Ύπατη Αρμοστεία: Πάνω από 51 εκατομμύρια βίαια εκτοπισμένοι το 2013

“Η νέα έκθεση της Υ.Α. για τις 'Τάσεις Ασύλου', η οποία βασίζεται σε στοιχεία από 44 κυβερνήσεις στην Ευρώπη, τη Βόρεια Αμερική και περιοχές της Ασίας-Ειρηνικού, αναφέρει ότι 330.700 άνθρωποι ζήτησαν το προσφυγικό καθεστώς σε αυτές τις χώρες από τις αρχές Ιανουαρίου μέχρι το τέλος Ιουνίου. Ο αριθμός αυτός αντιστοιχεί σε αύξηση κατά 24%,σε σύγκριση με την προηγούμενη χρονιά και είναι ελαφρώς υψηλότερος από το δεύτερο εξάμηνο του περασμένου έτους (όταν κατατέθηκαν 328.100 αιτήματα ασύλου).”

“Η έκθεση προειδοποιεί ότι το 2014 θα μπορούσαν να υπάρξουν μέχρι και 700.000 αιτήσεις ασύλου, καθώς, ιστορικά, σημειώνονται περισσότερα αιτήματα κατά το δεύτερο εξάμηνο κάθε έτους. Ο αριθμός αυτός θα είναι ο υψηλότερος των τελευταίων 20 ετών για τις βιομηχανικά ανεπτυγμένες χώρες, αγγίζοντας επίπεδα που δεν έχουν παρατηρηθεί από τη δεκαετία του 1990 και τις συγκρούσεις στην πρώην Γιουγκοσλαβία.”

“Παρά τη συνολική αύξηση των νέων αιτήσεων ασύλου που εμφανίζεται στην έκθεση, περισσότερα από τα δύο τρίτα των αιτημάτων έγιναν σε έξι μόλις χώρες – στη Γερμανία, τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, τη Γαλλία, τη Σουηδία, την Τουρκία και την Ιταλία.”

“Συνολικά, η Συρία ήταν η κύρια χώρα προέλευσης των ατόμων που ζήτησαν άσυλο, με υπερδιπλασιασμό του αριθμού τους (48.400 αιτήσεις σε σύγκριση με τις 18.900 την ίδια περίοδο του 2013). Από το Ιράκ, όπου εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες άνθρωποι εκτοπίστηκαν φέτος, προήλθαν 21.300 αιτήσεις ασύλου. Ακολουθεί το Αφγανιστάν (19.300) και η Ερυθραία (18.900).”

“Ο αριθμός των ατόμων οι οποίοι υπέβαλαν αίτημα διεθνούς προστασίας στις 44 βιομηχανικά ανεπτυγμένες χώρες που καλύπτονται από την έκθεση αποτελεί ένα μόνο στοιχείο της συνολικής εικόνας του αναγκαστικού εκτοπισμού λόγω πολέμων και συγκρούσεων. Παγκοσμίως, 51,2 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι είχαν υποστεί βίαιο εκτοπισμό μέχρι το τέλος του 2013. Οι περισσότεροι είτε είναι εσωτερικά εκτοπισμένοι εντός των συνόρων της χώρας τους είτε φιλοξενούνται ως πρόσφυγες σε κράτη που συνορεύουν με εμπόλεμες ζώνες.”
