Τι θα γινόταν αν τα ρομπότ αντικαθιστούσαν και τους καταναλωτές;

Καθώς η ανθρωπότητα εισέρχεται με γρήγορους ρυθμούς στην εποχή της υπερ-αυτοματοποίησης, ο καπιταλισμός καταστρέφει το ανθρώπινο δυναμικό. Τα καρτέλ των πολυεθνικών έχουν διεισδύσει σε όλα τα κομβικά κέντρα αποφάσεων και οι λομπίστες έχουν καταφέρει να καταλάβουν σχεδόν όλες τις θέσεις-κλειδιά σε κυβερνήσεις και θεσμούς. Ως εκ τούτου, μια από τις βασικές πολιτικές που προωθείται, είναι η συστηματική εξόντωση των μικρο-μεσαίων επιχειρήσεων (μέσω των διατλαντικών συμφωνιών τύπου TTIP, για παράδειγμα), ως ένα από τα τελευταία εμπόδια ενάντια στην απόλυτη κυριαρχία των υπερ-τραπεζών και των πολυεθνικών.

Η ραγδαία άνοδος της υπερ-αυτοματοποίησης, είναι σήμερα ένας από τους βασικούς παράγοντες που συμβάλουν σε άνευ προηγουμένου ποσοστά ανεργίας, ακόμα και στις πιο ανεπτυγμένες χώρες. Οι κυβερνήσεις παλεύουν να συγκαλύψουν τα πραγματικά μεγέθη της ανεργίας χρησιμοποιώντας διάφορα τεχνάσματα. Ακόμα και οι εργαζόμενοι που δουλεύουν τις μισές (ή και λιγότερες) μέρες της εβδομάδας, ή πολύ λιγότερες ώρες από το - κάποτε - καθιερωμένο 8ωρο, συνυπολογίζονται στο εργατικό δυναμικό με πλήρες ωράριο. Ορισμένες κυβερνητικές υπηρεσίες μειώνουν τεχνητά τα ποσοστά ανεργίας, απλά μετατοπίζοντας ολόκληρες ομάδες στην κατηγορία των ανθρώπων που δεν δύνανται, για διάφορους λόγους, να εργαστούν.

Σε έναν άλλο κόσμο, οι λιγότερες ώρες για τους εργαζόμενους δεν θα σήμαιναν απαραίτητα μειωμένους μισθούς και επιδόματα. Στη χειρότερη περίπτωση, οι μισθοί θα έμεναν στάσιμοι και οι εργαζόμενοι θα είχαν περισσότερο χρόνο για άλλες δραστηριότητες της επιλογής τους, διατηρώντας ταυτόχρονα και ένα σχετικά υψηλό επίπεδο ζωής. Αλλά σ'αυτό τον κόσμο, λόγω ενός από τους πιο θεμελιώδεις κανόνες του παρωχημένου καπιταλιστικού συστήματος, οι εργαζόμενοι αγωνίζονται να νικήσουν, μάταια, τον ανίκητο εχθρό των υπερ-αυτοματοποιημένων μηχανών στην αρένα του αδυσώπητου ανταγωνισμού.

Έτσι, η αδιάκοπη τεχνολογική εξέλιξη και η παραγωγή όλο και πιο αποδοτικών μηχανών, πιέζει προς τα κάτω, βίαια, μισθούς και εργασιακά δικαιώματα.

