς.

Ο Ραφαέλ Κορέα ο οποίος επανεξελέγη το 2013 με μια σαρωτική νίκη 57%, διατηρεί την εμπιστοσύνη της πλειοψηφίας του λαού του Εκουαδόρ και ολόκληρης της περιοχής.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
