Περνώντας από την «κόλαση» του ISIS

Το ταξίδι μιας οικογένειας Σύρων προς την Ευρώπη

«Είδαμε πράγματα που δεν τα χωρά ο ανθρώπινος νους. Άλλου τού έκοβαν το χέρι, άλλου το κεφάλι καταμεσής του δρόμου και κατέβαζαν τους άνδρες από τα λεωφορεία για να παρακολουθούν προς παραδειγματισμό. Όταν βγήκαμε από τις περιοχές που ελέγχει ο Daesh (ο ISIS) νιώθαμε σαν να ξαναγεννηθήκαμε». Ο 37χρονος Μουάγιαντ δεν θα ξεχάσει ποτέ τον εφιάλτη που έζησε στην αγωνιώδη προσπάθειά του να φτάσει, μαζί με την οικογένειά του, από την πόλη Νάουα της Συρίας (στην επαρχία Ντάραα, κοιτίδα της εξέγερσης εναντίον του Άσαντ) ως την Τουρκία και από εκεί στην Ελλάδα.

Δύο μήνες μετά την ημέρα εκείνη που κλείδωσε για τελευταία φορά την πόρτα του σπιτιού του και πήρε τον δρόμο της προσφυγιάς, ο Μουάγιαντ, από το κέντρο προσωρινής μετεγκατάστασης του Χέρσου, στο νομό Κιλκίς, αφηγείται στο ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ πώς πληρώνοντας τους διακινητές για κάθε του βήμα κατάφερε να περάσει τις ελεγχόμενες από τις δυνάμεις του Άσαντ περιοχές, την «κόλαση» του Ισλαμικού Κράτους και τα παγωμένα νερά του Αιγαίου για να «κολλήσει» τελικά λίγα χιλιόμετρα μακριά από την ουδέτερη ζώνη Ελλάδας-ΠΓΔΜ.

Ο Μουάγιαντ, η σύζυγός του Μπάραα, τα πέντε παιδιά τους, η μητέρα του Ουαρντίγια, τα αδέλφια του και οι οικογένειές τους (συνολικά 18 άτομα) εγκατέλειψαν την πόλη Νάουα στις 8 Ιανουαρίου μην μπορώντας, όπως λένε, να ζουν πλέον υπό τον φόβο των συνεχών βομβαρδισμών. «Στην πόλη μας, ο πόλεμος ήταν πολύ σκληρός. Επειδή ήμασταν οι πρώτοι που είπαμε "όχι", ο Πρόεδρος (Μπασάρ Άσαντ) μας μισεί. Μας βομβάρδιζαν συνέχεια οι δυνάμεις του. Έπεφταν βόμβες όλη μέρα και παντού» εξηγεί ο 37χρονος.

«Περάσαμε, μυστικά, από περιοχές που είναι από τον έλεγχο των κυβερνητικών δυνάμεων. Οι στρατιώτες μας κυνήγησαν με το αυτοκίνητο. Επί δύο ώρες ήταν από πίσω μας και μας καταδίωκαν. Ο οδηγός μας όμως ήταν πολύ έμπειρος και κατάφερε να τους ξεφύγει. Για να μπορέσουμε να διανύσουμε μια απόσταση 60 χλμ πληρώσαμε ο καθένας από 300 δολάρια» λέει ο Μουάγιαντ κι εξηγεί πως για να μπορέσει κάποιος να κινηθεί με ασφάλεια μέσα από τις εμπόλεμες ζώνες της Συρίας θα πρέπει να χρυσοπληρώσει το κάθε του βήμα...

Το χρήμα μπορεί να «αγοράζει» ασφάλεια αλλά δεν διώχνει και τον φόβο. Ιδίως δε, όταν στην κουβέντα μπαίνει το Ισλαμικό Κράτος. «Στη συνέχεια έπρεπε να περάσουμε από τις περιοχές που είναι υπό τον έλεγχο του Daesh. Επί 11 ημέρες κρυβόμασταν και μετακινούμασταν με αυτοκίνητα που μεταφέρουν ζώα. Φοβόμασταν συνεχώς. Δεν ξέρεις πότε θα βρεθείς με το όπλο στον κρόταφο. Ο ένας σκοτώνει τον άλλον. Η κατάσταση είναι τραγική» τονίζει ο 37χρονος.

Από τη Ράκα, ο Μουάγιαντ και η οικογένειά του έφτασαν στο Χαλέπι, κι από εκεί, για να διανύσουν μια απόσταση μόλις 11 χιλιομέτρων έπρεπε να πληρώσουν τους ανθρώπους του ISIS άλλα 350 ευρώ το «κεφάλι».

