Γάζα: Το τελευταίο παιχνίδι ...

Στη Γάζα δεν έχει σημασία τι έκανες, πού πήγες, τι έμαθες και τι έχεις κατά νου να γράψεις. Στο τέλος η ίδια η Γάζα είναι εκείνη που θα σου υποδείξει το θέμα.

Έτσι λοιπόν χθες, μετά από τρίωρη πρωινή περιπλάνηση στη γειτονιά της Ζεϊτούν κι άλλη μια απογευματινή στην πόλη της Γάζας, επέστρεψα στο ξενοδοχείο. Κοντοστάθηκα για λίγο στην τραπεζαρία συζητώντας με τους υπόλοιπους συναδέλφους κι ανέβηκα στο δωμάτιο που βρίσκεται στο δεύτερο όροφο του Beach Hotel μπροστά από την παραλία. Ενστικτωδώς η πρώτη μου κίνηση μπαίνοντας ήταν, όπως πάντα, να ανοίξω το παράθυρο ώστε κατά τη διάρκεια των βομβαρδισμών το ωστικό κύμα να μην εκτονώνεται επάνω στα τζάμια με κίνδυνο να σπάσουν.

Έκατσα στο τραπέζι, άνοιξα το κομπιούτερ, κοίταξα την ώρα στο επάνω μέρος της οθόνης και ήταν ακριβώς 16:16 όταν ακούστηκε ο ήχος από την έκρηξη ενός βλήματος προερχόμενου από πολεμικό πλοίο του Ισραήλ. Το ωστικό κύμα ανέκοψε τη φορά του ανέμου για ελάχιστο χρόνο. Η έκρηξη ήταν υπερβολικά κοντά. Το δωμάτιο σείστηκε. Έτρεξα στο παράθυρο και είδα καπνό να αναδίδεται από ένα κιόσκι στον λιμενοβραχίονα, περίπου 100 μέτρα μακριά μας.

Τέσσερις σιλουέτες ξεπρόβαλαν πηδώντας τα βράχια που χωρίζουν το λιμάνι από την αμμουδιά. Τέσσερα παιδιά έτρεχαν μακριά από σημείο της έκρηξης με κατεύθυνση προς το ξενοδοχείο μας. Κοίταξα τα παράθυρα των γύρω δωματίων κι όλοι οι συνάδελφοι έστεκαν κι αυτοί, προσπαθώντας να κατανοήσουν την εικόνα.

Έστρεψα και πάλι το βλέμμα στην παραλία. Οι πιτσιρικάδες τα έδιναν όλα. Τα πόδια βούλιαζαν στην άμμο, έσπρωχναν όπως μπορούσαν για να φύγουν μακριά. Το ξενοδοχείο των δημοσιογράφων απείχε πλέον μόλις 50 μέτρα. Είχαν καλύψει τη μισή απόσταση για να φτάσουν σε αυτό που θεωρούσαν ασφαλές καταφύγιο. Τότε συνειδητοποιούν πως ανάμεσα στο ξενοδοχείο και την παραλία υπάρχει περίφραξη. Δίπλα ακριβώς από εμάς στέκει άλλο ένα ξενοδοχείο, το "Al Deira Hotel". Η απόσταση άλλα 100 μέτρα κι οι πιτσιρικάδες βάζουν πλώρη για εκεί.

Τη στιγμή εκείνη, ένα δεύτερο βλήμα σκάει στην ακτή. Τρία από τα παιδιά τραυματίζονται και πέφτουν στην άμμο. Το τέταρτο έχει δεχθεί θραύσμα, εξακολουθεί όμως να τρέχει και τελικά φτάνει στον μαντρότοιχο του επόμενου ξενοδοχείου. Κάποιοι συνάδελφοι πηδούν στην παραλία και τον μεταφέρουν στην ασφάλεια του υπαίθριου εστιατορίου. Αν και τα κατάφερε, έχει τραυματιστεί σοβαρά. Χάνει πολύ αίμα, ωστόσο διατηρεί τις αισθήσεις του και περιγράφει τι ακριβώς συνέβη. Εν τω μεταξύ άλλοι δημοσιογράφοι έχουν φέρει από τα δωμάτια το κουτί με τα είδη πρώτων βοηθειών. Δένουν με δύναμη τα σημεία πάνω από τις πληγές για να σταματήσουν την αιμορραγία και τοποθετούν γάζες μέχρι να φτάσει το ασθενοφόρο για να τον παραλάβει.

