Οι δημοκρατικοί επανεκλέγουν τον Τραμπ και φιμώνουν το ίντερνετ

Τρομακτικές επιπτώσεις θα έχει η κατάρρευση των θεωριών συνωμοσίας που διοχέτευαν εδώ και δύο χρόνια ορισμένα από τα μεγαλύτερα μέσα ενημέρωσης στις ΗΠΑ και την ΕΕ σχετικά με τον υποτιθέμενο ρόλο της Ρωσίας στην εκλογική νίκη του Ντόναλντ Τραμπ.

Καθώς οι σχετικές έρευνες δεν φερνουν στο φως κανένα στοιχείο που να επιβεβαιώνει το σύγχρονο κυνήγι μαγισσών που εξαπέλυσαν οι δημοκρατικοί για να δικαιολογήσουν την ήττα της Χίλαρι Κλίντον, οι εξελίξεις “δικαιώνουν” τον Τραμπ – ίσως τον πιο χυδαίο και ψεύτη πρόεδρο που έχει κυβερνήσει από την ίδρυση του Αμερικανικού κράτους.

Το πρόβλημα δεν είναι απλώς ότι ο “πορτοκαλί” πρόεδρος ξεκινα με ένα σαφές προβάδισμα για τις επόμενες εκλογές, καθώς οι πολιτικοί του αντίπαλοι χρησιμοποίησαν το λεγόμενο russiagate εν είδει πολιτικής μονοκαλλιέργειας. Το πρόβλημα είναι ότι οι θεωρίες συνωμοσίας, που διακινούσαν ορισμένοι από τους πλέον αναγνωρίσιμους δημοσιογράφους των ΗΠΑ, προκαλούν σαρωτικό χτύπημα στην ελευθεροτυπία – το μέγεθος του οποίου μπορεί να συγκριθεί μόνο με τα αποτελέσματα του μακαρθισμού στο αποκορύφωμα του Ψυχρού Πολέμου.

Καταρχήν τα κυρίαρχα φιλελευθερα ΜΜΕ απαξιώνονται πλέον ολοκληρωτικά στα μάτια των πολιτών και πολύ περισσότερο των ψηφοφόρων του Τραμπ, οι οποίοι θα στραφούν ακόμη περισσότερα σε ακροδεξιές ιστοσελίδες οι οποίες χρηματοδοτούνται από επιχειρηματίες που στηρίζουν τον αμερικανό πρόεδρο.

Κατά δεύτερον το κυνήγι μαγισσών εναντίον της Ρωσίας μετουσιώθηκε σε ένα πογκρόμ εναντίον κάθε διαφορετικής φώνης. Δεν ήταν μόνο ότι οι αμερικανικές αρχές απαγόρευαν σε Ρώσους ανταποκριτές ακόμη και να παρακολουθούν επίσημες συνεντεύξεις Τύπου κυβερνητικών αξιωματούχων. Είναι κυρίως ότι η Google, το Facebook και το Twitter δεχθηκαν για πρώτη φορά (δημοσίως) να φιμώσουν ιστοσελίδες με αμιγώς πολιτικά κριτήρια.

Με πρόσχημα την απομόνωση του ρωσικού “παράγοντα” κατέβασαν εκατοντάδες σελίδες και λογαριασμούς, αρκετοί από τους οποίους ανήκαν σε οργανώσεις της αριστεράς και ασκούσαν κριτική στην πολιτική των ΗΠΑ. Οποιοσδήποτε δεν παπαγάλιζε τις ταυτόσημες απόψεις Ρεπουμπλικάνων και Δημοκρατικών θεωρούνταν εν δυνάμει ξένος πράκτορας. Αν καταδίκαζες τις δολοφονίες των μαύρων, σε κατηγορούσαν ότι προκαλείς κοινωνική αναταραχή απειλώντας την εθνική ασφάλεια της χώρας. Αν αμφισβητούσες τις θεωρίες του Στέιτ Ντιπάρτμεντ για τα χημικά όπλα στη Συρία, ήσουν πρώτος στη λίστα των πιθανων μισθοδοτούμενων από τη Μόσχα (θεωρία την οποία άρχισαν να ασπάζονται και διάφορα φερέφωνα των ΗΠΑ στην Ελλάδα, τα οποία αποκαλούσαν αριστερούς σχολιαστές με τον όρο “πουτινίτσες”).

Δεν ήταν φυσικά τυχαίο ότι ο σχετικός αποκλεισμός από το ίντερνετ άρχισε να χτυπά και τα επίσημα ΜΜΕ άλλων χωρών, που βρίσκονταν σε αντιπαράθεση με τις ΗΠΑ. Από τις χώρες της Λατινικής Αμερικής μέχρι το Ιράν αρκετά κρατικά μέσα ενημέρωσης είδαν τις ηλεκτρονικές τους σελίδες να κατεβαίνουν απροειδοποίητα.

Παρά το γεγονός όμως ότι το russiagate καταρρέει σαν πύργος από τραπουλόχαρτα, οι επιπτώσεις από την ολομέτωπη επίθεση στην ελευθεροτυπία δεν αναστρέφονται. Οι ίδιες σελίδες συνεχίζουν να αποκλείονται από πλατφόρμες όπως το facebook και το twitter τη στιγμή που οι πραγματικοι διακινητές των fake news – εφημερίδες όπως οι New York Times και η Washington Post – δεν ζήτησαν ούτε μια τυπική συγγνώμη για τις ψευδείς πληροφορίες που διέδιδαν.

Όπως έγραψε ο ερευνητής δημοσιογράφος Μαρκ Ταίμπι το Russiagate είναι τα σύγχρονα “όπλα μαζικής καταστροφής” της εποχής μας – ένα εξόφθαλμο ψέμα το οποίο κανένας δεν τολμούσε να αμφισβητήσει πριν από την εισβολή και κατάληψη του Ιράκ. Ενώ όμως τα WMD προκάλεσαν τελικά πολιτική ζημιά στον Τζορτζ Μπους το Russiagate μετατρέπει τον Τραμπ σε κυρίαρχο του πολιτικού σκηνικού.

Δύσκολα θα μπορούσε να ελπίζει σε μεγαλύτερη υποστήριξη από αυτή που του παρείχε η φιλελεύθερη Αμερική. Αυτή έστηνε για δεκαετίες την περσόνα του στα ΜΜΕ, αυτή του χάρισε τη νίκη στις εκλογές αποκλείοντας τον Σάντερς από την τελική αναμέτρηση και αυτή υπόσχεται να τον επανεκλέξει για άλλη μια θητεία.
