While Gaza burns

The Grayzone   Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate discuss the latest developments in the grinding Gaza war, including Israel's plans to attack Rafah, the incendiary protest at the Israeli embassy by one active duty US serviceman, and the deepening scandal at the New York Times over its discredited investigation into sexual assault by Hamas on October 7. They also cover the fallout from Alexei Navalny's death and more.

Study Finds Media Giants New York Times, CNN, and Fox News Pushing for US War in Yemen

by Alan Macleod  Part 3 - Eyes on Iran Although the perpetrator of the attacks on shipping is unquestionably Ansar Allah, corporate media had another culprit in mind: Iran. Fifty-nine of the 60 articles studied reminded readers that the Yemeni group is supported by the Islamic Republic, thereby directly pointing the finger at Tehran. It is indeed true that Iran supports Ansar Allah politically and militarily. When directly asked by MintPress if Tehran supplies it with weapons, al-Bukhaiti dodged the question, calling it a “ marginal issue .” Why this facet of the story needed to be repeated literally hundreds of times is unclear. Often, the media studied would repeat it ad nauseam, to the point where a reader would be forgiven for thinking Ansar Allah’s official name was the “Iran-backed Houthis.” One CNN round-up used the phrase (or similar) seven times, a Fox News article six times, and an NBC News report five times. Not only was the “Iran-backed” factoid used constantly, but it was

What Happens When Evil Wins?

Second Thought   Over the last five months, we've seen an unprecedented escalation in violence in Gaza. Most people I know feel like they're going crazy. We're all seeing the same footage, but no matter how angry we all get and how much we try to change public opinion, nothing seems to come of it. So...what can we do? Has evil won?

Why Israel’s War Is Genocide — and Why Biden Is Culpable

Israel has made no secret of it: it has embarked on a genocidal plan to “create conditions where life in Gaza becomes unsustainable.” And Joe Biden is its accomplice.   by Seth Ackerman   Part 5 - Biden’s Complicity In a recent op-ed for the New York Times , Daniel Levy, a veteran Israeli negotiator who has served several prime ministers, urged the Biden administration to exercise “ the very real diplomatic and military leverage at its disposal ” to push Israel to accept a cease-fire. “ That demand cannot be one of rhetoric alone. The administration should condition the transfer of further military supplies on Israel ending the war. ” The former Israeli ambassador to France, Élie Barnavi, made a similar point in an interview last month: “ You know, we can’t make war without munitions or replacement parts for our planes, ” he noted. “ Either a solution will be imposed or there won’t be one. The Americans, upon whom we’re extremely dependent, can force our government. ” Joe Biden, howeve

The Shadowy, Intelligence-Linked Group Driving the US Towards War With Iran

"United Against Nuclear Iran does not miss an opportunity to try to bring the United States closer to a military conflict with Iran. And on the other side of the equation, they also have worked very hard to oppose efforts to de-escalate the U.S.-Iran relationship."   by Alan Macleod   Part 5 - Intelligence Connections   That UANI is headed by so many state, military and intelligence leaders begs the question: to what extent is this really a non-governmental organization? “ That is one of the dirty secrets of think tanks: they are very often holding tanks for government officials, ” Freeman said, adding:                                    The Trump folks all had to leave office when Biden won, so a lot of them ended up in think tanks for a while, four years, let’s say. And if Trump wins again, they will bounce back into government. And the same is true of Democratic administrations, too.   The U.S. government also clearly has a longstanding policy of outsourcing much of its wo

Secret US spying program targeted top Venezuelan officials, flouting international law

by JOSHUA GOODMAN and JIM MUSTIAN   Part 3 - RELEASED BY ACCIDENT   The Operation Money Badger memo was never intended to be made public. It was inadvertently uploaded among dozens of government exhibits to a file share website by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan during the bribery conspiracy trial late last year of two former DEA supervisors who helped spearhead the agency’s offensive against the Maduro government. It would be removed hours after an AP reporter started asking about it. A few days later, over the AP’s objections, the federal judge presiding over the bribery trial took the highly unusual step of sealing the courtroom while the document was discussed, saying that doing so in open court would have “ serious diplomatic repercussions. ” Neither he nor prosecutors explained what those might be.  Former DEA supervisors Manny Recio and John Costanzo Jr. were eventually convicted of leaking sensitive law enforcement information to Miami defense attorneys as part of a bri

Assange High Court Hearing Day 2: Richard Medhurst Report from Inside the Court

Richard Medhurst   Richard Medhurst reports from the Royal Courts of Justice in London on the Julian Assange case, after attending the High Court hearings in person. Assange is seeking permission to appeal the 2021 ruling of the lower court: a decision that only blocked his extradition to the United States on health grounds (later overturned by US appeal), while agreeing with political and espionage charges against the WikiLeaks founder that criminalize journalism. Richard Medhurst has reported on Julian Assange's extradition case since 2020.

Roger Waters SLAPS DOWN Bono’s Pro-War Propaganda

The Jimmy Dore Show   During a recent concert, U2’s Bono exposed himself as a full-blown establishment-fluffing warmonger by declaring his support for Alexei Navalny and repurposing the song “Pride (In the Name of Love)” as a paean to the concert-goers attacked on October 7th.
