Οι ΗΠΑ έκαναν προπαγάνδα στη Μέση Ανατολή με ψεύτικα βίντεο για την Αλ Κάιντα

Περισσότερα από μισό εκατομμύρια δολάρια πλήρωσε το Πεντάγωνο στην αμφιλεγόμενη βρετανική εταιρεία δημοσίων σχέσεων Bell Pottinger προκειμένου να τρέξει ένα απόρρητο πρόγραμμα προπαγάνδας στη Μέση Ανατολή.

Την αποκάλυψη έκανε πρώην υπάλληλος της βρετανικής εταιρείας, ο Μάρτιν Ουελς, στο Γραφείο Ερευνητικής Δημοσιογραφίας, λέγοντας ότι η αποστολή που τους είχε ανατεθεί ήταν το να κατασκευάζουν οπτικοακουστικό υλικό με σκοπό κυρίως να δημιουργηθεί στη Μέση Ανατολή μία αρνητική εικόνα για την Αλ Κάιντα.

Τα βίντεο της Bell Pottinger είχαν το στυλ αραβικών δελτίων ειδήσεων, ενώ κατασκεύαζε επίσης και βίντεο που έδειχναν επιθέσεις μαχητών της Αλ Κάιντα. Σκοπός αυτών των βίντεο ήταν στη συνέχεια να καταγραφούν τα ίχνη όσων τα παρακολουθούσαν.

Σε έναν χώρο υψίστης ασφαλείας στη Βαγδάτη, οι υπάλληλοι της εταιρείας εργάζονταν πυρετωδώς για τη δημιουργία του προπαγανδιστικού υλικού κι έδιναν αναφορά στο Πεντάγωνο, στη CIA και στο Εθνικό Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας των ΗΠΑ.

Ο πρώην μοντέρ της Bell Pottinger, Μάρτιν Ουελς, μίλησε για τις «ψυχολογικές επιχειρήσεις» - όπως τις ονόμαζαν - που διεξήγαγαν με εντολές των ΗΠΑ στο Ιράκ και τη δική του ανάμειξη σε αυτή την ιστορία.

«Όταν άρχισαν να εργάζομαι στο συγκεκριμένο πρόγραμμα, δεν γνώριζα πόσο μεγάλο ήταν. Αρχικά υπέθεσα ότι θα καλύπταμε την ειδησεογραφία. Ότι θα επεξεργαζόμασταν τις ειδήσεις που θα έπαιζαν στα διάφορα τοπικά μέσα», είπε. Όπως εξήγησε τα βίντεο που πέρασαν από τα χέρια του ήταν συνήθως ιστορίες για βομβιστικές επιθέσεις κι επιδρομές. «Είχαμε συνεργεία που βιντεοσκοπούσαν τα γεγονότα, έφερναν το υλικό κι εμείς το μοντάραμε ώστε να μοιάζει σαν θέμα από ένα δελτίο ειδήσεων κάποιου αραβικού δικτύου», σημείωσε.

Πέραν των ειδησεογραφικών αποσπασμάτων η εταιρεία κατασκεύαζε επίσης προπαγανδιστικά βίντεο με μηνύματα κατά της Αλ - Κάιντα αλλά και υπέρ της, με σκοπό οι μυστικές υπηρεσίες να αποκτούν στοιχεία μέσω των Google Analytics για το ποιος τα παρακολουθεί.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