«Όλοι μας φοβόμασταν. Οι άνδρες του Ισλαμικού Κράτους είναι πολύ σκληροί και δεν δείχνουν κανένα έλεος. Εκεί, εκτός από τους βομβαρδισμούς των κυβερνητικών δυνάμεων, βομβάρδιζαν και οι ξένες δυνάμεις και έτσι είχαμε να αντιμετωπίσουμε πολλά μέτωπα, προσπαθώντας να μείνουμε ζωντανοί» προσθέτει.

Αφού κατάφεραν να περάσουν με ασφάλεια την «κόλαση» του Ισλαμικού Κράτους, ο Μουάγιαντ και η οικογένειά του βρέθηκαν στα σύνορα με την Τουρκία, όπου και πάλι έπρεπε να περιμένουν εννέα ημέρες προτού μπορέσουν να πατήσουν την τουρκική γη. «Όταν φτάσαμε στην Τουρκία μας έδωσαν ταυτότητα και πήγαμε με το λεωφορείο στη Σμύρνη. Εκεί περιμέναμε ώσπου οι συνθήκες στη θάλασσα να είναι οι κατάλληλες ώστε να περάσουμε απέναντι. Την πρώτη φορά που το επιχειρήσαμε, η μηχανή σταμάτησε ύστερα από λίγα μίλια. Άρχισε να μπαίνει νερό στη βάρκα και τότε κάλεσα την τουρκική ακτοφυλακή και ήρθαν και μας πήραν. Έμεινα συνολικά 23 μέρες στην Τουρκία προτού τελικά, τη δεύτερη φορά, καταφέραμε να περάσουμε στη Μυτιλήνη. Καταμεσής της θάλασσας μας εντόπισε η Frontex και μας οδήγησε ως το νησί».

Η αγριότητα του ISIS θα μείνει για πάντα χαραγμένη στο μυαλό του Μουάγιαντ, όπως και οι διακινητές που τους βρίσκεις, όπως λέει, παντού. «Οι διακινητές είναι παντού. Στη Σμύρνη είναι σε κάθε δρόμο και όταν σε βλέπουν, ξέρουν πως θέλεις να περάσεις απέναντι. Η "ταρίφα" τους ποικίλει, ενώ δεν λείπει και το ανατολίτικο παζάρι. Εγώ, την πρώτη φορά που θέλησα να περάσω στην Ελλάδα πλήρωσα 700 ευρώ για κάθε ένα μέλος της οικογένειάς μου».

Από τη Λέσβο, η οικογένεια του Μουάγιαντ πήγε με το πλοίο στην Καβάλα και από εκεί, ύστερα από δύο ημέρες παραμονής, στο κέντρο προσωρινής μετεγκατάστασης στο Χέρσο. Με την Ειδομένη να «βουλιάζει» από κόσμο και τη βαριά σιδερόφραχτη πύλη στην ουδέτερη ζώνη Ελλάδας-ΠΓΔΜ να παραμένει ερμητικά κλειστή τα τελευταία 24ωρα, ο Μουάγιαντ δεν κρύβει την αγωνία του για το μέλλον. «Δεν μπορούμε να μείνουμε πολύ καιρό εδώ. Δεν είναι καλή η κατάσταση. Τα χρήματά μας τελειώνουν και δεν υπάρχουν δουλειές. Τι θα κάνουμε;» αναρωτιέται.

Ο Μουάγιαντ, όπως και πολλοί άλλοι πρόσφυγες, θέλει να πάει στη Γερμανία, όπου βρίσκονται τρία από τα αδέλφια του· οι δύο μάλιστα από το 1995. Στη Συρία ήταν πυροσβέστης για 12 χρόνια και θα ήταν ευχής έργον, όπως λέει, να μπορέσει να συνεχίσει την ίδια δουλειά. «Αν όχι θα γίνω φούρναρης, μια δουλειά που ξέρω επίσης καλά» σημειώνει.

Η Γερμανία μπορεί να είναι όνειρο ζωής αυτή τη στιγμή για τον 37χρονο Σύρο, αλλά αν σταματήσει ο πόλεμος θέλει, όπως λέει, να γυρίσει στην πατρίδα του. «Θέλουμε να γυρίσουμε στη Συρία και να ζήσουμε όπως παλιά. Η ζωή εκεί ήταν πολύ όμορφη» αναπολεί, την ίδια ώρα που η ηλικιωμένη μητέρα του σιγοψιθυρίζει ένα παλιό αραβικό τραγούδι.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’
