NO EURO Forum International

Temer actually admits that Rousseff was overthrown because she didn't support neoliberalism!

Coup in Brazil During a recent appearance at a corporate think tank, Brazilian President Michel Temer admitted that his predecessor, Dilma Rousseff, was impeached because she refused to implement a neoliberal reform plan published by Temer’s party. Rousseff was formally removed from office on Aug. 31 after the Brazilian senate voted to impeach her for breaking budgetary laws. This allowed Temer to take office despite a court ruling barring him from running for election. However, Rousseff and other critics of Temer have argued that her impeachment was actually a coup d’etat which set the stage for Temer to take power, backed by a government that’s more favorable to corporate investors. Appearing Wednesday before an audience in New York at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, a corporate think tank founded in 1965 by the powerful banker David Rockefeller, Temer appeared to admit that the impeachment had more to do with Rousseff’s refusal to ad

Mainstream media censor largest native mobilization in decades against Dakota access pipeline

As thousands of supporters around the world have joined demonstrations in solidarity with Native land and water defenders blocking the planned Dakota Access pipeline near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota, the largest Native mobilization in decades remains absent from some of the biggest news media in the United States. Jim Naureckas, editor of the media watchdog site FAIR.org, released a report on Thursday which noted that “ to this day, ABC News and NBC News have yet to broadcast a word about the pipeline struggle. ” Among the “Big Three” television networks, CBS first broached the story on Sept. 5, in “ a lone report on CBS Morning News (9/5/16), amounting to 48 words read at 4 o’clock in the morning, ” although Naureckas found the channel has since “ returned to the story repeatedly. ” While other news channels, including MSNBC, CNN, PBS, and even Fox News, have reported the standoff, none have mentioned Democracy Now! host Amy Good

Gary Johnson: I would pardon Snowden

Amid a renewed debate about Edward Snowden, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson said Saturday he would pardon the whistleblower based on his knowledge of the case. In an interview at The Texas Tribune Festival, Johnson, the former New Mexico governor, was deeply skeptical of how the United States is using the kind of intelligence capabilities brought to light by Snowden. Snowden, a former government contractor, faces charges under the Espionage Act for leaking classified information about the National Security Agency to reporters in 2013. “ I would like to see … these satellites turned away from 110 million Verizon users, ” Johnson said. “ I’d like to see the satellites turned away from you and I as U.S. citizens, recognizing that there is due process out there for anyone that’s suspected of crime or harm against the rest of us. ” A new campaign is underway to persuade President Barack Obama to pardon Snowden, the subject of a biographical mov
