The European Central Bank has pushed yields on the corporate-bond market so low that they no longer meet the criteria of its own bond-buying program, Bloomberg reports. According to the media’s data, yields on bonds from Paris’s public transport network have already dipped to -0.4 percent. Bonds from Europe’s largest engineering company Siemens, as well as French train operator SNCF and oil company Sagess are approaching this threshold. As more and more corporate bonds in Europe are turning negative, economists are raising questions how long the ECB can stimulate growth through buying bonds. A Greek government source denied reports in a book by French President Francois Hollande that claims Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras may have called on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assistance to print a Greek currency. The book, “A President Shouldn’t Say That,” divulges behind-the-scenes information about his negotiations. The same source said there had been contacts between the two men but there was no such issue raised by Tsipras. During their talks, both Tsipras and Putin had said that it was in Greece’s interests to remain in the Eurozone. The book cites Putin as stating that Greece asked for Russia to print drachmas as the country did not have such a printing press in its own territory. Mexico's Attorney General Arely Gomez said Tuesday that another search for the missing students from Ayotzinapa will be launched next week in the towns of Iguala, Cocula and Guerrero, two years after they were reported disappeared during a clash with federal and local police.
