Breaking: Explosion of a trapped vehicle outside the Bank of Greece

At 5:55 Greece time this morning the explosion outside the BoG at the intersection of Amerikis and Stadiou streets. No victims. There was a call at the newspaper "Efimerida ton Syntakton" and zougla.gr 45 minutes earlier.

The unknown man who called said that a trapped vehicle was loaded with 75 kilos of explosives.

The center of Athens was isolated immediately by the authorities and workers from the buildings in the area were removed.

The driver of the vehicle left it unlocked early on Thursday morning and run away. A motorcycle, with which he escaped, was following him until he parked the car. The incident was recorded by security cameras, but the pictures are not clear due to the darkness at that time.
