Γάλλοι στρατιώτες: Δεν θα σηκώσουμε τα όπλα απέναντι στο γαλλικό λαό

Εν όψει των επόμενων προγραμματισμένων κινητοποιήσεων των Κίτρινων Γιλέκων, η γαλλική κυβέρνηση ανακοίνωσε ότι θα χρησιμοποιήσει το στρατό προκειμένου να προστατεύσει συγκεκριμένες περιοχές του Παρισιού από τους διαδηλωτές. Στρατιώτες καταγγέλλουν την απόφαση αυτή, χαρακτηρίζοντάς την ως μια κακή ιδέα που θα μπορούσε να αποδειχθεί πολύ επικίνδυνη.

Στο πλαίσιο της λήψης επιπλέον μέτρων ασφαλείας η γαλλική κυβέρνηση σχεδιάζει να εντάξει στρατιώτες της επιχείρησης Sentinelle στην περιφρούρηση συγκεκριμένων μνημείων, αλλά και της περιοχής των Ηλισίων Πεδίων. Η αντιτρομοκρατική επιχείρηση Sentinelle έχει τεθεί σε εφαρμογή από το 2015, με σκοπό την ενίσχυση της ασφάλειας στο κέντρο της πολης με την παρουσία ένοπλων μονάδων του στρατού.

«Οι άνθρωποι της επιχείρησης Sentinelle είναι όλοι στρατιωτικοί. Δεν γνωρίζουμε από επιχειρήσεις διατήρησης της τάξης», εξηγεί στρατιώτης που μίλησε ανώνυμα στο franceinfo. Θεωρητικά δεν προβλέπεται οι στρατιώτες να παρέμβουν στην διατήρηση της τάξης, όπως θα πράξουν οι αστυνομικοί και οι μονάδες αποκατάστασης της τάξης. Όμως στο εσωτερικό των στρατιωτικών μονάδων πολλοί θέτουν το ίδιο ερώτημα: Πώς θα πρέπει να αντιδράσουν, αν διαδηλωτές τους πλησιάσουν για να τους επιτεθούν;

«Δεν φέρουμε τον κατάλληλο εξοπλισμό. Φοράμε μονίμως αλεξίσφαιρα και κρατάμε αυτόματα τουφέκια. Δεν έχουμε τον εξοπλισμό που έχουν οι μονάδες αποκατάστασης τάξης», εξηγεί άλλος στρατιώτης που δέχτηκε να μιλήσει ανώνυμα στο franceinfo. «Αν μας επιτεθούν ή πετάξουν πέτρες προς το μέρος μας, είτε θα πρέπει να μπούμε σε κάποιο κτίριο είτε δεν θα έχουμε άλλο τρόπο να προστατευθούμε και η μόνη απάντηση εκείνη τη στιγμή θα είναι ίσως η ρίψη χημικών ή η χρήση των κλομπ. Αλλά αν εκεί έχει συγκεντρωθεί μεγάλο πλήθος, αυτό θα μπορούσε να σημαίνει ότι υπάρχει ο κίνδυνος να έχουμε και θανάτους», συνεχίζουν.

Κάποιοι άλλοι χαρακτηρίζουν την απόφαση ως «δραματικό παράπτωμα της κυβέρνησης». Ένας στρατιώτης εξηγεί ανώνυμα γιατί αρνείται να σηκώσει το όπλο του απέναντι στο γαλλικό λαό: «Είναι ένας παραλογισμός. Δεν είμαστε προετοιμασμένοι για κάτι τέτοιο. Σε τεχνικούς όρους, εμείς πολεμάμε απέναντι στον εχθρό. Ο εχθρός δεν μπορεί να είναι ο λαός».

Η κατάσταση είναι ακόμα πιο δύσκολα διαχειρίσιμη, καθώς πολλοί στρατιώτες βλέπουν θετικά το κίνημα των Κίτρινων Γιλέκων. Κατηγορούν την κυβέρνηση ότι δεν έχει συλλάβει το μέγεθος του κινήματος και χρησιμοποιεί τον στρατό όταν τον έχει ανάγκη, προκειμένου να παραμείνει στη θέση της.

Το Γενικό Επιτελείο Στρατού σε ανακοίνωσή του διαβεβαίωσε ότι οι στρατιώτες δεν πρόκειται να έρθουν σε επαφή με τους διαδηλωτές. Συνέχισε όμως την ανακοίνωσή του με ασάφεια, λέγοντας ότι «είναι αδύνατο να προβλέψουμε τι θα γίνει, γιατί η πορεία των Κίτρινων Γιλέκων είναι απρόβλεπτη», προκαλώντας ακόμη μεγαλύτερη ανησυχία.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
