Jeremy Corbyn + Brexit = UK's liberation from the EU neoliberal barbarism

With Tories in power Brexit would be meaningless

globinfo freexchange

As has been mentioned in previous article, Brexit could play a much more critical role in the future course of Europe, apart from being treated just as a result of national pride - wounded Britons alarmed by the sirens of patriotism.

While the Brussels-Berlin axis will seek to implement all the conditions of the Greek experiment inside the EU, the Labour party under Jeremy Corbyn could become an example against this dark future. While the Greek PM, Alexis Tsipras, suffered a heavy defeat as went unprepared in the battle with the ruthless neoliberal priesthood, Corbyn should go to the battle with the neoliberal regime after a good preparation and a well-constructed plan.

Costas Lapavitsas explains why only outside the EU, the UK will have a chance to turn left - with a Labour government under the Corbyn leadership - in order to implement progressive policies for the benefit of the vast majority:

The European Union has become a hardened, entrenched set of institutions defending neoliberalism. In Europe these institutions centered on the single market and the single currency, the euro. Combined, together, they ensure that neoliberal policies dominate the European Union, individual countries, and the union as a whole.

On top of that, what you also have, is the prevalence of neoliberal ideology. Not just the institutions and mechanisms, but also ideology - the prevalence of this ideology, across the institutions. Particularly the main decision-making institutions, which together with the practice of these institutions ensure neoliberal dominance across the union.

It’s obvious that the notion that this structure could be mobilized in the interests of working people in Europe is absurd. There’s no other word to describe it.

Britain, in a sense, has always been semi-detached from the rest of the European Union. But even so, it demonstrates the ability of the European Union to impose restrictive measures on not just progressive government or left-wing government; on any government.

In the case of Britain, there is no Corbyn government - although I hope and wish that there will be one and soon if this country is to go anywhere, because it’s not going anywhere at all at the moment. Obviously, such a government will not be subject to the limitations and framework and institutions of the Monetary Union, because luckily for Britain, it is not a member of the Monetary Union. But it will still be constrained by the mechanisms, practices and regulations of the European Union.

The rules and regulations of the European Union on these things (state aid and public procurement), are very very restricted, thoroughly neoliberal, and would stop a radical Corbyn government from affecting the kind of changes it wishes to affect.

Some people hastily come out and say, ‘Oh, the European Union doesn’t stop us from doing anything.’ They are wrong, because any kind of radical change such as Britain needs and such as we would like to see - in terms of changing the social structure of this country and supporting the poor, the working class and so on - would require decisive measures of state aid and public procurement to support productive jobs. And that would be stopped by the European Union, no doubt as well of that.

The European Union, at the moment, represents the most blatant bypassing of democracy that we’ve seen in advanced, developed capitalist countries in decades. And it does that by using precisely those institutions that presumably the left will change. It bypasses democracy and it bypasses the democratic will, as that is expressed through elections, in the most rigid, thorough and systematic way. And it does that because the regulations of the institutions allow it to do so.

The same goes for parliament, and the same goes for all other decision-making institutions. Those who think that you can march through these institutions and effect change, either don’t understand how the institutions work, or they’re not honest to people when they tell them that they can change them. You can’t change them. You can only break those institutions, smash them. Rupturing those institutions is the answer if you want progressive, radical policies in Europe.

With Tories in power, even after a definite Brexit, we should not expect much of change for the British people. That's because the conservative right has been taken over completely by the neoliberal doctrine, already since the 70s and 80s in the motherlands of neoliberalism: the US and the UK. The Tories have nothing to offer apart from the typical neoliberal policies that the EU dictates to the member-states. That's all they know and they are 100% devoted to this political perception.

On the contrary, a Labour government under the Corbyn leadership after Brexit will be much more flexible to apply progressive policies that will benefit most of the Britons. Of course, with UK's power structure and the elites still in an advantageous position - after decades of policies that limited the power of state institutions - it will not be a piece of cake. Yet, without the additional tight scrutiny of the EU neoliberal monster, it will be much easier.

The Thatcherian plague that began to infect Europe forty years ago, could be defeated in the place where it was started. And then, the Leftist 'cure' against neoliberalism could spread throughout Europe.

