Αυτοί που θέλουν να μείνει η χώρα στο ευρώ πάση θυσία είναι οι πλέον εύποροι, αυτοί που έχουν πολλά λεφτά, τα έχουν επενδύσει με συγκεκριμένο τρόπο και δεν θα θελήσουν να δουν τη χώρα να αλλάζει πορεία με κανένα τρόπο. Σε τελική ανάλυση το θέμα του χρήματος είναι βαθύτατα κοινωνικό και βαθύτατα ταξικό. Όσοι δεν το καταλαβαίνουν, δεν καταλαβαίνουν τι συμβαίνει.


Έχει συμβεί ξανά και ξανά. Ωστόσο, το ΔΝΤ επιμένει στην ίδια συνταγή. Αυτό που αντιμετωπίζει η Ελλάδα θυμίζει πολύ την κατάσταση της Ρωσίας στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 90. Η μόνη διαφορά τώρα είναι ότι το ΔΝΤ έχει ένα ενοποιημένο νόμισμα, το ευρώ, ως άλλοθι και δύο "συνεταίρους" (Κομισιόν, Ευρωπαϊκή Κεντρική Τράπεζα) στους οποίους μπορεί να ρίξει το φταίξιμο για άλλη μια αποτυχία.

Το ΔΝΤ φοβόταν ότι μια υποτίμηση του ρουβλίου θα εκκινούσε έναν νέο γύρο πληθωρισμού. Η επιμονή του να διατηρήσει η Ρωσία ένα υπερτιμημένο νόμισμα και η υποστήριξή του με δισεκατομμύρια δολάρια σε δάνεια τελικά συνέθλιψε την οικονομία. (Όταν το ρούβλι τελικά υποτιμήθηκε το 1998, ο πληθωρισμός δεν εκτινάχθηκε όπως φοβόταν το ΔΝΤ και η οικονομία βίωσε την πρώτη σημαντική της ανάπτυξη.)

Για τους ολιγάρχες που προσπαθούσαν να βγάλουν τα λεφτά τους από τη χώρα, η υπερτιμημένη συναλλαγματική ισοτιμία ήταν πλεονέκτημα καθώς σήμαινε ότι μπορούσαν να πάρουν περισσότερα δολάρια με τα ρούβλια τους, καθώς έκρυβαν τα κέρδη τους σε ξένους τραπεζικούς λογαριασμούς.

Αυτό εξηγεί σε μεγάλο βαθμό την προπαγάνδα του φόβου που εξαπέλυσε το μιντιακό σύστημα πολύ πριν την ανάληψη της εξουσίας από ΣΥΡΙΖΑ-ΑΝΕΛ, σχετικά με την καταστροφή που θα επέλθει για την Ελλάδα σε περίπτωση Grexit. Η κοινή γνώμη έχει υποστεί πλύση εγκεφάλου (αν και αυτό μάλλον αρχίζει να αλλάζει), επειδή η επιστροφή στο εθνικό νόμισμα θα ήταν μια κομβική ήττα για την Ελληνική και τις Ευρωπαϊκές ελίτ, καθώς θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει αφετηρία για την πτώση της χρηματοπιστωτικής τους αυτοκρατορίας.
