Brussels bureaufascists mark another victory in the Greek battlefield

by system failure

SYRIZA won clearly the snap elections in Greece and Independent Greeks entered the new parliament. This means that the story will be continued from where it has stopped and the government coalition of SYRIZA/Independent Greeks stays in power, although with less seats this time (155 against 162 from the elections of January). Of course, under these circumstances, no one knows whether this government will manage to finish its term normally, or whether Greeks will have to go to vote again, say in a year from now.

One will naturally wonder: So why should Greece go through another electoral process? What's the point? The answer is that the Brussels bureaufascists had to get rid of the 'dangerous' part of SYRIZA, the most radical MPs who formed Popular Unity after the split of the party.

Zoe Konstantopoulou and Costas Lapavitsas are two examples of MPs who joined Popular Unity. Konstantopoulou took action right after SYRIZA won the elections in January. As Speaker of the Greek Parliament, she took initiatives to start an investigation for big scandals of previous governments, like the Siemens scandal.

But her most important initiative was the formation of a committee which would investigate the Greek public debt. With the help of foreign experts, the Committee of Truth for the National Debt, was making fast progress and the first findings showed that the Greek public debt is illegal, illegitimate, and odious. The Greek public debt case had started to attract international attention and this had certainly alarmed Brussels and Berlin. Why?

1st, because the final report would have certainly point to the real criminals (the bankers), who were saved with taxpayers' money, and Greece paid them with unprecedented cuts in wages and pensions. Greece was sacrificed so that to save mostly the German, the French, and the Greek banks.

2nd, because Greece could have become an example for other eurozone countries to proceed in audit of their debts.

Costas Lapavitsas is one of the supporters of national currency for Greece and more people started paying attention to his analysis of how and why Greece should leave eurozone, especially after Tsipras' defeat in the negotiations with the creditors. Also, Yanis Varoufakis didn't participate in Popular Unity, but clearly stated his support to the party before the elections.

Therefore, Brussels bureaufascists have an extra reason to celebrate. Not only managed to get rid of Varoufakis, as also Matteo Renzi recently cynically admitted, and split SYRIZA. They also managed to get rid of the 'dangerous' radicals for good, as Popular Unity did not enter the new parliament.

A critical factor for the result of the elections was the unprecedented figure of those who didn't vote (~43%), which shows the big disappointment of the Greek society and especially the youth. Popular Unity, was formed quickly, under an emergency situation after the split of SYRIZA, therefore didn't manage to persuade the voters about the viability of plan B, the return to national currency.

Although the European Financial Dictatorship (EFD) is not very happy with the result because SYRIZA doesn't have to cooperate with parties promoted by the establishment like PASOK, Potami, or even, Union of Centrists, Tsipras and Kammenos, implied recently that PASOK could participate in the coalition, under specific circumstances. In this case, the plan would be almost completed according to Berlin and the bureaufascists.

But even though this will not happen, the Brussels-Berlin axis will take for granted that Greeks have accepted the 3rd catastrophic memorandum, and force the coalition government to apply every detail of the Greek experiment, according to scenario 1, as described.

This will be also an attempt to reject the clear 'OXI' (NO) against the brutal policies of the Greek people in the referendum. EFD puppets should know that this 'OXI' is already a historic event and cannot be changed. It will play a significant role in future for the change of Europe towards real Democracy.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Will Mamdani manage to liberate New York from brutal neoliberalism?

globinfo freexchange    Fifty years ago, New York City was on the verge of collapse . The politicians who run the city had borrowed more and more money from the banks to pay for its growing services and welfare. But in the early 70s, the middle classes fled from the city and the taxes they paid disappeared with them. So, the banks lent the city even more. But then, they began to worry about the size of the growing debt and whether the city would ever be able to pay it back. And then, one day in 1975, the banks just stopped.   The city held its regular meeting to issue bonds in return for the loans, overseen by the city's financial controller. The banks were supposed to turn up at 11 a.m., but it soon became clear that none of them were going to appear. The meeting was rescheduled for 2 p.m. and the banks promised they would turn up. What happened that day in New York, marked a radical shift in power. The banks insisted that in order to protect their loans, they sho...

The REAL reason why Trump is attacking Latin America

Geopolitical Economy Report   The Donald Trump administration seeks to forcibly impose the US empire's hegemony in Latin America, waging war on Venezuela, imposing sanctions on Colombia's President Gustavo Petro, hitting Brazil with tariffs, and meddling in Argentina's election. Ben Norton explains how Trump and Marco Rubio are trying to cut off all western hemisphere ties with China and Russia, bringing back the colonial Monroe Doctrine, now known as the Donroe Doctrine.

How Western media helped build and then protect the Israeli narrative that allowed a genocide to continue

globinfo freexchange    For two years, Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in 4K on all of our screens. And for those same two years, many of the Western media institutions meant to hold power to account chose silence, distortion and doubt. Newsrooms repeated Israel's allegations with no pushback, ignored the evidence of genocide even as it played out live. This isn't a story about bias or mistakes. It's a story about how Western media helped build and then protect the Israeli narrative that allowed a genocide to continue.  So, how many Palestinian lives have been lost because the world's news outlets chose to repeat Israel's narrative instead of questioning it?    From the earliest days following October 7th, Israel's talking points were treated as fact. The now disproven claims of 40 beheaded babies and the story that Hamas used Palestinian civilians as human shields revived with every bombing of a hospital or school despite the mountain of evidence that it...
