Golden Dawn neo-nazis: The militia arm of the systemic establishment!

New evidence of the connection between the neoliberal leading party and Golden Dawn in Greece

A provincial branch of the neonazi Golden Dawn party was bankrolled by a wealthy businessman who was a member of New Democracy and it enjoyed immunity from the police, a Golden Dawn defector has told a leading US human rights organisation. The unidentified man told Human Rights First that the businessman gave financial backing to Golden Dawn because he wanted it to do well in the 2012 elections so that New Democracy could end its uneasy coalition with socialist Pasok and team up with Golden Dawn instead.

'Golden Dawn is the militia arm of New Democracy,' the businessman told the defector, who will be a witness in the forthcoming criminal case against leading Golden Dawn figures, which is due to start in November. He said the businessman also spent more than $1,500 (€1,100) on military outfits for its cadres. The businessman also paid for their offices and gave them advice, including 'Don’t go and attack migrants in the middle of the day.'”

The defector also told Human Rights First that his Golden Dawn unit enjoyed immunity from the police. 'The police had specific orders not to touch us,' he said, adding that when four Golden Dawn members attacked two Pakistani migrants and beat them 'really, really badly', he received a phone call from the local police chief who had ties to the local Golden Dawn boss and told him the case would not be investigated. 'Once they realised they could operate with impunity, they turned to intimidation for profit, evicting recalcitrant tenants and collecting debts,' the report continues.”

His testimony is included in a major report (pdf), published on August 14 by Human Rights First, that details the rise and the threat posed by the “hate parties” of Golden Dawn in Greece and Jobbik in Hungary.”

Despite threats against him, the defector intends to testify that Golden Dawn was a 'criminal organization,' as the government charges. But he added that the government allowed Golden Dawn to grow for its own gain, and only decided to take legal action only when the organisation became too powerful.*

*Within less than a month, all settled as they wanted. They knew Golden Dawn, they expected such a murder. As long as GD was murdering immigrants and doing the "dirty work", was quite useful. Just after this political assassination of a Greek citizen, the "local representatives" found the excuse to cut the unacceptably high rates of GD and restore them to a more "manageable" level of about 7%.

Meanwhile, there is an increased activity of neo-nazis lately through assaults against migrants and organizations in Athens.

A 28-year old man from Iran was stabbed 12 times in Alexandras street - Athens by men with shaved heads, wearing black t-shirts, according to his statement.

"Three men of age 28-30 on a motorcycle approached me and asked me where I am from. I understood the question because the police stops me every day and asks the same thing. I said 'from Iran'. Then, two of them came to me and punched me. The other man was waiting on the motorcycle. One of them was sitting on my stomach and the other one was hitting me. One of them was tall and strong. Then, they started to stab me. They hit me hard and when I realized that they will kill me, I put my hands on my neck and my face. The one on the motorcycle was saying 'let's go, let's go'. It lasted about one minute. They were not thieves. They didn't take my money or my cell phone."

I tried very hard to reach a guard of the hospital Agios Savvas. I lost too much blood and I was very dizzy. After that, the police came and took my statement, then an ambulance came to take me to the Elpis hospital.”

Ashkan Najafi is 28 years old and lives in Greece for one and a half years. He described his desperate situation. He has a wife and kid in Iran, but he was forced to leave because his life was in danger:

I came here because I thought that there is democracy in Europe and human rights are respected, that I would have a more peaceful life. Now, every time the dark falls I'm scared. My situation is worse now here, how can I bring my family, how can I go back? I don't know what to do. If you were in my place what would you do? I left my country because my life was in danger, I came here and they stabbed me because I'm a migrant. Where should I go now? Where should I go to seek for asylum?”

Early this month, another migrant from Pakistan has been attacked by five men wearing black clothes putting his life in serious danger. They were beating him for 10 minutes with brass knuckles and left him in blood.

Last Friday, a team of Golden Dawn supporters attacked against the Open School for Migrants in Pireaus. The neo-nazis have caused damage to the school, wrote slogans on walls, and reportedly stole a computer from the school premises.

Capitalism & Genocide - Yanis Varoufakis Speech at the Gaza Tribunal, 23rd October 2025, Istanbul

Yanis Varoufakis   On 23rd October, Yanis Varoufakis testified in front of the Jury of Conscience in the context of the Gaza Tribunal. His speech focused on the economic forces underpinning the genocide of the Palestinian people. In particular, he spoke on the manner in which capitalist dynamics have historically fuelled the white settler colonial project and, more recently, how the accumulation of a new form of capital - which he calls cloud capital - has accelerated, deepened and amplified the economic forces powering and propelling the machinery of genocide.

Israel & CIA Behind Iran Protests To Get U.S. To Attack!

The Jimmy Dore Show    As protests in Iran have heated up, western media has actively exaggerated and selectively framed the violence by using casualty figures from U.S.- and Israel-funded NGOs — all in order to build public support for another regime-change war. Former CIA officer John Kiriakou and guest Scott Ritter claim protests were infiltrated by foreign intelligence networks and that Israel and the U.S. are using “human rights” narratives similarly to the way they were used in Iraq and Syria.   Dore and Ritter contend that Iran’s government responded to armed unrest rather than peaceful protest, while mainstream outlets ignore attacks on police and public infrastructure. They warn that propaganda, sanctions, and media coordination are laying the groundwork for a wider U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events. The following is a brief response to Ellsberg’s main points from someone who lives in Nicaragua and has observed the situation directly and intimately: https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/08/15/a-res...

Jeffrey Sachs: The US is a violent regime

CGTN   Shortly after US President Donald Trump announced on social media that American forces had carried out military actions against Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were forcibly taken to New York City to face US charges including narco-trafficking. Speaking with CGTN's Tian Wei, Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs warned that such actions reflect a broader pattern of militarized US foreign policy. By sidelining international law and disregarding the UN Charter, Washington is undermining the very framework meant to safeguard global peace and prevent another era of devastating wars.

The real reason Trump hesitates to strike Iran

globinfo freexchange   Recent statements by the Iranian leadership concerning the ability of Iran to hit US military bases, should not be taken lightly. It is not just the missile capability and - in some cases - even superiority of Iran in the broader region. That alone, would not be enough for Washington to take Tehran's threats seriously.    It has to do also with a strategic move by Iran in the geopolitical battlefield that changes the balance decisively in the war field too. As Pakistan Today reported back in July 2025:   In two recent wars that nearly tipped the world into a full-scale global conflict— one between Pakistan and India, and the other between Iran and Israel— a new determinant of military dominance emerged. In both cases, countries under pressure, Pakistan and Iran, not only stood their ground but struck deep into enemy territory with astonishing precision and devastating impact.  ... in a 12-day war with Israel, Iran destroyed numerous h...
