Why the US imperialists will start a war with Iran right after the 2020 US presidential election

by system failure

Even before 2016 US presidential election we were arguing in this blog that Donald Trump is only the reserve of the establishment, a necessity solution. The first signs, right after his election, were indicating that we were right. Trump literally hired Goldman Sachs to run the economy and immediately authorized further tax-cuts for the super-rich, contrary to his pre-election rhetoric.

Then, things got even worse by hiring some of the most bloodthirsty neocons in key positions. Trump's 'anti-establishment' facade was rapidly collapsing as he was  starting to move towards the US deep state agenda. In fact, the only card left to play was that of his alleged 'anti-interventionism'. Yet, he succumbed further to the US pro-war cabal by bombing Syria, without even waiting to see some evidence about Assad's alleged chemical attacks against civilians.

Beyond that, he continued Obama's awful legacy regarding the war in Yemen, by arming Saudis and providing military support for their war crimes.

Even in his pre-election campaigns, Trump was rhetorically attacking Iran, a key player in the Middle East and longtime primary target of the US imperialism. Then, he hired John Bolton, one of the most sinister figures of the neocon gang, whose biggest 'wet dream' was to start a war with Iran at least since 2003. And, despite that Trump eventually fired him, it seems that he follows his plan to the letter.

So, the first thing Trump did to clear the way for the imperialists towards Iran, was to destroy the Iran nuclear deal. Without any reasonable excuse, Trump killed a deal that seemed to be working, and managed to dissatisfy even some of the closest US allies who were happy with it.

Then, he did the unimaginable thing to authorize the assassination of a top Iranian military official, who was also a leading figure of the fight against ISIS islamofascists.

Trump's latest decision was not only unprecedented. It was taken in a time conveniently close to the 2020 US presidential election, permitting the US warhawks to achieve a maximum escalation with Iran right when they needed one.

So, the hyper-impulsive and easily-maneuverable Trump did exactly what they wanted. Even without any false flag operations, we are already now at the point of no-return. The bloodthirsty imperialists managed to put again the explosive fuel at the heart of the Middle East. The slightest spark will be enough to help them start another, even more disastrous war, at the time they will choose. And this would be definitely right after the 2020 US presidential election.

But why right after the 2020 election?

First of all, a war with Iran before the election would be the utter disaster for neocons' plans. It would not only mean the political ending of Donald Trump (this is the only reason he didn't start a war after the Iranian retaliation). It would also boost the popularity of any anti-war progressive who would most likely become the next US president, as the tired-from-endless-wars Americans would vote for him/her massively. And in the midst of the unprecedented chaos because of the war, this president would have all the popular support to end it as soon as possible. Otherwise, the US deep state would have to take the risk of some extreme solutions. Like, for example, an 'emergency situation' plan on the pretext of the war, in order to postpone the election and, at the same time, extent Trump's presidency. With all the chaos and the rising popular anger, the whole country would soon be getting into 'uncharted waters'.

So, the imperialists will probably start a war with Iran as soon as possible after the 2020 presidential election. They will rush to do it because they don't want to give Iran enough time to build nuclear weapons. Right now, Donald Trump is the most convenient solution because he is still quite popular among his supporters. And he will not hesitate to follow the war schedule as he knows that he can't have a third term.

But even an 'expendable' corporate Democrat would be quite easily maneuverable by the US deep state. Any establishment candidate is now unwilling to use pro-war rhetoric because they see the rising popularity of Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. Yet, the deep state won't find difficult to drag any weak establishment Democrat into another war, by orchestrating some typical false flag operations.

We can only guess that the deep state has scheduled to start a war with Iran sometime between the mid February and mid March of 2021.

What's also quite remarkable is that, after all the evidence, many people insist to support Trump because they still believe that he tries to avoid war. They can't realize that re-elected or not, he is already responsible for any future major conflict with Iran, because as we saw, he has significantly contributed to bring us to this point of no-return. Trump already did an enormous damage.

Now, only the American people can stop this absolutely disastrous war. The voters have certainly quite restricted options, but we see that Sanders' popularity is rising fast. It's not enough. People must vote massively for him to the point that the establishment will be impossible to rig the Democratic primaries, or the final presidential battle.

But even if the miracle happens and Bernie becomes the next US president, it won't be enough. He will also receive an enormous pressure to lean towards the deep state agenda. This is why he has to fill his administration with as many strong progressives as possible. And he has to purge neocons and Israeli lobbyists from all the key positions through rapid and decisive moves. Progressives would then be able το form not a war, but an anti-war cabinet to save the US and the world from an unprecedented Armageddon.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

Israel & CIA Behind Iran Protests To Get U.S. To Attack!

The Jimmy Dore Show    As protests in Iran have heated up, western media has actively exaggerated and selectively framed the violence by using casualty figures from U.S.- and Israel-funded NGOs — all in order to build public support for another regime-change war. Former CIA officer John Kiriakou and guest Scott Ritter claim protests were infiltrated by foreign intelligence networks and that Israel and the U.S. are using “human rights” narratives similarly to the way they were used in Iraq and Syria.   Dore and Ritter contend that Iran’s government responded to armed unrest rather than peaceful protest, while mainstream outlets ignore attacks on police and public infrastructure. They warn that propaganda, sanctions, and media coordination are laying the groundwork for a wider U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran.

Billionaires are social distancing in super yachts as tens of millions lose jobs

Everyday, it becomes clearer: the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting poor, working, and marginalized communities the hardest. Millions of workers – especially low-wage retail, food service, hospitality, and care workers – have faced the terrible choice daily between going to work and risking their health, or staying home and risking their paychecks. Many other workers don’t even have that choice, with around 30 million people in the US filing for unemployment in the past six weeks. But billionaires don’t face these same problems. As tens of millions have lost their jobs over the past two months, billionaire wealth soared by a whopping $282 billion between March 18 and April 10, according to a new study from the Institute for Policy Studies.  And while finding enough space to wait out the pandemic is something many struggle with, billionaires have been escaping to their second (or third, or fourth) homes to ride it out in luxury – all while they position themselves to ...

The real reason Trump hesitates to strike Iran

globinfo freexchange   Recent statements by the Iranian leadership concerning the ability of Iran to hit US military bases, should not be taken lightly. It is not just the missile capability and - in some cases - even superiority of Iran in the broader region. That alone, would not be enough for Washington to take Tehran's threats seriously.    It has to do also with a strategic move by Iran in the geopolitical battlefield that changes the balance decisively in the war field too. As Pakistan Today reported back in July 2025:   In two recent wars that nearly tipped the world into a full-scale global conflict— one between Pakistan and India, and the other between Iran and Israel— a new determinant of military dominance emerged. In both cases, countries under pressure, Pakistan and Iran, not only stood their ground but struck deep into enemy territory with astonishing precision and devastating impact.  ... in a 12-day war with Israel, Iran destroyed numerous h...

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...
