Από την τρίχρωμη της Επανάστασης στην τρόικα

Πριν 225 χρόνια ξημέρωνε μια μέρα που έδειχνε ότι θα είναι ίδια με τις προηγούμενες μόνο που έμελλε να εξελιχθεί σε σύμβολο και όχι μόνο για την χώρα στην οποία πραγματοποιήθηκε. Στο Παρίσι είχε ξημερώσει με την ένταση του αιτήματος για Σύνταγμα αλλά και με τον φόβο των τυφεκιοφόρων του βασιλιά. Τριάντα δύο χιλιάδες τουφέκια άρπαξαν οι πολιτοφύλακες από τον Οίκο των Απομάχων αλλά σίγουρα δεν προλάβαιναν να μάθουν καν να τα χρησιμοποιούν.

Κι όμως στο τέλος της μέρας ο Λαφαγιέτ φορούσε για πρώτη φορά την τρίχρωμη κονκάρδα της Επανάστασης στην κορυφή του γρανιτένιου πύργου της Βαστίλης. Ανάμεσα στο κόκκινο και το μπλε, χρώματα της πόλης του Παρισιού έβαζε το λευκό του βασιλιά για να συνδέσει το παλιό με το νέο αλλά τίποτα πια δεν θα ήταν ίδιο όχι μόνο για την Γαλλία αλλά για ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Στις 4 Αυγούστου κιόλας θα είχαμε την διακήρυξη των Δικαιωμάτων του Ανθρώπου και του Πολίτη ενώ το βασιλικό σύνταγμα της Φλάνδρας και οι Ελβετοί φρουροί του μονάρχη θα ακολουθούσαν ως ελεεινό ντεκόρ την απίθανη πορεία της εθνοφρουράς που πορευόταν στα Ηλύσια Πεδία με καρβέλια καρφωμένα στις ξιφολόγχες.

Δεν ήταν όλα απλά αλλά τα σύνθετα έβρισκαν απλές λύσεις αν και τα μεγάλα βήματα δεν έγιναν αμέσως. Η Επανάσταση είχε μεν σύμβολό της γυμνόστηθες γυναίκες και κόκκινα σκουφιά αλλά η Ολυμπία ντε Γκουζ ανέβηκε στην γκιλοτίνα φωνάζοντας ότι «αν μια γυναίκα μπορεί να ανέβει στο ικρίωμα είχε το δικαίωμα να φοράει και την δικαστική τήβεννο». Οι συντρόφισές της κλείνονταν στο φρενοκομείο κατηγορούμενες όπως η Μανόν Ρολάν για «αφύσικη επιρρέπεια στην πολιτική δραστηριότητα» και το Επαναστατικό Συμβούλιο καταργούσε τις γυναικείες οργανώσεις.

Το προλεταριάτο συμπαρατάχθηκε στα οδοφράγματα με τους βιοτέχνες αλλά δεν είχε αυτό που είχαν αποκτήσει οι αστοί: ταξική συνείδηση. Οι φιλόσοφοι υμνούσαν την αστική τάξη η οποία με την σειρά της θεωρούσε τον Ρουσώ ουτοπικό. Οι προλετάριοι χωρίς ηγεσία παρακολουθούσαν συμμετέχοντας με τα κορμιά τους και δίνοντας το αίμα τους ενώ δυό χρόνια μόλις μετά την πτώση της Βαστίλης απαγορευόταν δια νόμου οι εργατικές συντροφιές και η απεργία για υπεράσπιση του μισθού.

Μα η Επαναστάση είχε δρόμο. Το 1793 ο Σαιν Ζυστ διακήρυτε «ένας λαός που δεν ευτυχεί δεν έχει πατρίδα». Ήταν τότε, τέσσερα χρονιά αργότερα, που ο Λουδοβίκος αποκεφαλιζόταν ως απλός Καπέτος και η ανατριχίλα διαπερνούσε σαν το ατσάλι της γκιλοτίνας τα κορμιά όλων των βασιλέων και των ευγενών της Ευρώπης. «Ορίστε, ορμήσαμε στο άγνωστο» αποφαινόταν ο Λεμπά, βουλευτής του Πα ντε Καλαί. Η Λουδοβίκα, η Χήρα, η Ξυριστική Μηχανή όπως την αποκαλούσαν, κατά περίσταση, δούλευε αλλά όχι χάρις στο γιατρό Ζοζέφ Γκιγιοτέν ο οποίος μάταια διαρτυρόταν πως δεν είναι δική εφεύρεση και, ακόμη πιο μάταια, θα πω κι εγώ ότι πέθανε στο κρεβάτι του από φυσικό θάνατο και όχι από την μηχανή του θανάτου που φέρει το όνομά του. Δούλεψε μέχρι το 1977 και το τελευταίο θύμα της ήταν ένας άραβας μετανάστης.

