A high-tech giant deeply connected with US intelligence agencies behind a potential voter manipulation operation in Greece
A disturbing revelation came on surface lately by the Greek independent press. And while it has been almost completely ignored by the big media in Greece, it has been extensively circulated and discussed throughout the Greek social media network.
According to an article on Sunday's (20 December) paper edition of the newspaper Documento, current Greek PM, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has kept secret from the public, the collaboration with a US high-tech giant with dark connections and activity.
The company is Palantir and it is well known for its involvement in huge scandals of interceptions coming from the NSA-Cambridge Analytica-Facebook complex.
With the permission of the Greek PM - who is taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic - Palantir is harvesting and analyzing data from Greek citizens. The government is collecting data today that may be proved useful tomorrow, as the scenario of a general election before the normal completion of Mitsotakis' administration term in 2023, is becoming more and more probable.
As Documento notes, Palantir collaborated with Cambridge Analytica, using psychometric methods and algorithms to analyze specific Facebook data from millions of users.
Based on the specific data analysis, the company categorized Facebook users in various groups with common characteristics. One of the groups was named "the gullible". The next stage was to manipulate and influence this group. People of this group had been "bombarded" with specific messages, fake news, videos etc. As a result of the whole operation, many American citizens voted for Trump, while many British citizens voted for Brexit.
Palantir's "technical expertise" could be proved extremely useful to the
current Greek government in order to win the election again.
Note that New Democracy won the last election due to the overwhelming support of the big media network and a massive anti-SYRIZA (The Coalition of the Radical Left party of the previous Greek PM Alexis Tsipras) propaganda operation.
As has been mentioned, the Greek media begun a new round of propaganda
against Tsipras administration. They managed to persuade many Greeks
that the agreement for the name of North Macedonia was an act of treason
against Greece's national interest. And that, New Democracy, the
traditional right, is still patriotic and would had never sign such an
agreement. This was actually the epicenter of propaganda. Of course, the
truth is that the neoliberal New Democracy would had sign whatever the
Western imperialists wanted. It's ideologically identical with them,
after all.
So, it's quite probable that New Democracy and Mitsotakis had already received some special advice from Palantir to manipulate voters and use the big media to spread the propaganda, before the 2019 general election. As Documento reports, Mitsotakis had already met with Palantir CEO, Alex Karp, during a Bilderberg Group meeting in the summer of 2018.
As reported in 2019 by Whitney Webb:
After the success of its contract with the CIA, Palantir became a contractor for a variety of federal agencies, including the FBI, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) and the military’s Special Operations Command, among others. Last year, it won a contract to create a new battlefield intelligence system for the U.S. Army. Palantir is also in demand for its “pre-crime technology,” which has been used by several U.S. police departments. According to the Guardian, “Palantir tracks everyone from potential terrorist suspects to corporate fraudsters, child traffickers and what they refer to as ‘subversives’… it is all done using prediction.”
In the Greek parliament yesterday, SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, requested from the government to give details about its connections with Palantir. And especially, to reveal the details of the contract with the company.
It is rather unlikely that this government will give any explanation, as already proves that it is one of the most corrupted and insufficient governments of the last decades in Greece.
