War with Iran must be stopped at all costs

by Maj. Danny Sjursen What if they called a war and no one came? Well, now’s the time folks. The apparent march to war with Iran represents a pivotal moment in the historical arc – the rise and fall – of our republic come empire. This potential war is so unnecessary, so irrational, that it borders on the absurd. Still, since the U.S. now fields a professional, volunteer military, few citizens have “skin in the game.” As such, they could hardly care less. Unlike in past wars – think Vietnam – there is no longer a built in, established antiwar movement. This is unfortunate, and, dangerous for a democracy. See the US Government operates with near impunity in foreign affairs, waging global war without the consent of the people and, essentially, uninterested in what the people have to say at all. It should not be thus in a healthy republic. People should not fear their government; governments should fear their people. So let me propose something seemingly ludicrous. It’s this: s

French journalists face jail for exposing govt lies about Yemen war

French journalists are being threatened with jail time for reporting on leaked documents revealing the country’s complicity in the Saudi-led war in Yemen after they refused to answer questions from anti-terror police. “ They want to make an example of us because it’s the first time in France that there have been leaks like this, ” Geoffrey Livolsi, co-founder of investigative news outlet Disclose, told the Intercept , referring to the classified Directorate of Military Intelligence briefing, meant for President Emmanuel Macron’s eyes only, that revealed the government had lied to the public about how the weapons it was selling would be used. Livolsi, his Disclose co-founder Mathias Destal, and Radio France reporter Benoît Collombat could face up to five years in prison and a €75,000 fine for merely handling classified documents without authorization under a 2009 law that prohibits “ attacks on national defense secrets ” after the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI),

US Navy wants to create archive of 350 billion social media posts for ‘research’ purposes

The US Navy is seeking to create an archive that will store no less than 350 billion social media posts, as part of the military branch’s “ research efforts ” into “ modes of collective expression. ” The Department of the Navy has posted a solicitation asking contractors to bid on a project that would amass a staggering 350 billion social media posts dating from 2014 through 2016. The data will be taken from a single social media platform – but the solicitation does not specify which one. “ We seek to acquire a large-scale global historical archive of social media data, providing the full text of all public social media posts, across all countries and languages covered by the social media platform ,” the contract synopsis reads. The Navy said that the archive would be used in “ ongoing research efforts ” into “ the evolution of linguistic communities ” and “ emerging modes of collective expression, over time and across countries. ” The archive will draw from publicly available soc

Locked in a Cold War time warp

by Jeremy Kuzmarov On Saturday May 18th, the New York Times ran a lengthy front-page article by Alexander Burns and Sydney Ember entitled “Mayor Who Brought the Cold War to Vermont,” which exemplifies how the poisonous political climate of the Cold War has not yet receded. The piece details presidential contender Bernie Sanders’ opposition to Ronald Reagan’s Central America Wars in the 1980s while Burlington Mayor, and Sanders’ travels to Nicaragua and meeting with Sandinista revolutionary leader Daniel Ortega. The article also mentioned Sanders’ travels to Cuba where he came away impressed by Cuba’s “ free health care, free education [and free housing], ” and a trip to Yaroslavi in the Soviet Union, a Burlington sister-city, whose health care system, Sanders noted, was “ free or virtually free. ” Sanders told the Times reporters: “ I plead guilty to, throughout my adult life, doing everything that I can to prevent war and destruction .” The piece, however, made a point

CNN sets up a fully controlled audience panel to promote pro-establishment candidates using Bernie Sanders progressive agenda

An example of advanced psy-ops by the corporate media  globinfo freexchange As we wrote recently, the moment where the crowd inside the Fox ultra-right nest enthusiastically cheers in favor of a government-run healthcare system, could actually be considered a historical moment, thanks to Bernie Sanders. The moment clearly depicts and officially marks the end of controlled audiences in controlled MSM environments. It shows that the well-paid MSM pundits and their producers are finding increasingly difficult to set up the scene according to the desirable agenda. Therefore, audience reactions can't be directed, or predicted in many cases by the MSM 'experts'. Now, here is an example showing a successful set up through a controlled audience. It took place inside CNN and there is plenty of evidence that was indeed carefully set up. In the following video, Mike Figueredo of the Humanist Report felt optimistic, but also quite frustrated at the same time. Figueredo