Στο όχι και τόσο μακρινό μέλλον, η διόγκωση των ποσοστών ανεργίας, λόγω της εξολόθρευσης των μικρομεσαίων επιχειρήσεων και της συνεχούς υπερ-αυτοματοποίησης, θα είναι περισσότερο από προφανής. Σ'αυτο το σημείο, πολλοί αναρωτιούνται εύλογα: αν όλη η παραγωγή αυτοματοποιηθεί και οι εργαζόμενοι χάσουν τις δουλειές τους, ποιος θα καταναλώνει τα προϊόντα;

Μια πιθανή απάντηση σ'αυτό το ερώτημα, θα είχε να κάνει με την υπερπληθώρα καταναλωτών λόγω της εκρηκτικής αύξησης του παγκόσμιου πληθυσμού. Μόλις οι μισθοί εξισωθούν παντού, θα δημιουργηθεί περίσσευμα καταναλωτών για να αγοράζουν τα προϊόντα. Ωστόσο, αυτό θα είναι μόνο ένα μεταβατικό στάδιο. Όταν οι ελίτ φτάσουν στο σημείο να ελέγχουν όλες τις πλουτοπαραγωγικές πηγές και όλα τα μέσα παραγωγής, θα υπάρξει μια μετάβαση από τον Καπιταλισμό σε ένα είδος παγκόσμιας Φεουδαρχίας.

Αλλά τα πράγματα μπορούν να γίνουν ακόμα πιο "Δυστοπικά". Όταν ο έλεγχος των πλουτοπαραγωγικών πηγών και των μέσων παραγωγής περάσει ανεπιστρεπτί στα χέρια των ελίτ, η κάλυψη των αναγκών του ανθρώπινου πληθυσμού θα γίνει περιττή για το κυρίαρχο σύστημα. Οι ανθρώπινες ανάγκες θα μπορούσαν να αποκλειστούν από ένα κλειστό σύστημα, όπου τα ρομπότ θα γίνουν οι νέοι καταναλωτές. Ένα πράγμα απόλυτα κοινό για ανθρώπους, μηχανές, υιούς, υπολογιστές, ή οποιαδήποτε άλλη βιολογική οντότητα, ή, μηχανή, είναι η κατανάλωση ενέργειας.

Δεν πρέπει να ξεχνάμε, ότι οι άνθρωποι του 1% που έχουν τη δύναμη, έχουν ένα συγκεκριμένο τρόπο σκέψης, μια συγκεκριμένη ψυχοσύνθεση, αν θέλετε. Δεν νοιάζονται καθόλου για την πλειοψηφία του 99%. Δεν έχουν ηθικούς φραγμούς. Δεν τους ενδιαφέρει αν όλοι οι υπόλοιποι, το 99%, θα φτάσει στο σημείο να παλεύει σκληρά, κάθε στιγμή, για να επιβιώσει. Το μόνο που θέλουν, είναι απεριόριστη δύναμη.

Μέσα σ'αυτόν τον ιδιότυπο "ρομπο-Καπιταλισμό", οι μηχανές θα αποτελούν τους τέλειους υπηρέτες, που θα είναι πολύ πιο αποδοτικοί από τα ανθρώπινα όντα. Σε αυτό το σύστημα, όλη η οικονομία και η έρευνα θα περιστρέφεται γύρω από την ανάγκη για όλο και πιο αποδοτικές μηχανές. Αλλά μια παραλλαγή αυτού του σεναρίου οδηγεί σε κάτι που πολλοί επιστήμονες φοβούνται: την πιθανότητα οι υπερ-ευφυείς μηχανές στο μέλλον να κυριαρχήσουν ολοκληρωτικά, εξολοθρεύοντας το ανθρώπινο είδος και εξαφανίζοντας κάθε ανθρώπινη παρουσία, αφού θα είναι ικανές να εξελιχθούν μόνες τους.

Αλλά υπάρχει μια πληθώρα σεναρίων για το πως θα μπορούσαν να εξελιχθούν τα πράγματα στην εποχή που θα ακολουθήσει την υπερ-αυτοματοποίηση. Δεν είναι όλα σκοτεινά και Δυστοπικά. Υπό ορισμένες προϋποθέσεις, η υπερ-αυτοματοποίηση θα μπορούσε να οδηγήσει σε μια άνευ προηγουμένου ευημερία, όχι μόνο για μια πολύ περιορισμένη ελίτ, αλλά για ολόκληρη την ανθρωπότητα.
