Latest WikiLeaks revelation and its treatment by the mainstream press explicitly demonstrate why the imperialists are determined to eliminate Julian Assange

On November, 23, WikiLeaks published an e-mail, sent by a member of an OPCW fact-finding mission to Syria to his superiors, in which he expresses his gravest concern over intentional bias introduced to a redacted version of the report he co-authored.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons sent a team of experts to investigate allegations that a chemical attack took place in the Syrian city of Douma on the 7th of April 2018. The author of the e-mail was a member of that team and claims the redacted preliminary version of the report, misrepresents the facts he and his colleagues discovered on the ground. The e-mail is dated 22nd of June. It is addressed to Robert Fairweather, Chief of Cabinet, and forwarded to his deputy Aamir Shouket and members of the fact-finding mission to Douma.  

In short, the OPCW whistleblower actually claims that the report has been somehow altered. And it was done in a way to fit the scenario, according to which, the Assad forces attacked civilians in Douma using chemical weapons.

Having the experience of the big lies that led us to the US invasion of Iraq and a disastrous war, many independent journalists and individuals didn't buy the Douma chemical attack scenario. From the first moment, many people suspected that this was just another typical false flag operation to justify another US intervention.

There were two basic facts that led many to believe that this was just another false flag. First, the fact that Assad was winning the war against the Al-Qaeda/Al-Nusra US proxies, and therefore, he was about to restore most of the Syrian territories with the help of his Russian allies. Therefore, it would have been completely absurd to give an excuse for the US to intervene at this stage of the operations. Second, the fact that the Western allies rushed to bomb Syria on the pretext of the alleged chemical attack. And they did it without even waiting for the experts on the ground to deliver their report. 

Subsequently, we had plenty of evidence that there was no chemical attack in Douma. The British veteran journalist, Robert Fisk, was the first Western journalist to reach the area and speak to people in Douma. According to a Syrian doctor, there was no evidence of a chemical attack. The doctor reported that "people [were] suffering from hypoxia – not gas poisoning.”

On May, 25, 2019, The Grayzone revealed that a leaked report by OPCW itself challenged the claim that the Syrian government carried out a chemical weapons attack in Douma. Aaron Maté interviewed Theodore Postol, an award-winning scientist and MIT professor who analyzed the report findings, showing, effectively, that the gas attack was staged. “The evidence is overwhelming that the gas attacks were staged,” Postol said. And he concluded that "This is 'inventing pretexts' in order to justify military actions."

But Postol also gave credit to the whistleblower of the report, saying characteristically: "Somebody - God bless them - had the courage to say 'I had enough of this', and passed this into the public domain. And this is a good sign for many reasons. First of all, gets the truth out. But secondly, it also indicates that there is a very high-level of professionalism in the staff of the OPCW." This statement is very important because it proves that OPCW itself is being pressured to align with the political agenda of the imperialist West. However, many OPCW real professionals, refuse to play the game and become whistleblowers in order to give the real picture to the public.



Note also that nearly a year after the incident in Douma, a BBC reporter who investigated the incident on the ground has issued public statements saying the "Assad sarin attack" on Douma was indeed "staged".



So, this second, most recent leak through WikiLeaks by an OPCW member, spoiled again the narrative that the imperialist West so desperately insists to support. Contrary to all the amount of evidence.

It is obvious that the imperialist propaganda machine was mobilized immediately to "fix" the new "anomaly" produced by another OPCW leak that ruins the Assad-is-using-chemicals-against-his-people narrative. The Western imperialists and their Middle East allies just can't accept the fact that their proxies have been defeated in Syria. They still want to get rid of Assad by all means. Even if this is translated to one more tragedy, with thousands of dead, thousands of refugees and another ruined nation.

So, now we come to the point we should ask ourselves: what would have happened if there were no whistleblowers and WikiLeaks? Which Western mainstream platform would had report all these leaks? It appears that the answer is "probably none". And this shows you clearly why the Western imperialists are determined to eliminate Julian Assange. And then, hunt down WikiLeaks, whistleblowers and any other independent voice who will seek to spread the truth, spoiling their imperialist plans.

And in fact, the hunt has officially started ...
