MBS: spread of Wahhabism was done at request of West during Cold War

As RT reported a year ago: The Saudi-funded spread of Wahhabism began as a result of Western countries asking Riyadh to help counter the Soviet Union during the Cold War, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the Washington Post. Speaking to the paper, bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia's Western allies urged the country to invest in mosques and madrassas overseas during the Cold War, in an effort to prevent encroachment in Muslim countries by the Soviet Union.  He added that successive Saudi governments had lost track of that effort, saying " we have to get it all back. " Bin Salman also said that funding now comes mostly from Saudi-based " foundations, " rather than from the government. How Joe Biden’s privatization plans helped doom Latin America and fuel the migration crisis

On the campaign trail, Joe Biden has boasted of his role in transforming Colombia and Central America through ambitious economic and security programs. Colombians and Hondurans tell The Grayzone about the damage his plans did to their societies. by Max Blumenthal Part 2 - ‘I was one of the architects of Plan Colombia’ In an interview with CNN on July 5, Biden was asked if he favored decriminalizing the entry of Latin American migrants to the United States. Responding with a definitive “no,” Joe Biden stated that he would be “ surging folks to the border to make those concrete decisions ” about who receives asylum. Biden argued that he had the best record of addressing the root causes of the migration crisis, recalling how he imposed a solution on Central America’s migration crisis. “ You do the following things to make your country better so people don’t leave, and we will help you do that, just like we did in Colombia ,” he said. “ What did we do in Colombia? Russiagate as organized distraction

Oliver Boyd-Barrett looks at who benefits from having the corporate media suffocate their public with a puerile narrative for over two years. by Oliver Boyd-Barrett Part 3 - Russian Contacts Deplored Attention is being directed away from substantial, and substantiated, problems and onto trivial, and unsubstantiated, problems. Moreover, in a climate of manufactured McCarthyite hysteria, Russiagate further presupposes that any communication between a presidential campaign and Russia is in itself deplorable. Even if one were to confine this conversation only to communication between ruling oligarchs of both the U.S. and Russia, however, the opposite would surely be the case. This is not simply because of the benefits that accrue from a broader understanding of the world, identification of shared interests and opportunities, and their promise for peaceful relations. A real politick analysis might advise the insertion of wedges between China and Russia so as to head off the per

A year after Nicaragua’s coup, the media’s regime-change deceptions are still unraveling

Corporate media outlets blamed Nicaragua’s government for a deadly arson attack during the 2018 coup attempt, but new information raises serious doubts about the official story, highlighting the campaign of regime-change misinformation. by John Perry Part 7 - A pattern of misleading reporting If the treatment by the international media of the Carlos Marx house fire were exceptional, it might not be so important that they overlooked basic facts in this case. But sadly this pattern was repeated in coverage of most of the worst incidents in last year’s violence in Nicaragua, including the murder of the journalist Ángel Gahona while he was broadcasting live in Bluefields (also covered by Goette-Luciak for The Guardian ), and the murder of four police officers and a teacher in an armed attack in the small town of Morrito.  Hardly an incident occurred in which the main international media, including outlets like The Guardian who take pride in their independent journalism, ba

Top agent of the global financial mafia sends message to Brexiteers: 'we will not put you in the game'

globinfo freexchange In a recent article we analyzed the Brexit case from the perspective of an endo-capitalist war between the globalist faction and the pro-Brexit faction that senses an existential threat. We wrote that, the 31st October is a deadline given by the pro-Brexit capital faction through Boris Johnson. If the globalist faction wants a smooth Brexit through a deal with the EU, it will have to proceed in a permanent truce with the pro-Brexit faction. If it wants to postpone and even reverse Brexit, it will have to give much more. That is, give a privileged position to the pro-Brexit capitalists, in order for them not only to survive, but even gain significantly from one more transformation of the global capitalist system. The transformation that will occur after the next global financial meltdown.  It appears that the global financial mafia has sent a first indirect message to the Brexiteers (through one of its top agents), that it will not retreat to their dem
