Pro-Brexit capitalists desperately seek a suitable Thatcherite zombie to govern Britain

by system failure

We can almost certainly conclude that the removal of Boris Johnson from the position of the UK prime minister came as a result of a counter-attack of the liberal globalist faction against the pro-Brexit faction in the capitalist civil war.

And it is almost certain that the utterly grotesque political figure of Liz Truss was a far more easy target for the anti-Brexit liberal capitalists. It took them only 45 days to overthrow her, making her the shortest serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Liberal capitalists proved that Truss-type politicians are a 'piece of cake' for them, especially when they decide to mobilize the global markets and their agents inside the Tories.

As George Monbiot reveals, Truss' policies shaped by lobby groups like the Institute of Economic Affairs, the TaxPayers' Alliance and the Adam Smith Institute. It seems that these are some key groups behind BrexitCentral website. And together, they form a network of rightwing thinktanks that heavily promoted Brexit, as well as the most aggressive form of neoliberalism and free market fundamentalism.

We can also assume that the liberal capitalists were pissed off with Truss' outrageously cynical manner through which she openly attempted to promote the most brutal form of neoliberalism. While at the same time, she completely ignored the accumulative difficulties that Britons face in their everyday lives. Liberal elites prefer to promote neoliberalism in secrecy to hide the fact that this destructive doctrine is responsible for the rapidly growing inequalities and long-term catastrophic effects for the majority of the societies.

As we wrote back in 2019, despite the capitalist civil war, both major factions of the British capital remain deeply neoliberal in their ideological core. However, it seems that the pro-Brexit faction has adopted a Thatcherian form of neoliberalization, in which the nationalist factor is quite evident. This is necessary in order to attract conservative voters who feel abandoned, or even threatened by the globalist elite.

On the other hand, the faction of the globalized capital has adopted an international form of neoliberalization. It has bought the politicians of the political center which includes representatives of all types of minorities. In this way, the globalized capital attempts to attract the younger and most progressive voters. Of course, there is nothing progressive behind its deeper goal, which is the unlimited global expansion and elimination of all competitors by all means.

It seems that the pro-Brexit capitalist faction attempted to copy the liberal tactics of identity politics by putting first Liz Truss in charge and now Rishi Sunak. And although it is quite doubtful that Sunak will survive for much longer in the position, the fact that he is a hardcore Thatcherite neoliberal too is being kept aside for now by the media. Something tells us that he will eventually become an easy target too, forcing Brexiteers to seek desperately for another Thatcherite zombie, more capable to survive the liberal attacks.

However, the most important in this ugly political scenery, is that it demonstrates, with the most emphatic way, the radical decline of the Western Democracy.

While capitalist factions play their ruthless games, replacing in power their unelected political puppets as they please, people have become irrelevant and completely powerless.

The situation in Britain now is another proof of what we already mentioned: that inside this ruthless capitalist war, people have become almost irrelevant. What only matters for the political puppets is to secure the interests of the capitalist faction they represent. The rampageous bulls of capitalism are fighting each other in an arena in which democracy has now turned into dust under their violent clatters.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Stephen Hawking confirms: The problem is Capitalism, not robots!

globinfo freexchange According to world famous physicist Stephen Hawking, the rising use of automated machines may mean the end of human rights – not just jobs. But he’s not talking about robots with artificial intelligence taking over the world, he’s talking about the current capitalist political system and its major players. On Reddit, Hawking said that the economic gap between the rich and the poor will continue to grow as more jobs are automated by machines, and the owners of said machines hoard them to create more wealth for themselves. The insatiable thirst for capitalist accumulation bestowed upon humans by years of lies and terrible economic policy has affected technology in such a way that one of its major goals has become to replace human jobs. If we do not take this warning seriously, we may face unfathomable corporate domination. If we let the same people who buy and sell our political system and resources maintain control of automated technology, the...

Iran could be the US’s Boer war: a hollow victory that marks the beginning of the end of empire

US leaders anticipated a walkover. Now they’re embroiled in a conflict that could hasten the end of US economic dominance  by Larry Elliott   Nobody gave the Boers a prayer when the war in South Africa began in 1899. It was farmers ranged against the might of the British empire, and the expectation was that resistance would quickly crumble. Eventually, might did prevail. Britain won the Boer war, but it was a hollow victory that took the best part of three years to achieve and came at a high cost. The blow to British prestige – coming at a time when its global hegemony was under threat from fast-growing countries such as the US – was severe. Far from highlighting the extent of Britain’s power, it exposed its limitations. A century and a quarter later, the US risks being embroiled in its equivalent of the Boer war. What should have been a walkover threatens to become a prolonged conflict. The Iranians are using guerrilla tactics, just as the Boers did, with much success. There ...