«Ένιωθα λες και με ακολουθούσαν με το κανόνι. Ήταν λες και οι πύραυλοι κυνηγούσαν τα πόδια μας» είπε σε όσους έστεκαν από πάνω του.

Μαζί με τους υπόλοιπους δημοσιογράφους από το "Beach Hotel" κατεβήκαμε στην παραλία, κατευθυνόμενοι προς τα τρία άλλα παιδιά. Είχαν περάσει όχι παραπάνω από δυο λεπτά από το χτύπημα όταν φτάσαμε κοντά τους. Ήταν όμως ήδη αργά για το ένα εξ αυτών και τα άλλα δύο ήταν βαριά τραυματισμένα. Το θέαμα αποκρουστικό. Η έκρηξη προκλήθηκε ακριβώς στα πόδια τους. Η περιγραφή της εικόνας δεν ενδείκνυται. Τα ασθενοφόρα καταφθάνουν και τα παιδιά διακομίζονται στο νοσοκομείο.

Σύμφωνα με τις μαρτυρίες, τρία από αυτά έπαιζαν μπάλα κι ένα μπάλωνε πρόχειρα ένα δίχτυ ψαρέματος, πριν το ναυτικό ανοίξει πυρ εναντίον τους.

Στο σύνολό τους οι δημοσιογράφοι έχουν επιδοθεί στην αναζήτηση μιας εξήγησης αναφορικά με το γιατί τέσσερα πιτσιρίκια ηλικίας 12-15 ετών που έπαιζαν μπροστά από το ξενοδοχείο μας αποτέλεσαν στόχο των ισραηλινών δυνάμεων. Η λογική παραιτείται κι έτσι αναζητούμε την απάντηση στα πιο επίσημα χείλη από πλευράς Ισραήλ. Καλούμε διαδοχικά από τις 16:30 μέχρι τις 16:40 τον εκπρόσωπο Τύπου του ισραηλινού υπουργείου Άμυνας, αναζητώντας την απάντηση στο γιατί. «Ερευνούμε το συμβάν και θα σας καλέσουμε πίσω εμείς», ήταν η απάντηση που λάβαμε όλοι. Μέχρι και τις εννέα το βράδυ, οπότε ολοκληρώθηκε αυτό το άρθρο, απάντηση δεν λάβαμε...

Από το νοσοκομείο μαθαίνουμε ότι και τα τέσσερα παιδιά υπέκυψαν στα τραύματά τους.

Ο συνάδελφος που έδεσε τις πληγές του μοναδικού αγοριού που κατάφερε να φτάσει στο ξενοδοχείο απομακρύνεται από τον κύκλο. Βγαίνει στην αυλή και ζητάει ένα τσιγάρο από κάποιον περαστικό. Το έκοψε πριν από επτά μήνες, σχολιάζει ένας άλλος που τον παρακολουθεί να απομακρύνεται.

Δύο ώρες αργότερα, έξω από το ξενοδοχείο οι ντόπιοι μαζεύονται για να παρευρεθούν στην κηδεία των αγοριών. Αποφασίζουν να ακολουθήσουν αντίθετα τη διαδρομή που τα αγόρια διήνυσαν στην παραλία για να τα οδηγήσουν στην τελευταία τους κατοικία. Η μπάλα με την οποία έπαιζαν δεν βρέθηκε ποτέ. Χάθηκε στις φλόγες μαζί με το δίχτυ ψαρέματος ...

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’
