Evo Morales: Latin America is no longer a Yankee colony

Morales explained that sanctioning the authorities that administered democratic elections contradicts the will of the Venezuelan people.

On Saturday, Bolivian President Evo Morales blasted the latest penalties imposed by the United States on Venezuela as being an attempt to undermine Latin American.

The head of state explained that sanctioning the authorities that administered democratic elections contradicts the will of the Venezuelan people.

“Latin America is no longer a Yankee colony,” he declared, adding that the move demonstrates the futility of failed interventionist attempts against his ally state.

The unilateral sanctions, Morales stated, are a consequential offense levied against the people of Venezuela.

"The U.S. violates the human, political and economic rights of Venezuelan brothers and imposes arbitrary and unilateral sanctions because the right was decisively defeated in the October elections, an aggression against Venezuela, democracy and Latin America," said the post on the Bolivian leader's Twitter account.

He warned that the United States' action is an attempt against democracy.

Last Thursday, the U.S. government introduced new sanctions against 10 Venezuelan executive officials, including ministers and members of the National Electoral Council (CNE).
