Letter to the People of Brazil

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Part 1 For two months now, I have been unjustly incarcerated without having committed any crime. For two months I have been unable to travel the country I love, bringing the message of hope of a better and more just Brazil, with opportunities for all, as I always did during 45 years of public life. I was deprived of my daily life with my sons and my daughter, my grandsons and granddaughters, my great-granddaughter, my friends and comrades. But I have no doubt that they have put me here to prevent me from being with my larger family: the Brazilian people. This is what distresses me the most, because I know that outside, every day, more and more families are back to living in the streets, abandoned by the State that should protect them. From where I am, I want to renew the message of faith in Brazil and in our people. Together, we have been able to overcome difficult times, serious economic, political and social crises. Together, under my gover

Reminds you anything? globinfo freexchange Iraq was imploding. While, at home, Tony Blair and George Bush were being accused of lying to their own people to justify the invasion. What they desperately needed was something that would show that the invasion was having a good effect in the Arab world. So, they made an extraordinary decision. They turned for help to the man who they had always insisted was one of the world’s most dangerous tyrants: Colonel Gaddafi. And, instead, they set out to make him their new best friend. A man who had been created by the West as a fake global supervillain was now going to be turned into a fake hero of democracy. And everyone, not just politicians, would become involved. Public relations, academics, television presenters, spies, and even musicians were all going to help reinvent Colonel Gaddafi. It would show just how many people in the Western Establishment had, by now, become the engineers of this fake world. failedev

It seems that the French rapidly regret for electing the neoliberal puppet

globinfo freexchange Emmanuel Macron popularity continues to decline rapidly, as more and more French start to realize that the former Rothschild banker is nothing more than a neoliberal puppet of the rich. The confirmation comes from three economists who actually inspired Macron's campaign program:            In the confidential memo sent to Mr Macron’s office on June 4, top economists Philippe Aghion, Philippe Martin and Jean Pisani-Ferry said that the president’s economic policy and “emancipatory ambition” was failing to convince citizens, including his “most fervent supporters”, according to French newspaper Le Monde. “Many supporters of the then-candidate fear a shift to the right, motivated by the temptation to occupy the political space neglected by a conservative party in crisis,” the economists wrote, referring to the country’s embattled Les Républicains party. Mr Macron, who has pitched himself as “neither left nor right,” loosened France’s rigid labour ru

The curious case of the Left’s silence on Julian Assange

In a recent communication between Randy Credico, an Assange supporter, comic and radio producer, and Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, Assange’s fear of arrest and extradition to the US was confirmed by the leader of the Russia-gate frenzy. Credico received the following response from Schiff after meeting the the Congressman’s staff, in which Credico was trying to connect Assange with Schiff: “Our committee would be willing to interview Assange when he is in U.S. Custody and not before.” Dennis Bernstein spoke with John Pilger, a close friend and supporter of Assange on May 29. The interview began with the statement Bernstein delivered for Pilger at the Left Forum last weekend in New York on a panel devoted to Assange entitled, “Russia-gate and WikiLeaks”. Pilger’s Statement            There is a silence among many who call themselves left. The silence is Julian Assange. As every false accusation has fallen away, eve

It was located in Yemen’s northwestern Hajjah Governorate, an area that has been heavily bombarded by Saudi Arabia for more than 3 years. MSF said in a statement that the cholera treatment center had markings on the roof that clearly identified it as a healthcare facility. It added that the center has been destroyed and is now completely non-functional. The U.S.-backed Saudi coalition has repeatedly bombed medica

OAS panel dutifully ignores Zionist abuses, pushes Venezuela regime change

On May 29, the OAS panel of “independent experts” convened in Washington to build the case for toppling the Bolivarian government and prosecuting Maduro at the International Criminal Court. by Elliott Gabriel Part 4 - The OAS panel: a mouthpiece of imperialism Cotler is far from alone among the morally dubious figures arrogating moral authority to themselves; OAS Secretary-General Luis Almagro has also praised the Israelis, favorably comparing the scandal-ridden Netanyahu government to that of Maduro, despite the latter head of state not having launched aggressive wars on his own population or neighboring states. In the meantime, Almagro has been relatively silent in respect to the Western Hemisphere’s most pressing human-rights crises — such as the Mexican government’s crackdowns on social movements resisting neoliberal structural reforms, assassinations of social movement leaders and paramilitary attacks on rural and Indigenous communities thr
