Venezuela: The "revolution" of the rich

The myth of economic collapse and the Right-wing riot geography Conflicts between the police/government supporters and parts of the Right-wing opposition in Venezuela, resulted to 16 dead so far. The capital, Caracas, as well as the business center and wealthy eastern parts of the city become almost every day a battlefield as protesters build trenches with building materials and tires. The government however, arrested at least seven executives of the secret services accused for the death of protesters during protests on February 12, in an effort to minimize crisis. These arrests produced a new round of rumours in the global media concerning the coherence of the state mechanism, especially whether secret services have moved outside government's orders in the past. Many other incidents which indicate provocative operations remain unclear, like the assault of armed men on motorbikes against protesters. Despite the fact that economi

Cyprus fell as expected

“ Cyprus's parliament approved plans for privatizations on Tuesday, averting a showdown with international lenders who insist on state selloffs as part of a 10 billion-euro ($13.77 billion) bailout. In a show of hands, 30 lawmakers in the 56-member parliament endorsed a guideline for asset sales just before a deadline for approval expired on March 5. Parliament's rejection of an earlier privatization motion on February 27 risked derailing the bailout accord with the European Union and International Monetary Fund in March 2013. ” “ Left-wing parties rejected the plans, which call for converting the island's electricity, telecoms and ports utilities into joint-stock companies and seeking out strategic investors. It was supported by the ruling right-wing Democratic Rally party and a centrist party. ” http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/04/us-cyprus-privatisations-idUSBREA2310120140304 As Cyprus has left alone, it was a matter of time to vote for this

The closed system of the biggest black market

Legal US dollars are printed illegally to fund riots by system failure The myth of the good Americans who care about people's freedom has collapsed a long time ago. No one believes in this fairy tale today and possibly, not even those who revolt against tyrannic regimes. It seems that today, more than ever, the American people are increasingly losing trust to any US government, especially after the financial crisis of 2008 and the revelations concerning NSA interceptions, as it became totally clear that the system of power in the US and the planet belongs to the big banks and multinational corporations, in other words, to the global economic elite. It seems that, this system of power which completely controls governments, has set a very effective mechanism in order to protect and expand its interests and influence globally, by manufacturing a product that everyone wants: dollar. The effectiveness of this mechanism is due to the end of the gold standa

The second phase of the plan of neoliberal dictatorship in Italy

Italy is about to have another prime minister who will not be voted by the Italian citizens. The Enrico Letta resignation after the motion of no confidence inside the Democratic Party, has made many people to remember the conditions of the bloodless economic "Coup d'état" that brought Mario Monti to power. The Italian General Industry Federation (IGIF) appears to play a key role this time, as the leadership of the organization met with the general secretary of the party, Matteo Renzi, only a few days before Letta's "overthrow". What the Federation (the famous Confindustria) wants this time, is not just austerity policies imposed by Monti, but the radical change of the labor legislation in favor of the country's biggest businesses. Renzi's debut in the political arena with specific proposals, satisfies the most crazy dreams of IGIF, as these proposals contain, substantially, the abolition of elementary labor rights, for worke

Inventing threats to “US National Interests”

“ Pentagon appropriations and for military adventures abroad have included charges and accusations of supporting, harboring, or condoning terrorism; possessing, or in the process of producing, or having plans and intentions to produce weapons of mass destruction; engaging in drug trafficking, or collaborating with drug traffickers; obstructing democracy and/or free enterprise; and the like. ” “ The drastically increased number of U.S. military operations in various “trouble spots” of the world in the post–Cold War era is a reflection of this aggressive policy. The Federation of American Scientists has recorded a list of U.S. foreign military engagements that shows that in the first decade after the collapse of the Berlin Wall (1989–1999) the United States engaged in 134 such operations, the majority of which are altogether unknown to the American public. The following list is a sample: Operation Eagle Eye (Kosovo), Operation Determined Effort (Bosnia- Herzegovin

Viral: Montage on the internet

A Bulgarian police officer and a protester in Singapore, or, an old lady in Argentina and "Loukanikos" - the dog that gained global publicity for participating in demonstrations in the center of Athens: What do they have in common? All of them appeared in photos showing that they participated through various ways in conflicts after the anti-government demonstrations in Venezuela. Nicolas Maduro opposers were uploading photos of police brutality from all over the planet very fast, in order to promote their positions. Many of these photos became, as it is known, viral, which means that they have been reproduced very fast on the internet, in such extent that, they reached the reportage of a CNN journalist. The fact that, none of these photos were forged through picture processing programmes, but only pictures from other countries were used, made propaganda much more effective (although many people wondered why Venezuelan police officers wear fur hats, or, have Asi

Another lesson from the brave Cyprus

Cypriot parliament rejected (marginally) yesterday the bill for the privatization of public organizations leading the Cypriot bailout program to a dead end. Lenders have set this bill as a term to give the 1.5 billion euros lending dose to Cyprus. Meanwhile, outside the parliament thousands gathered to demonstrate against privatizations, demanding the rejection of the bill, while workers in public organizations (CYTA, ports, Electriciy Authority of Cyprus) went on strike. There were five neutral votes by MPs of the government coalition party DIKO, something which was crucial for the final result. Cyprus appears that is facing now also a political crisis, as DIKO decided to withdraw from the coalition government of Anastasiadis administration, as, according to some information, disagreed on the nature of negotiations with the Turkish-Cypriot side for the unification of Cyprus. http://www.sigmalive.com/news/politics/104907 http://www.sigmalive.com/news/oiko

The blackmail of the German economic oligarchy

... and another indication of where things are going in Europe and Germany Dimitris Kazakis, economist and leader of EPAM (United People's Front), a political formation against Troika neoliberal policies in Greece, has given a very important fact, speaking on journalist George Tragas' broadcast, last December: “ German economy, due to crisis, is changing direction. This changing direction is that, now, is gaining more advantages by selling money. This means that, actually, at the moment, German economy seeks to retain a very high, clear, international investment position, which means, how much capital exports, and exports 36% of GDP. It is the highest percentage in global economy. This is the main target, not products exports so much. ” This is a fact which shows that, the German economic oligarchy tries to protect its capital by any means, but also that, with this capital escape, blackmails German governments in order to force them to apply the "Greek e