Trump's tariffs: A unique opportunity for BRICS and the Global South to fully escape from dollar tyranny

globinfo freexchange   Does Trump know what he is doing? Well, yes and no. While many interpretate his latest move, mostly as an attempt to halt China, his main goal is to give the final blow to the neoliberal order on behalf of his oligarchs .  From this perspective, Trump's unprecedented decision to decide mass tariffs against almost everyone, was an act of strategic hit against the global free market neoliberalism, with the financial capital  at its top. And that's because this dominant-for-almost-half-century system, identifies restrictions and protectionism as major threats against its own existence. In other words, Trump acted as a commander of the capitalist faction that wants to beat its neoliberal rivals and put itself in charge, through a new transformation of capitalism into a 21st century corporate feudalism.   Concerning China, Trump's move may have some negative impact on its economy for a while, since China has chosen to partially play by the rule...

Deranged euroclowns want to revive a nazi-origin project!

globinfo freexchange   Behind the ridiculously cartoonish latest spot of the EU that gives "instructions" to the European citizens on how to deal with a major crisis during the first hours, lies a secret desire.    The deranged euroclowns of the crypto-fascist extreme center , are trying to build up a condition of consent inside the minds of Europeans, which is related to their biggest wet dream: an autonomous imperialist European army. The idea was not born suddenly because of Trump's hostile attitude against his own allies. From the early 50s, pan-European networks of neo-Nazis were created. In May 1951, the European Social Movement (MSE) was founded in Malmö, Sweden. Essentially, it was about projecting the ideology of the German SRP on a pan-European level. The MSE, which would remain active until the 1980s, proclaimed the need for Europe to emancipate itself from the divisive tutelage of the USA and the USSR, called for the defense of the “European race” against th...

Netanyahu BRAGS About Genocide - And Our Media COVERS IT UP

by Nate Bear   Part 3 - Cruel Britannia   The UK is moving ahead with large welfare cuts for disabled people, including those with cancer. On TV the other day, the UK’s health secretary Wes Streeting said that people with cancer should be in work, not at home resting. Alongside this, the government has said that to cut youth employment it will push young people to join the army. This, of course, is in the context of a massive expenditure on military weapons in the face of the Russian bogeyman.   What’s happening in the UK under a nominally centre-left Labour government is a good reminder that there is never a lesser evil if your leaders are neoliberals. Balancing the books on the backs of the poorest and most vulnerable in society is the north star of all neoliberals, whether they call themselves centrists, left wing or right wing. Cruelty is the policy and the point.    Yet the last few years have also been a good reminder that everything is a choice. Cov...

UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese: World is watching a live genocide in Gaza and doing nothing

The New Arab   As Israel’s war on Gaza enters its 19th month, UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese is sounding the alarm louder than ever: the world is watching a live genocide — and doing nothing to stop it. In an exclusive interview with The New Arab , Albanese describes the devastation in Gaza as unparalleled since WWII. Entire neighbourhoods lie in ruins, tens of thousands are dead, and 91% of Gaza’s population is at risk of malnutrition. Over 60,000 children show signs of cognitive impairment due to starvation.  “This is not just war. This is genocide in real time,” she says. “What we are seeing now is the destruction of a people who refuse to leave.” Despite UN mandates and international law, Albanese says the global system is paralysed, and governments, corporations, and even universities are complicit. “If Palestine were a crime scene, it would bear all our fingerprints.”

US Official EXPOSES Truth About Gaza From The Inside

Google Imports Ex Israeli Spies, The Genocide Resumes, Cruel Britannia

by Nate Bear   Part 2 - The genocide resumes   The day before the Wiz deal, Israel resumed its genocide of Gaza with an unhinged bloodthirsty rampage, the deadliest twenty-four hours in the last nearly eighteen months of genocide. A high bar had been set, and it was cleared. They attacked at night, itself an act of utter cowardice and sadism, and slaughtered hundreds as they slept in tents. In tents. Close to one hundred babies and young children were killed. The overall death toll exceeds 400 and is rising. As expected, there is not a flicker of condemnation from world leaders, many of whom are arming Israel with the weapons and intelligence it needs for genocide. The British air force spent the ceasefire period gathering intelligence on Palestinians and feeding it to Israel so they could restart the mass murder efficiently.  The genocide is the end of the west. It destroys any claim to moral superiority over Russia, China, Iran or any of the officially designated bad g...
