The war-lobby corporate criminals tried to sell a direct war with Iran to the banking mafia

globinfo freexchange The private-business faction of the US deep state is a fundamental factor that pushes for war with Iran and other countries, due to enormous profit perspectives. Last May, the war-lobby "usual suspects", like Kratos Defense, Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, tried to sell a war with Iran to the banking mafia. As The Intercept reported : Defense executives from around the country crowded into Goldman Sachs’ glimmering tower in downtown Manhattan in mid-May, eager to present before a conference of bankers and financial analysts. While much of the world was on edge over simmering tension in the Middle East, as the U.S. and its allies have stoked tensions with Iran, the businessmen at the conference talked of opportunity. Eric DeMarco, the president of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions , addressed the conference, arguing that his company is “ very well-aligned ” for the shift in the military budget away from asymmetrical fighting toward na

Venezuelan government claims new coup plot foiled

The Venezuelan government has reportedly dismantled a plan to stage a violent putsch in recent days. Communications Minister Jorge Rodriguez revealed on Wednesday that a large scale plan was set to be executed on June 23 or 24. The operation allegedly included the assassination of President Nicolas Maduro, National Constituent Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, and other high-ranking officials. Maduro condemned the latest plot, accusing the opposition of looking to seize power through a “ bloodbath. ” “ They talked about a killing spree that could last two or three days, ” Maduro said during a televised event. “ How can a better country emerge from all that death? ” he asked. Venezuelan authorities claim to be in possession of 56 hours of intercepted communications, as well as confessions from several accused plotters who have been arrested.  Among those detained are former officers from Venezuela’s special investigative police force, the CICPC, and the dissolved Metropolita

US sends more stealth fighters to Persian Gulf, as Iran tension simmers

The US Air Force has deployed a contingent of F-22 stealth fighters to an airbase in Qatar, to “ defend American forces and interests ” in the region as tensions with Iran remain high. The US Air Force’s Central Command confirmed the deployment of the jets to Qatar’s al-Udeid air base on Friday, posting photos of some of the planes arriving in the desert base this week. The deployment comes after President Trump threatened Iran with “ overwhelming force ” and “ obliteration, ” following Iran’s downing of a US Navy drone a week ago. The Trump administration also sanctioned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, a move Tehran said closed off the possibility of negotiation, and which President Hassan Rouhani called “ mentally retarded. ” Despite the sharp uptick in belligerent rhetoric, the F-22s were requested by Central Command - the US military command that oversees the Middle East - in May, AP reported. As US officials warned of an unspecified but “ credible threat ” from Iran

Lee Camp savages war-horny CNN

America’s leading liberal news outlet, CNN, is chastising the Trump administration for being too soft on Iran. Why, Redacted Tonight host Lee Camp asks, don’t they consider peace an option? With tensions sky-high in the Persian Gulf, and President Donald Trump threatening Tehran with “obliteration” should American interests in the region be attacked, nobody could accuse the president’s cabinet of being barefooted, bong-smoking pacifists. But that’s exactly the line of questioning that CNN’s Jake Tapper took with Vice President Mike Pence earlier this week. Days after Trump approved, then abruptly called off, military strikes on Iran, Tapper wondered whether “ Iran would get the wrong message from the president’s restraint. ” https://www.rt.com/usa/463020-iran-war-cnn-lee-camp/

Dennis Etler: Tulsi Gabbard is the only true peace candidate in presidential debates

Representative Tulsi Gabbard is the only US politician who speaks truth to power and who “ unequivocally challenges the bipartisan war party composed of Republican neo-cons and Democrat neo-liberals, ” according to Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has a decades-long interest in international affairs. Etler, a former professor of Anthropology at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, told Press TV on Saturday while commenting on the comments made by Gabbard during the first Democratic presidential primary debate Wednesday in Miami, Florida, where she warned that Trump and his hawkish advisers were leading the United States towards a " disastrous " war with Iran. " This president and his chickenhawk cabinet have led us to the brink of war with Iran, " she said. Gabbard said it's important that " every single American stand up and say no war with Iran. " Etler said, “ It seems you have to be a political outsider from a multicult

NY Times admits it sends stories to US government for approval before publication

