Μοσάντ Α.Ε.

Σε μια από τις σκηνές της ταινίας «Ολοι οι άνθρωποι του προέδρου», για το σκάνδαλο Γουότεργκεϊτ, ο Ρόμπερτ Ρέντφορντ μπαίνει ανήσυχος στο διαμέρισμα του Ντάστιν Χόφμαν και βάζει να παίζει δυνατά μουσική στο κασετόφωνο. Γνωρίζοντας ότι οι κινήσεις τους παρακολουθούνται, γράφει σε μια γραφομηχανή όσα θέλει να πει: «Το Βαθύ Λαρύγγι πιστεύει ότι η ζωή μας βρίσκεται σε κίνδυνο – ΠΑΡΑΚΟΛΟΥΘΗΣΕΙΣ – ΚΟΡΙΟΙ».

Πριν από μερικούς μήνες, η Αν Νόρις, πρώην αξιωματούχος του Στέιτ Ντιπάρτμεντ, πρέπει να αισθάνθηκε ότι πρωταγωνιστούσε και η ίδια στην ταινία όταν έλαβε ένα περίεργο e-mail. Η εταιρεία παραγωγής, Shell Productions, ζητούσε τη βοήθειά της για τη συγγραφή του σεναρίου μιας ταινίας σχετικά με τον Λευκό Οίκο. «Θα είναι» της έγραφαν στο e-mail «κάτι ανάμεσα στο “Ολοι οι άνθρωποι του προέδρου” και το σίριαλ West Wing».

H Shell Productions δεν υπήρξε ποτέ. Ηταν μια εταιρεία-βιτρίνα της Black Cube – της ιδιωτικής εταιρείας πληροφοριών που στελεχώνεται από πρώην πράκτορες της Μοσάντ και άλλων μυστικών υπηρεσιών του Ισραήλ.

Στόχος τους ήταν να συλλέξουν πληροφορίες για την προσωπική ζωή του συζύγου της Νόρις, Μπεν Ρόουντς, ο οποίος ήταν πρώην σύμβουλος του Μπαράκ Ομπάμα και άνθρωπος-κλειδί στη συμφωνία για το πυρηνικό πρόγραμμα του Ιράν.

Ο βρετανικός Observer, που αποκάλυψε την υπόθεση, υποστηρίζει ότι την Black Cube προσέλαβε ο ίδιος ο Τραμπ, για να ρίξει λάσπη στους πρωταγωνιστές της συμφωνίας και έτσι να δικαιολογήσει την αποχώρηση των ΗΠΑ.

Η Black Cube είχε έρθει για πρώτη φορά στο φως της διεθνούς δημοσιότητας όταν την προσέλαβε ο παραγωγός του Χόλιγουντ, Χάρβεϊ Γουάινστιν, προκειμένου να διαβάλλει γυναίκες που τον κατηγορούσαν για βιασμούς αλλά και δημοσιογράφους που κάλυπταν την υπόθεση. Ο ίδιος μάλιστα αποκάλυψε ότι ο άνθρωπος που τον έφερε σε επαφή με την Black Cube ήταν ο πρώην πρωθυπουργός του Ισραήλ, Εχούντ Μπάρακ.

Σήμερα η εταιρεία αποτελεί έναν κολοσσό που δραστηριοποιείται σε 60 χώρες και διαθέτει γραφεία σε ορισμένες από τις μεγαλύτερες πρωτεύουσες του πλανήτη. Θεωρείται κυρίαρχος σε μια αγορά τουλάχιστον δέκα δισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων, που ισορροπεί ανάμεσα στις υπηρεσίες του κράτους (ή/και του παρακράτους) και στον ιδιωτικό τομέα.

