An early February short report by Associated Press passed rather unnoticed. Yet, it could be probably considered the best proof for what this blog claims for many years now. In short, the Western economic model is about to be transformed into something even worse than capitalism, towards a kind of 21st century corporate feudalism. And the US state of Nevada is about to become the testing field for such a transition in the most official way! As the AP reported [emphasis added]:
Planned
legislation to establish new business areas in Nevada would allow
technology companies to effectively form separate local governments. Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak announced a plan to launch so-called Innovation Zones in Nevada to jumpstart the state’s economy by attracting technology firms, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Wednesday. The zones would permit companies with large areas of land to form governments carrying the same authority as counties, including the ability to impose taxes, form school districts and courts and provide government services. [...] The
Governor’s Office of Economic Development would oversee applications
for the zones, which would be limited to companies working in specific
business areas including blockchain, autonomous technology, the Internet
of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence, wireless, biometrics and
renewable resource technology. [...] The zones would have three-member supervisor boards with the same powers as county commissioners. The businesses would maintain significant control over board membership. |
It would be worth to mention that this "initiative" comes not from a Republican, but from a Democrat who is also a businessman. And it seems that under the hardcore neoliberal Biden administration, Sisolak won't find any significant barriers against his plan. This is also another loud example of how much the Democratic party has been taken over by the corporate oligarchy, just like the Republicans. And it has nothing to do with the interests of the majority of the American people.
In September, 2019, we identified Greece as the testing field of the corresponded European project. As we wrote back then, the result of the Greek national elections is about to give the opportunity to the neoliberal regime to extend the Greek experiment, in order to test some new conditions. These are primarily related to the so-called Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and the Brussels-Berlin axis has now the opportunity to test them for the first time in a country which belongs to the economic hard core of the EU (eurozone). Indeed, the German government is pushing for the creation of SEZs in Greece and other European countries with struggling economies.
SEZs have been implemented in developing countries, or former colonies of the third world. But now, as Greece has been transformed into a debt colony, it will be a great opportunity for the neoliberal regime to test SEZs in an allegedly developed country. And this would be much easier under current administration, which is fanatically devoted to the neoliberal doctrine.
It seems that the Nevada project is even more "ambitious" because it will give full governmental powers to corporations in areas that could instantly turn into modern corporate feuds!
Since already 2014 we had pointed out that, having secured the new labor force through fully automated machines, what has left for the dominant elite now, is to take all the resources. Big corporations are grabbing huge cultivable areas especially in the developing countries in order to control food production. Oil and natural gas fields in many areas of the planet are already controlled by big private corporations.
It's now clear where all these accumulated corporate profits - made upon the corpse of the working class - will be "invested". In the dawn of the third decade of 21st century, corporate beasts are ready to establish their modern feudalism.
So, you can now say goodbye not only to capitalism. You can say goodbye to what is left from Democracy, for good. Welcome to the 21st century corporate feudalism!
FRIGHTENINGLY POSSIBLE, AS GREED - WHETHER BY FEW OR MANY - KNOWS NO LIMITS UNTIL ITSTRANGLES LIFE OUT OF ITS SUBJECTS
ReplyDeleteI've been predicting this very thing for a few years now, it seems inevitable. Also, it seems silly to petition the US Government for better life outcomes since the corporations are running the show anyway... we really need to petition the corporations directly. Let them form governments, then we can be part of that system, hopefully.