The New York Times casually acknowledged that it sends major scoops to the US government before publication, to make sure “national security officials” have “no concerns.” by Ben Norton Part 3 - NY Times editors ‘quite willing to cooperate with the government’ The symbiotic relationship between the US corporate media and the government has been known for some time. American intelligence agencies play the press like a musical instrument, using it it to selectively leak information at opportune moments to push US soft power and advance Washington’s interests. But rarely is this symbiotic relationship so casually and publicly acknowledged. In 2018, former New York Times reporter James Risen published a 15,000-word article in The Intercept providing further insight into how this unspoken alliance operates. Risen detailed how his editors had been “ quite willing to cooperate with the government. ” In fact, a top CIA official even told Risen that his rule of thumb for ap

The US spreads lies about China because China threatens global capitalism & imperialism

It’s remarkable how much of the propaganda that America creates about China feels like projection. The United States, which frequently censors dissenting voices, persecutes Muslims and other disfavored ethnic groups, is controlled by an oligarchic corporate regime that keeps half of its own people in poverty, and perpetuates the largest empire in history, is accusing China of all the atrocities that it’s committed itself.  This “accuse your enemy of that which you are guilty” strategy is useful for America’s goal with China, which is to destroy a power that’s threatening to ruin its quest for imperial hegemony. Communist China has been an obstacle to the American empire right from the start, with China having fought on the side of the DPRK amid America’s genocidal invasion of Korea. It’s now continuing its role as a bulwark against imperialism by working to protect Venezuela from a potential invasion, by backing Syria in its fight against U.S.-backed terrorists, and by remaining l

From coup leaders to con artists: Juan Guaidó’s gang exposed for massive humanitarian aid fraud

An explosive new report reveals how Guaidó representatives in Colombia embezzled $125,000 meant for humanitarian aid, suckering deserting soldiers and blowing the aid money on luxury goods. by Dan Cohen  Part 4 - ‘Transparency above all!’ According to Avendaño’s report, the two Popular Will figures appointed to oversee the funds and payment for the lodging of the deserters – Barrera and Rojas – spent 3,000,000 pesos ($915 USD) each night on hotels and nightclubs. “ About a thousand dollars in drinks and meals. Clothing expenses in very expensive stores in Bogotá and in Cúcuta. Vehicle rental reports and hotel payments at surcharge. Silver flowing. A lot of money, ” the journalist wrote. Barrera told the Popular Will leadership in Caracas that the funds were being dispersed among seven hotels that were providing housing for deserters and their families, but only two hotels had actually been paid. What’s more, Guaidó’s representatives had falsely claimed there were m

FBI never saw CrowdStrike unredacted or final report on alleged Russian hacking because none was produced

The FBI relied on CrowdStrike’s “conclusion” to blame Russia for hacking DNC servers, though the private firm never produced a final report and the FBI never asked them to, as Ray McGovern explains. by Ray McGovern Part 5 - Comey Spikes Deal With Assange Director Comey’s March 20, 2017 testimony to the House Intelligence Committee came at the same time he was scuttling months-long negotiations between Assange and lawyers representing the DOJ and CIA to grant some limited immunity for the WikiLeaks founder. In return, Assange offered to: (1) redact “ some classified CIA information he might release in the future, ” and (2) “ provide technical evidence and discussion regarding who did not engage in the DNC releases. ” Investigative journalist John Solomon, quoting WikiLeaks’ intermediary with the government, broke this story, based on “ interviews and a trove of internal DOJ documents turned over to Senate investigators. ” It would be a safe assumption that Assange was off

Behind the Syrian Network for Human Rights: How an opposition front group became Western media’s go-to monitor

Top media outlets turn to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) for figures on deaths and detentions, never noting the group’s seamless connection to Syria’s opposition, the support it receives from states that waged war on the country, or its open lobbying for US military intervention. by Max Blumenthal Part 6 - Regime change journalism, hosted by Democracy Now, endorsed by Hillary Clinton As a former Beirut bureau chief for the New York Times who now enjoys a fellowship at the notoriously hawkish Council on Foreign Relations, Barnard would be hard to describe as a progressive muckraker. Yet her curiously sourced report on Syrian prisons earned her an invite nonetheless from progressive news program Democracy Now. Barnard told Democracy Now host Amy Goodman that the Syrian government was “ vacuuming up people literally including followers of Gandhi, ” suggesting that the rebellion was entirely peaceful while ignoring evidence that the opposition engaged in lethal
