Luego de presidir el golpe en Bolivia, los Estados Unidos declararon a Nicaragua como una “amenaza a la seguridad nacional” anunciando nuevas sanciones, al mismo tiempo que Trump designó a los carteles del narcotráfico en México como “terroristas” sin descartar una intervención militar.

Parte 2 - La administración Trump declara a Nicaragua una “amenaza a su seguridad nacional”

Un día después del golpe en Bolivia, la Casa Blanca publicó un comunicado aplaudiendo el putsch militar y dejando claro cuáles son los dos países que vienen a continuación en la lista de objetivos de Washington: “Estos eventos envían una fuerte señal a los regímenes ilegítimos de Venezuela y Nicaragua”, declaró Trump.

El 25 de noviembre, la Casa Blanca de Trump, de forma discreta publicó un comunicado caracterizando a Nicaragua como “una amenaza inusual y extraordinaria a la seguridad nacional y la política exterior de los Estados Unidos”.

Esto prolonga un año más la orden ejecutiva firmada por Trump en 2018 declarando “estado de emergencia nacional” al país centroamericano.

La declaración de Trump de 2018 vino luego de un fallido y violento intento de golpe en Nicaragua. El gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha financiado y apoyado a muchos de los grupos de oposición que buscaron derrocar a Daniel Ortega, el presidente electo de Nicaragua, y los aupó mientras buscaban tumbarlo.

Luego de la designación de amenaza a la seguridad nacional de 2018, a continuación, y rápidamente, siguió la guerra económica. En diciembre de ese año el congreso estadounidense aprobó la Ley NICA (NICA Act) sin ningún tipo de oposición. Esta legislación le otorgó a Trump la autoridad para imponer sanciones a Nicaragua, prohibiendo a las instituciones financieras internacionales hacer negocios con Managua.

El nuevo comunicado de Trump lanza propaganda estrafalaria contra Nicaragua, refiriéndose a su gobierno electo -que por décadas ha sido objeto de ataques de Washington- como un supuesto “régimen” violento y corrupto.

Esta orden ejecutiva es similar a la que firmó el para entonces presidente Barack Obama en 2015, que también designó a Venezuela como una amenaza a la seguridad nacional de los Estados Unidos.

Ambas órdenes fueron empleadas para justificar la imposición unilateral de sanciones económicas asfixiantes. Y la renovación de la orden prepara el camino para una escalada en el ataque económico contra Nicaragua.

Los medios corporativos en inglés le dieron una cobertura escasa a esta extensión, pero los medios de derecha en español en Latinoamérica la amplificaron pesadamente.

Y los activistas opositores aúpan con alegría la intensificación de la guerra híbrida de Washington contra Managua.
