NY Times, Washington Post driving US to war with Russia over Ukraine

Amid tough talk from European and American leaders, a new MintPress study of our nation’s most influential media outlets reveals that it is the press that is driving the charge towards war with Russia over Ukraine. Ninety percent of recent opinion articles in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal have taken a hawkish view on conflict, with anti-war voices few and far between. Opinion columns have overwhelmingly expressed support for sending U.S. weapons and troops to the region. Russia has universally been presented as the aggressor in this dispute, with media glossing over NATO’s role in amping tensions while barely mentioning the U.S. collaboration with Neo-Nazi elements within the Ukrainian ruling coalition. by Alan Macleod   Part 1 -  Periodic hysteria Western media and governments have expressed alarm over a suspected buildup of Russian military forces close to its over-1200-mile border with Ukraine. There are reportedly almost 100,000 troops in that

In the days of Tito and Allende, Yugoslavia helped define Chilean Socialism

Chile’s new president, Gabriel Boric, has stressed the importance of his Yugoslav roots. But well before Boric's rise to prominence, across much of the last century, Yugoslav socialism was a major influence on the Chilean left.   by Agustín Cosovschi   Part 4 - Boric and the Invention of the Nation After a long and bloody dictatorship and several decades of neoliberal administration, the current Chilean context is certainly not the same as in the 1970s. What is more, socialist Yugoslavia not only ceased to exist but did so in one of contemporary Europe’s most violent and fratricidal conflicts. Yet the coming to power of Gabriel Boric, a democratic socialist militant of Yugoslav background, might be an omen of better times to come. In the days following last month’s election, Boric’s background was the subject of much discussion in the media and on social networks. Even decades after the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s — in which elites in almost all republics exploited the federation’s

6 million killed by the US Empire in 20 years

Redacted Tonight   The US Empire has a thriving prison state at home and a brutal legacy abroad. Lee Camp goes into some of the bloody numbers connected to these systems of oppression. He also reports on the real reason for the US’s push for war with Russia, and a new report on the impacts of climate change.

US again tries to pass off government assertions as evidence

by Caitlin Johnstone   The western media are blaring headlines today about a "revelation" by the US government which does not actually reveal anything because it contains nothing but empty narrative fluff. " U.S. reveals Russian plot to use fake video as pretense for Ukraine invasion ," reads a headline from CBS News. " US reveals Russia may plan to create fake pretext for Ukraine invasion, " claims another from The Hill. The claim is that the Russian government is plotting to fabricate a false flag operation using a graphic video with crisis actors in order to manufacture a pretense for a full-scale military invasion. State Department Spokesman Ned Price and AP reporter Matt Lee had an exchange about this claim at a Thursday press conference that you simply must watch if you haven't already.    Lee pointed out that claims about false flags and crisis actors were "getting into Alex Jones territory" and asked for the evidence for these extraor

Democrats are pressuring companies to censor for them: a violation of the First Amendment

Glenn Greenwald  Defenders of growing online censorship typically use euphemisms to argue that private companies have the right to make whatever "content moderation" decisions they want. Even if true, that's not what is happening. Democrats are using their majority power in Washington to pressure companies to censor for them. Jen Psaki's demands on Spotify to do more about Joe Rogan is just the latest example of this unconstitutional practice.

Οι γραφειοφασίστες των Βρυξελλών ετοιμάζονται να αντικαταστήσουν το Μητσοτακικό καθεστώς με καθεστώς τεχνοκρατών

Day 1030: Julian Assange still in prison and under slow-motion execution by the Anglo-American imperialist criminals

failed evolution   World's number one political prisoner, Julian Assange, still in high security prison for exposing horrendous war crimes carried out by the US imperialists and their allies.   The ruthless Western imperialist regime wants to punish the No1 real journalist in the world and make him an example for any Whistleblower or real journalist who will attempt to expose its big crimes in the future.   That Assange, who is in precarious physical and psychological health and who suffered a stroke during court video proceedings, has been condemned to death should not come as a surprise. The ten years he has been detained, seven in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and nearly three in the high security Belmarsh prison, were accompanied with a lack of sunlight and exercise and unrelenting threats, pressure, anxiety and stress.    His steady physical and psychological deterioration has led to hallucinations and depression. He takes antidepressant medication and the antipsych

The media outlets demanding Joe Rogan's removal from Spotify spread far more disinformation

Glenn Greenwald   To justify their efforts to pressure Spotify to remove Joe Rogan, employees of media corporations claim to be deeply concerned by the "disinformation" he is spreading. Yet nobody spreads disinformation more aggressively, destructively or recklessly than these media corporations, strongly suggesting some different motive in wanting Rogan silenced.

Chile’s new president, Gabriel Boric, has stressed the importance of his Yugoslav roots. But well before Boric's rise to prominence, across much of the last century, Yugoslav socialism was a major influence on the Chilean left.   by Agustín Cosovschi   Part 3 - The Non-Aligned Movement and Global Socialism In 1948, after a series of clashes with the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia was expelled from the community of socialist states. Threatened with isolation in an increasingly polarized world, Belgrade set out to expand its network of allies beyond European shores. The recently decolonized nations of Asia and Africa, as well as the economically dependent nations of Latin America, became a priority in Yugoslav foreign policy.    With time, and in tandem with other rising African and Asian powers, such as Nasser’s Egypt and Nehru’s India, Yugoslav endeavors in what would later be known as the “Third World” would lead to the creation of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961, an alternative projec
