WikiLeaks - Η κούρσα των Δυτικών νεο-αποικιοκρατών πάνω από το Λιβυκό πτώμα

Στις 16 Μαρτίου 2016, τα WikiLeaks δημοσίευσαν ένα αρχείο 30.322 ηλεκτρονικών επιστολών, οι οποίες μπορούν να ερευνηθούν με τη χρήση λέξεων-κλειδιών, από και προς τον προσωπικό email server της Χίλαρι Κλίντον, την εποχή που διατελούσε υπουργός εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ. Τα έγγραφα των 50.547 σελίδων, εκτείνονται σε μια περίοδο από τις 30 Ιουνίου του 2010 έως τις 12 Αυγούστου του 2014. 7.570 από τα έγγραφα αυτά εστάλησαν από την Χίλαρι Κλίντον. Τα έγγραφα διατέθηκαν σε μορφή PDF από το υπουργείο εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ με αίτημα στα πλαίσια του Νόμου περί Ελευθερίας της Πληροφόρησης (Freedom of Information Act).


Μια επιστολή από τον Sidney Blumenthal, κορυφαίο σύμβουλο του ζεύγους Κλίντον, προς την Χίλαρι Κλίντον στα μέσα Σεπτεμβρίου του 2011, αποκαλύπτει περισσότερες εντυπωσιακές λεπτομέρειες σχετικά με την εξέλιξη της κούρσας των Δυτικών συμμάχων στην κατεστραμμένη Λιβύη, προκειμένου να εξασφαλίσουν μια προνομιακή θέση για τις εταιρίες τους στις πλουτοπαραγωγικές πηγές της χώρας.

Φαίνεται ότι οι Βρετανοί κατάφεραν να μπουν "σφήνα" στην νεο-αποικιοκρατική κούρσα, για να πάρουν και αυτοί το μερίδιό τους για τις εταιρίες τους. Ωστόσο, η ανησυχία τους ήταν έντονη καθώς, παρά τη Βρετανική υποστήριξη προς τους αντάρτες, ορισμένα μέλη του εθνικού μεταβατικού συμβουλίου (National Transitional Council - NTC), δεν ξέχασαν ότι η Βρετανική κυβέρνηση και οι εταιρίες πετρελαιοειδών είχαν καλές σχέσεις με το καθεστώς Καντάφι.

Επιπλέον, ο Blumenthal φαίνεται να εκφράζει και κάποια ανακούφιση, καθώς όπως περιγράφει, ο πρόεδρος του εθνικού μεταβατικού συμβουλίου, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, ήταν πρόθυμος να δώσει προτεραιότητα στις Γαλλικές, Αγγλικές και Αμερικανικές εταιρίες, εξαιτίας της στήριξης που παρείχαν οι χώρες αυτές κατά τη διάρκεια της εξέγερσης κατά του Καντάφι.

Έτσι, καθώς όλο και περισσότεροι παίχτες έμπαιναν στο παιχνίδι "λεηλασία της Λιβύης", οι Γάλλοι κινητοποιήθηκαν για να εξασφαλίσουν ένα μίνιμουμ ποσοστό στο Λιβυκό πετρέλαιο για λογαριασμό των εταιριών τους. Όπως περιγράφεται στην επιστολή, η Γαλλία διεξήγαγε ένα συντονισμένο σχέδιο δημόσιας και ιδιωτικής διπλωματίας για να πιέσει τη νέα μεταβατική κυβέρνηση της Λιβύης να εξασφαλίσει έως και το 35% της Λιβυκής βιομηχανίας πετρελαίου για τις εταιρίες Γαλλικών συμφερόντων και κυρίως για την μεγάλη Γαλλική εταιρία TOTAL.

Ο Blumenthal εκφράζει επίσης την ανησυχία του για το γεγονός ότι η Κινεζική και Ρωσική οικονομική δραστηριότητα δεν διακόπηκε εντελώς με το νέο καθεστώς, καθώς σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες από τον εμίρη του Κατάρ, ήταν κατά κάποιο τρόπο ευκολότερο για το νέο καθεστώς να συνεχίζει να συνεργάζεται με εταιρίες Ρωσικών συμφερόντων. Η πληροφορία αυτή επιβεβαιώνει την εκτίμηση ότι ένας ακόμα λόγος που οι Δυτικοί νεο-αποικιοκράτες ουσιαστικά επεδίωκαν το χάος στη Λιβύη, ήταν για να αποτρέψουν περαιτέρω τον Ρωσικό και Κινεζικό οικονομικό επεκτατισμό στην περιοχή.

Ένα ακόμα ενδιαφέρον στοιχείο που προκύπτει από την επιστολή, είναι ότι, απ'ότι φαίνεται, τόσο ο Γάλλος πρόεδρος Νικολά Σαρκοζί, όσο και ο Βρετανός πρωθυπουργός, Ντέιβιντ Κάμερον, λειτουργούσαν ουσιαστικά σαν αντιπρόσωποι των μεγάλων εταιριών, πράγμα που δείχνει και την μεγάλη παρακμή των σημερινών πολιτικών "ηγετών".

Έχει ενδιαφέρον επίσης να συγκρίνουμε τη συγκεκριμένη επιστολή με μια παλαιότερη (περίπου τέσσερις μήνες πριν), με τον τίτλο "FRENCH ECONOMIC GRAB", δηλαδή "ΓΑΛΛΙΚΗ ΟΙΚΟΝΟΜΙΚΗ ΑΡΠΑΓΗ", μέσω της οποίας ο Blumenthal έδινε σημαντικές πληροφορίες για την αγωνία των Γάλλων νεο-αποικιοκρατών προκειμένου να εξασφαλίσουν το μονοπώλιο των Λιβυκών πλουτοπαραγωγικών πηγών για τις εταιρίες τους. Εκείνη η επιστολή είχε ένα άρωμα Αμερικανικής δυσαρέσκειας για το γεγονός αυτό. Οι εξελίξεις τέσσερις μήνες αργότερα, δείχνουν ότι οι Αμερικανοί παρακολουθούσαν στενά τη Γαλλική δραστηριότητα στη Λιβύη με σκοπό να μπουν αιφνιδιαστικά μέσα στην κούρσα λεηλασίας της χώρας, μαζί με τους Βρετανούς στενούς τους συμμάχους, όπως και τελικά έγινε.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
