Former CIA high-ranking official accidentally reveals the type of the false flag operation that the US imperialists will orchestrate to start a war with Iran

In the following video, Jimmy Dore makes an analysis of an interview that the former CIA deputy director, Michael Morell, gave on CBS, regarding the recent developments after the assassination of the Iranian major general, Qasem Soleimani.

Morell describes a probable scenario according to which the Iranians and their proxies could retaliate further. And therefore, this will naturally and eventually lead the US to start a war with Iran. As Morell points out:

Hopefully, that can de-escalate now, but that doesn't mean the covert war is over. [...] There are two things we need to think about here. One is, still, down the road, at some point, an assassination of a senior US official, somewhere in the world, could be months from now, to get revenge. And then, two, we still have to worry about those Iranian proxies. They may still attack US military bases ...

Note, that this interview was taken AFTER the Iranian retaliation through the missile attack on US military bases inside Iraqi soil, as a response to the assassination of Soleimani.

Yet, perhaps what's more interesting, is the fact that Morell gave an interview, again on CBS, right after the assassination of Soleimani, but BEFORE the Iranian retaliation. The quite impressive thing here is that Morell repeated the same scenario as the most probable, yet he also said that Iran could respond militarily (as eventually happened), something which could lead the US to war with Iran.

Morell's interviews indicate a specific pattern through which the US deep state attempts to escalate tension and eventually, start a war with Iran. It is probable that the easily maneuverable Trump was manipulated by the warhawks, who persuaded him to give the order for this unprecedented action. It is also probable that Trump pulled back the last minute and didn't start the war as he knew that this would mean his political ending. We know that many Americans voted him because of his alleged 'anti-interventionism'.

So, Morell actully revealed the deep state strategy and even a rough timeline. As he said in his second interview, "an assassination of a senior US official, somewhere in the world, could be months from now". As we already pointed out, the US imperialists escalate tension with Iran, trying to achieve a maximum that will coincide with the 2020 US presidential election. The US deep state will take action to eliminate the chances of any anti-war progressive to become the next US president. Then, either a corporate Democrat or Trump will follow the plan and start a war with Iran.

And perhaps even more impressively, Morell's revelation is remarkably close to what we predicted through our article How the US deep state could justify a war with Iran with two consecutive false flag operations, more than a year ago.

As we wrote back then:

In a first false flag operation, the US intelligence will seek to stage the assassination of one of the most hawkish high-ranking officials in Trump administration. Of course, they will 'discover' pro-Iran 'terrorists' behind this action, or foreign secret agents working with Iran, or find some similar story to put the blame on Iran. [...] Yet, since such a false flag may still be proved inadequate to convince the public about the necessity of another war, the US deep state may stage a second false flag operation as a 'terrorist attack' inside the US soil and put the blame on some kind of 'Iranian extremists'. For the deep state evil brains US citizens are expendable, after all. Whatever it takes to proceed with their plans.

Check out Morell's highlighted words above and spot similarities and differences.

But even without any false flag operations, we are already now at the point of no-return. The bloodthirsty imperialists managed to put again the explosive fuel at the heart of the Middle East. The slightest spark will be enough to help them start another, even more disastrous war, at the time they will choose. And this would be definitely right after the 2020 US presidential election because whichever puppet they choose, they will have a clear four-year period ahead to spread further chaos in the Middle East.

So, either with Trump, or, a corporate Democrat, it seems that the war with Iran is inevitable.

Yet, the Americans do have some restricted options. It seems that only a real, anti-war progressive as the next US president could save the country not only from the ruthless neoliberalism, but also from another, even more disastrous war. It seems that, for the moment, there are only two options: Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. Until the day of the presidential election, the deep state will fight them fiercely.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Stephen Hawking confirms: The problem is Capitalism, not robots!

globinfo freexchange According to world famous physicist Stephen Hawking, the rising use of automated machines may mean the end of human rights – not just jobs. But he’s not talking about robots with artificial intelligence taking over the world, he’s talking about the current capitalist political system and its major players. On Reddit, Hawking said that the economic gap between the rich and the poor will continue to grow as more jobs are automated by machines, and the owners of said machines hoard them to create more wealth for themselves. The insatiable thirst for capitalist accumulation bestowed upon humans by years of lies and terrible economic policy has affected technology in such a way that one of its major goals has become to replace human jobs. If we do not take this warning seriously, we may face unfathomable corporate domination. If we let the same people who buy and sell our political system and resources maintain control of automated technology, the...

Iran could be the US’s Boer war: a hollow victory that marks the beginning of the end of empire

US leaders anticipated a walkover. Now they’re embroiled in a conflict that could hasten the end of US economic dominance  by Larry Elliott   Nobody gave the Boers a prayer when the war in South Africa began in 1899. It was farmers ranged against the might of the British empire, and the expectation was that resistance would quickly crumble. Eventually, might did prevail. Britain won the Boer war, but it was a hollow victory that took the best part of three years to achieve and came at a high cost. The blow to British prestige – coming at a time when its global hegemony was under threat from fast-growing countries such as the US – was severe. Far from highlighting the extent of Britain’s power, it exposed its limitations. A century and a quarter later, the US risks being embroiled in its equivalent of the Boer war. What should have been a walkover threatens to become a prolonged conflict. The Iranians are using guerrilla tactics, just as the Boers did, with much success. There ...