Κι ήταν, τότε, στον πέμπτο χρόνο της Επανάστασης, καταμεσίς αυτού που αποκλήθηκε Τρομοκρατία που η Επανάσταση φαντάστηκε τόσο δυνατά ένα άλλο κόσμο που έμελλε όσα κερδήθηκαν στα καρτιέ του Παρισιού να στοιχειώσουν τα όνειρα των εξουσιαστών απανταχού της γης αλλά και να δώσουν υπόσταση σε δικαιώματα τα οποία μέχρι σήμερα ψαλιδίζονται. Ήταν το 1794 όταν άνοιγε το αποκαλούμενο «Μεγάλο Βιβλίο Εθνικής Αγαθοεργίας». Πιο απλά καθιερωνόταν η κοινωνική πρόνοια, η δωρεάν ιατρική περίθαλψη, οι συντάξεις γήρατος, το ρεπό για τους εργαζόμενους, η δωρεάν πρωτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση.

Ο Σαιν Ζυστ και πάλι συμπύκνωνε «ούτε πλούσιοι, ούτε φτωχοί. Χλιδή ίσον αίσχος». Απέναντι στους παπάδες ο Ροβεσπιέρος εγκαθίδρυε την δική του μεταφυσική τονίζοντας ότι «το Υπέρτατο Ον είναι σάλπισμα δικαιοσύνης, συνεπώς ιδέα κοινωνική και δημοκρατική» ενώ ο Θεικός Νταβίντ τον σκηνοθετούσε ως νέο Ποντίφηκα. Να τό ‘θελε άραγε; Ας το πει όποιος το ξέρει.

Η αντεπανάσταση, ο Θερμιδόρ, θα πατούσε στις υπερβολές για να πάρει με την σειρά της τα κεφάλια των «ασεβών», και δεκαπέντε μέρες μετά την συντριβή της Τρομοκρατίας η εφημερίδα «Βραδυνός Αγγελιοφόρος» όργανο της κοσμικής τάξης θα ανήγγελε τον νέο κόσμο, που έφτασε κι αυτός μέχρι τις μέρες μας: «Πόσο αξιολάτρευτες είναι οι όμορφες γυναίκες με τις ξανθές περούκες τους, πόσο απολαυστικές είναι οι συναυλίες, οι δημόσιες ή της καλής κοινωνίας». Τόσο απλά.

Ο Θερμιδόρ, η αντεπανάσταση, έφτασε μέχρι σήμερα για να πάρει πίσω ότι κατακτήθηκε εκείνα τα χρόνια. Η τρίχρωμη της Ελευθερίας, της Ισότητας και της Αδελφοσύνης, έχει δώσει την θέση της σε Τρόικες που αλωνίζουν το πεδίο της Ευρώπης. Αυτής της ίδιας ηπείρου για την οποία ο Σαιν Ζυστ διακήρρυτε ότι «η ευτυχία είναι μια νέα ιδέα για την Ευρώπη» ιδέα για την οποία, σε πλείστες παραλλαγές οι ευρωπαίοι όλων των εθνών κομπάζουν ακόμη.

Ο δίκαιος και επιμελής μελετητής της περιόδου εκείνης ο Ζώρζ Λεφέβρ στο μνημείωδες έργο του «Η Γαλλική Επανάσταση» (εκδ. Μορφωτικό Ίδρυμα Εθνικής Τραπέζης) περιγράφει με την εξής καίρια φράση την ήττα της Επανάστασης και το ξεκίνημα του Θερμιδόρ «Χρηματιστές και κερδοσκόποι ξανάρχισαν να πολιορκούν τους πολιτικούς». Εμείς ζούμε την πτώση των τελευταίων αντιστάσεων. Δεν είναι δα να τόχουμε για περηφάνια.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique.
