Stein: it's time for the Americans to reject the 'lesser evil' logic

'When people say, "Oh, resistance is futile. Why even bother? Surely, you know, you’re wasting your time," that is part of the propaganda to keep us locked in this system'

After our call to independent media for a 'counter-debate' with the US third parties, the independent news network Democracy Now! made a first revolutionary step to break the US bipartisan debate monopoly.

Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! explains the process: “Debate moderator Lester Holt will ask Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump questions. After their responses, we stop the tape to give Dr. Jill Stein a chance to answer the same question from her own podium. We invited Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson to join us, as well, but he couldn’t make it.

In this final part of the debate, Jill Stein points out the fact that the millions of disappointed Americans with the corrupted establishment, are actually a crucial mass which can determine the outcome of an unprecedented political revolution that could crush the establishment bipartisanism.

As Stein marks correctly, the culture of 'resistance is futile' has been produced by the systemic propaganda, so that to prevent people resist against the system. So, this is the time for the American people to abandon the 'lesser evil' logic.

This is the time for the American people to stand up and fight. How?

By rejecting bipartisanism and voting massively for the Greens and Jill Stein. This would create an unprecedented political earthquake that could spread panic to the establishment, while setting the foundations of a new hopeful era for the American people.

Key points:

In this country, you know, we have two major political parties, which are, in fact, no longer the major voting bloc. The largest voting bloc has repudiated both the Democratic and Republican parties, because, in fact, Americans are tired of being thrown under the bus. They are tired of this rigged economy, and they are tired of the rigged political system that has created this economy. And they are also rejecting, at unprecedented levels, the two candidates that are being forced down their throats as the most disliked and untrusted candidates in our history.

There are 43 million young people right now, and not-so-young people, Gen Xers and on into middle age and well beyond, who are trapped into student loan debt, because once you get in, you cannot get out. Very few get out, actually, in the current economy that we have of low-wage, part-time and temporary jobs. So people get stuck in student loan debt.

It turns out that 43 million is actually a winning plurality of the vote in a three-way race. So when people say, "Oh, resistance is futile. Why even bother? Surely, you know, you’re wasting your time," you know, that is part of the propaganda to keep us locked in this system. In the words of Alice Walker, "The biggest way people give up power is by not knowing we have it to start with." We do have the power. It’s time to stand up and use it.

This is a very wounded democracy. If there is evidence of voter fraud, we will challenge it, and we will bring it to court, as the Greens have led the way in doing before. But, you know, I think our job here is not to surrender to a very corrupt system, whichever one of these candidates wins. Donald Trump has had $4 billion worth of free prime-time media. Hillary Clinton has had $2 billion worth of free prime-time media. We’ve had essentially zip. And as a non-corporate campaign, we don’t have big bucks to put the word out, but we are doing well in the polls relative to how other non-corporate third-party candidates have done.

This is the time for us to stand up. In this election, we are not just deciding what kind of a world we will have, but whether we will have a world or not going forward, looking at the climate change that’s barreling down on us, the threat of nuclear weapons and these massive, expanding wars, for which there is no end in sight under both Democrats and Republicans, and specifically Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. This is the time for us to stand up for the future we deserve, to reject the lesser evil and to fight for the greater good like our lives depend on it, remembering that we do have the votes if we stand up with the courage of our convictions.

  1. Things need to get way way worse. Unfortunately, the Welfare State keeps the bottom 20% from rioting, so the economic situation of the middle 60% will have to completely disintegrate before any change does happen. Sometimes it is better to bide your time. No one, absolutely no one, can change the current America. Everything is layered under piles of bureaucratic tradition/law 10 feet deep, so much so, that simple 'peace' negotiations will never work. Just imagine trying to fix a single law on the books today. How many loopholes exist to that law? Where are the other laws, statutes, etc involved? What you find is that there are so many loopholes in the system, that have become part of the system, that you would need to selectively erase history. Not gonna happen.

But by all means, keep writing these articles. I believe that freedom of information, and more importantly, non-biased information will one day change this country we live in.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Iran could be the US’s Boer war: a hollow victory that marks the beginning of the end of empire

US leaders anticipated a walkover. Now they’re embroiled in a conflict that could hasten the end of US economic dominance  by Larry Elliott   Nobody gave the Boers a prayer when the war in South Africa began in 1899. It was farmers ranged against the might of the British empire, and the expectation was that resistance would quickly crumble. Eventually, might did prevail. Britain won the Boer war, but it was a hollow victory that took the best part of three years to achieve and came at a high cost. The blow to British prestige – coming at a time when its global hegemony was under threat from fast-growing countries such as the US – was severe. Far from highlighting the extent of Britain’s power, it exposed its limitations. A century and a quarter later, the US risks being embroiled in its equivalent of the Boer war. What should have been a walkover threatens to become a prolonged conflict. The Iranians are using guerrilla tactics, just as the Boers did, with much success. There ...

Stephen Hawking confirms: The problem is Capitalism, not robots!

globinfo freexchange According to world famous physicist Stephen Hawking, the rising use of automated machines may mean the end of human rights – not just jobs. But he’s not talking about robots with artificial intelligence taking over the world, he’s talking about the current capitalist political system and its major players. On Reddit, Hawking said that the economic gap between the rich and the poor will continue to grow as more jobs are automated by machines, and the owners of said machines hoard them to create more wealth for themselves. The insatiable thirst for capitalist accumulation bestowed upon humans by years of lies and terrible economic policy has affected technology in such a way that one of its major goals has become to replace human jobs. If we do not take this warning seriously, we may face unfathomable corporate domination. If we let the same people who buy and sell our political system and resources maintain control of automated technology, the...

Joe Biden threatens to slap Detroit autoworker in the face

Christo Aivalis Just hours before Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders compete in the 2020 Michigan Primary, Joe Biden was meeting with a Detroit autoworker when the they got into a discussion about "AR-14" and the second amendment.  At one point, Joe Biden put his finger in the man's face and said that he would slap him in the face. Whatever you think of this man and his viewpoints, this was unacceptable behavior from Joe Biden, and a clear indication that he is not fit to serve as president and be the democratic nominee. Especially because Bernie Sanders has shown you can win over conservative voters without these ugly acts.
