Θλιβερή εικόνα με ακόμα ένα ψέμα ...

“Εικόνα που παραπέμπει στις πιο φρικτές στιγμές του 20ου αιώνα έδωσε ο Α. Σαμαράς με τις δηλώσεις που έκανε μπροστά στον φράχτη του Έβρου. Η εμφάνιση ενός υποψήφιου πολιτικού σαν δεσμοφύλακα μπροστά σε στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης θεωρείται λάθος που δεν θα έκανε κανένας υπεύθυνος επικοινωνίας. Η δήλωσή του απερχόμενου πρωθυπουργού όμως περιείχε και σειρά από ψέμματα σχετικά με την αποτελεσματικότητα του φράχτη.”

“Όπως απέδειξε η ομάδα Μετανάστευσης του ΕΛΙΑΜΕΠ (που μόνο σαν αντικυβερνητική δεν μπορεί να χαρακτηριστεί) ο φράχτης στοίχισε δεκάδες εκατομμύρια ευρώ αλλά το βασικό αποτέλεσμα από την δημιουργία του ήταν η μεταφορά των μεταναστευτικών ροών προς τα θαλάσσια περάσματα του Αιγαίου. Σε έκθεσή της με τίτλο 'Αξιολογώντας τη σχέση κόστους-αποτελέσματος των πολιτικών ελέγχου της παράτυπης μετανάστευσης στην Ελλάδα' η ερευνήτρια Άννα Τριανταφυλλίδου και η επιστημονική της ομάδας απέδειξαν ότι το μισό δισεκατομμύριο που ξόδεψαν οι κυβερνήσεις ΝΔ-ΠΑΣΟΚ έφερε πενιχρά αποτελέσματα.”

“Ειδικά για τον φράχτη του έβρου η Εφημερίδα των Συντακτών ανέφερε τότε σε σχετικό ρεπορτάζ της: 'Είναι χαρακτηριστικό το παράδειγμα του φράχτη στον Εβρο και της επιχείρησης 'Ασπίδα', που τοποθέτησε 1.900 αστυνομικούς κατά μήκος των χερσαίων ελληνοτουρκικών συνόρων. Τη διετία 2010-2012, ο έλεγχος των συνόρων στον Εβρο κόστισε 67 εκατομμύρια ευρώ (το κόστος του φράχτη ήταν συνολικά 5,5 εκατομμύρια ευρώ, από τα οποία τα 3,16 εκατομμύρια δόθηκαν στην κατασκευαστική εταιρεία. Τους πρώτους έντεκα μήνες, όσο διατηρούταν το σύνολο των αστυνομικών στην περιοχή, η επιχείρηση 'Ασπίδα' κόστισε 24 εκατομμύρια ευρώ). Εκ πρώτης όψεως, θα μπορούσε να θεωρηθεί ότι τα χρήματα έπιασαν τόπο, καθώς πράγματι σχεδόν εκμηδενίστηκε η μεταναστευτική ροή στον Εβρο. Στην πραγματικότητα, όμως, οι μετανάστες στράφηκαν στα θαλάσσια περάσματα του Αιγαίου και το πρόβλημα απλά μετατοπίστηκε, δημιουργώντας νέους πονοκεφάλους για τον έλεγχο των θαλάσσιων συνόρων'.”