Οπως αποκάλυψαν στελέχη της Black Cube στην ισραηλινή έκδοση Forbes, oι πράκτορές της μετέρχονται όλων των μέσων για να συγκεντρώσουν τις πληροφορίες που ζητούν οι πελάτες τους:

Σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις χρειάζεται να δημιουργήσουν περίπλοκα δίκτυα με εταιρείες-βιτρίνες. Σε άλλες αρκεί να ρίξουν έναν πράκτορα του αντίθετου φύλου δίπλα στο θύμα τους για να εκμαιεύσει τις πληροφορίες – μια παλιά τεχνική την οποία είχε χρησιμοποιήσει η Μοσάντ και εναντίων του Μορντεχάι Βανούνου, που αποκάλυψε το μυστικό πυρηνικό πρόγραμμα του Ισραήλ.

Το βασικό πλεονέκτημα της εταιρείας, όπως συμβαίνει και με τις εταιρείες μισθοφόρων σαν την Blackwaters, είναι ότι επιτρέπει ακόμη και σε κυβερνήσεις να πραγματοποιούν βρόμικες αποστολές χωρίς να υπόκεινται στις συνέπειες του διεθνούς δικαίου. Τα στελέχη της εταιρείας βέβαια υποστηρίζουν ότι όλες οι ενέργειές τους είναι νόμιμες, καθώς τα στοιχεία που συλλέγουν θα πρέπει συχνά να παρουσιαστούν ενώπιον δικαστηρίων. Η λέξη-κλειδί όμως είναι το «συχνά». Δηλαδή, όχι πάντα.

Πριν από μερικά χρόνια δυο πράκτορες της Black Cube συνελήφθησαν στη Ρουμανία. Στο δωμάτιο του ξενοδοχείου τους βρέθηκαν συστήματα παρακολούθησης, φωτογραφικό υλικό και συσκευές για τον έλεγχο DNA.

Σύμφωνα με τοπικά μέσα ενημέρωσης, στόχος της επιχείρησης ήταν η επικεφαλής της Διεύθυνσης για την Καταπολέμηση της Διαφθοράς, Λάουρα Κοντρούτα Κοβέσι, η οποία σύμφωνα με την εφημερίδα Guardian «είχε πάρει το σκαλπ» αρκετών διεφθαρμένων πολιτικών που κατηγορούνταν για χρηματισμό.

Παρά το γεγονός ότι οι πράκτορες της Black Cube αντιμετώπιζαν σοβαρές κατηγορίες, μεταξύ των οποίων και κυβερνοεπιθέσεις εναντίον της Κοβέσι και συγγενών της, οι ρουμανικές αρχές τους επέβαλαν μια εξαιρετικά μικρή ποινή. Λίγο αργότερα ήταν ελεύθεροι να επιστρέψουν στην πατρίδα τους.

Παρ’ όλα αυτά η Black Cube καταφέρνει συνήθως να περνά απαρατήρητη κάτω από τα ραντάρ των διωκτικών αρχών και να φέρνει εις πέρας αποστολές που μπορεί να αλλάξουν την τύχη ολόκληρων χωρών.

Το 2011, ένα χρόνο μετά την ίδρυσή της, η εταιρεία βοήθησε τον βαρόνο του βρετανικού real estate Βίνσεντ Τσένγκιζ να απαλλαγεί από τις κατηγορίες ότι βρισκόταν πίσω από την κατάρρευση της τράπεζας Kaupthing, η οποία συμπαρέσυρε το σύνολο της ισλανδικής οικονομίας το 2008.

Τα στοιχεία που συνέλεξε η Black Cube για όσους τον κατηγορούσαν, επέτρεψαν στον Τσένγκιζ όχι μόνο να βγει από τη φυλακή, αλλά και να μηνύσει τη βρετανική υπηρεσία διαφθοράς, που είχε διατάξει τη σύλληψή του, για σχεδόν μισό δισεκατομμύριο δολάρια.

H Black Cube θεωρείται ότι εκπροσωπεί ήδη το «μέλλον» στον χώρο των εταιρειών πληροφορικών που εξαπλώνεται σε όλο τον κόσμο. Ενα μέλλον εξίσου σκοτεινό με τον χώρο των μυστικών υπηρεσιών αλλά πολύ πιο… ιδιωτικό.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
