Ποιος πραγματικά είναι ο ηγέτης της αντιπολίτευσης στη Βενεζουέλα

Ένα νέο ήρωα έχουν ανακαλύψει τα τελευταία χρόνια τα μέσα ενημέρωσης στις ΗΠΑ στο πρόσωπο του ηγέτη της αντιπολίτευσης στη Βενεζουέλα, Λεοπόλντο Λόπεζ.

Ενώ όμως τα διεθνή μέσα ενημέρωσης εστίασαν την προσοχή τους στο γεγονός ότι τέθηκε σε κατ’οίκον περιορισμό, κατηγορούμενος για την παρακίνηση βίαιων επεισοδίων στις πρόσφατες εκλογές που στοίχισαν τη ζωή τουλάχιστον δέκα ανθρώπων, ελάχιστοι ασχολήθηκαν με το παρελθόν του.

Γεννημένος στο εύπορο προάστιο Τσακάο του Καράκας – του οποίου αργότερα έγινε δήμαρχος – ο Λόπεζ είναι γόνος δυναστείας πολιτικών της Βενεζουέλας, η οποία φτάνει μέχρι τον πρώτο πρόεδρο της χώρας Κριστομπαλ Μεντόζα.

Ο ίδιος εξηγούσε σε δημοσιογράφους ότι ανήκει στο 1% των κατοίκων της χώρας που απέκτησαν υψηλή μόρφωση για να βοηθήσουν, όπως λέει, τη Βενεζουέλα.

Από το 1996- έως το 1999 ήταν σύμβουλος της εταιρείας πετρελαίου PDVSA από την οποία απομακρύνθηκε όταν κατηγορήθηκε ότι διασπάθιζε χρήματα με τα οποία χρηματοδοτούσε το πολιτικό του κόμμα Primero Justicia (η δικαιοσύνη πρώτα).

Το κόμμα του χρηματοδοτούνταν όμως και από το αμερικανικό NED, το Εθνικό Ταμείο για τη Δημοκρατία, το οποίο παλαιότερα χρηματοδοτούσε τον δικτάτορα του Παναμά Μανουέλ Νοριέγκα, δεξιούς υποψήφιους στη Βολιβία και αντικαθεστωτικές οργανώσεις στο Ιράν, την Κούβα, την Ουκρανία, τη Γεωργία, τη Σλοβακία, τη Σερβία, το Μαυροβούνιο, τη Βόρεια Κορέα και την Κίνα.

Η χρηματοδότηση του Λόπεζ από την Ουάσινγκτον εντάσσεται σε ένα ευρύτερο πρόγραμμα δεκάδων εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων που χρησιμοποιούσαν αμερικανικές υπηρεσίες για την ενίσχυση αντικυβερνητικών δυνάμεων και το οποίο ήρθε στο φως από απόρρητα τηλεγραφήματα της αμερικανικής πρεσβείας στο Καράκας.

Τον Απρίλιο του 2002, συναντάμε στον Λόπεζ ανάμεσα στους οργανωτές των βίαιων αντικυβερνητικών κινητοποιήσεων, που έδωσαν το πρόσχημα για την αποτυχημένη απόπειρα πραξικοπήματος εναντίον του δημοκρατικά εκλεγμένου προέδρου Ούγκο Τσάβες.

Στις ημέρες που ακολούθησαν, ο Λόπεζ συνεργάστηκε με αρκετούς από τους πραξικοπηματίες για τον εντοπισμό και τη σύλληψη υπουργών της κυβέρνησης Τσάβες ενώ κατηγορήθηκε και για την οργάνωση επιθέσεων που σημειώθηκαν εναντίον της πρεσβείας της Κούβας στο Καράκας.

Παρόλα αυτά ο Λόπεζ παρέμεινε ελεύθερος μετά το πραξικόπημα και τελικά δικάστηκε και καταδικάστηκε για σκάνδαλα διαφθοράς, που αφορούσαν και πάλι την χρηματοδότηση του κόμματός του αλλά και τη θητεία του ως δημάρχου.

Προς στιγμήν ο Λόπεζ φάνηκε να χάνει την αξία χρήσης του ακόμη και για τους υποστηρικτές του στην Ουάσινγκτον. Η αμερικανική πρεσβεία στο Καράκας, σε απόρρητα τηλεγραφήματά της, που κυκλοφόρησαν στο Wikileaks, τον αποκαλούσε «διασπαστική δύναμη» για την αντιπολίτευση ενώ τον χαρακτήριζε «υπερόπτη, εκδικητικό και διψασμένο για εξουσία».

Η σύζυγός του Λίλιαν Τιντόρι, η οποία έγινε γνωστή σαν παίκτρια του τηλεοπτικού παιχνιδιού Robinson: La Gran Aventura (το survivor της Βενεζουέλας) γυρίζει τον κόσμο προσκεκλημένη δεξιών πολιτικών κομμάτων – και πρόσφατα και του Ντόναλντ Τραμπ. Στις ομιλίες της παρουσιάζει τη Βενεζουέλα σαν ένα δικτατορικό καθεστώς. Στην Ελλάδα τις δράσεις της συνηθίζουν να προωθούν γνωστοί (για το μένος τους εναντίον της Βενεζουέλας) δημοσιογράφοι, όπως ο Ιάσονας Πιπίνης ενώ πληροφορίες ανέφεραν ότι κόμματα της αντιπολίτευσης σχεδίαζαν να την καλέσουν να μιλήσει στην Αθήνα..