Corporate media setting up Iran as new 'threat' that must be confronted

If we can still call things "surreal," that would describe watching corporate media do the same things they did in the run-up to the Iraq War   by Janine Jackson The Washington Post editorial’s headline (5/14/19) had the U.S. “drifting” toward war with Iran—another example, as analyst Nima Shirazi quipped, of the “ world’s superpower somehow having no agency over its own imperialism. ” If we can still call things “surreal,” that would describe watching corporate media do the same things they did in the run-up to the Iraq War, things they later disavowed: the credulous repetition of administration claims about the supposed threat; the reliance, for interpretation of “intelligence,” on officials with well known records for manipulating intelligence; the stenographic reporting of ‘troubling’ actions by the enemy state, that later have to be walked back. A May 13 New York Times piece led with the statement that Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan had “ pres

Newly released FBI docs shed light on apparent Mossad foreknowledge of 9/11 attacks

New information released by the FBI has brought fresh scrutiny to the possibility that the “Dancing Israelis,” at least two of whom were known Mossad operatives, had prior knowledge of the attacks on the World Trade Center.   by Whitney Webb  Part 1 For nearly two decades, one of the most overlooked and little known arrests made in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks was that of the so-called “High Fivers,” or the “Dancing Israelis.” However, new information released by the FBI on May 7 has brought fresh scrutiny to the possibility that the “Dancing Israelis,” at least two of whom were known Mossad operatives, had prior knowledge of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Shortly after 8:46 a.m. on the day of the attacks, just minutes after the first plane struck the World Trade Center, five men — later revealed to be Israeli nationals — had positioned themselves in the parking lot of the Doric Apartment Complex in Union City, New Jersey, where they were seen taking

Who’s behind the pro-Guaidó crowd besieging Venezuela’s D.C. embassy?

The intimidation tactics by the pro-coup embassy besiegers not only failed to deter the peace activists around the embassy, they left Venezuela’s D.C.-based opposition with a serious PR problem. After a week of hateful outbursts, a handful of marketing strategists emerged as de facto spokespeople for the mob. by Jeb Sprague and Alexander Rubinstein  Part 1 After a rough and revealing start, the reins of the campaign to seize Venezuela’s embassy in Washington are being taken over by a group of well-connected marketing and online strategists. In this article, we will examine the backgrounds of these individuals, the platforms they use to disseminate their message, and the tactics they have employed to clamor for an embassy seizure that violates international law. We will also address how they may stand to benefit directly from an escalation of Washington’s hybrid war and a potential regime-change scenario in Venezuela. Washington serves as a magnet for many elite and uppe

How GMO seeds and Monsanto/Bayer’s “RoundUp” are driving US policy in Venezuela

With Juan Guaidó’s parallel government attempting to take power with the backing of the U.S., it is telling that the top political donors of those in the U.S. most fervently pushing regime change in Venezuela have close ties to Monsanto and major financial stakes in Bayer. by Whitney Webb Part 5 - Forcing open a new market for RoundUp Part of Singer’s interest in Bayer may relate to Venezuela, given that Juan Guaido’s “Plan País” to “rescue” the Venezuelan economy includes a focus on the country’s agricultural sector. Notably, prior to and under Chavismo, agricultural productivity and investment in the agricultural sector took a backseat to oil production, resulting in under 25 percent of Venezuelan land being used for agricultural purposes despite the fact that the nation has a wealth of arable land. The result has been that Venezuela needs to import much of its food from abroad, most of which originate in Colombia or the United States. Under
