Οι Βρετανοί προτιμούν Brexit χωρίς συμφωνία παρά παραμονή στην Ε.Ε.

Νέα δημοσκόπηση, που δημοσιεύει το Metro.co.uk, δείχνει ότι οι περισσότεροι Βρετανοί θα προτιμούσαν ένα no-deal Brexit παρά την παραμονή της χώρας στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

Η δημοσκόπηση της YouGov δείχνει ότι σε όλες τις άλλες περιοχές εκτός του Λονδίνου οι πολίτες θα προτιμούσαν ένα «σκληρό» Brexit, αν έπρεπε να επιλέξουν ανάμεσα σε αυτό και την παραμονή της χώρας τους στην Ε.Ε.

Οι περισσότερο θερμοί υποστηρικτές του σεναρίου εξόδου από την Ε.Ε. χωρίς συμφωνία ήταν οι κάτοικοι των Μίντλαντς, με ένα ποσοστό 49%. Αντίθετα το 38% προτίμησε την επιλογή της παραμονής. Επίσης οι κάτοικοι του νότιου τμήματος της χώρας, με εξαίρεση το Λονδίνο, θεωρούν την έξοδο χωρίς συμφωνία καλύτερη λύση, ανάμεσα στα δύο δεινά, με το 50% αυτών να επιλέγει ένα «σκληρό» Brexit. Στον αντίποδα, το 40% των κατοίκων επέλεξε την εναλλακτική της παραμονής. Η δημοσκόπηση στο βόρειο τμήμα της χώρας έφερε πιο μοιρασμένα αποτελέσματα με ένα ποσοστό 45% επί του συνόλου να επιλέγουν το no-deal Brexit. Μόλις 5% λιγότερο των κατοίκων του βόρειου τμήματος της χώρας προτίμησαν την επιλογή της παραμονής.

Οι μόνοι που δείχνουν να πιστεύουν ότι η παραμονή θα είναι η πιο ωφέλιμη επιλογή για τη χώρα είναι οι κάτοικοι του Λονδίνου, με 54% να τάσσεται υπέρ. Την επιλογή του Brexit χωρίς συμφωνία έκανε μόλις το 30%.

Εν τω μεταξύ, η πρωθυπουργός συναντήθηκε με τον ηγέτη των Εργατικών Τζέρεμι Κόρμπιν σε μια προσπάθεια συμβιβασμού, προκειμένου να περάσει από το κοινοβούλιο μία συμφωνία. Η πρωθυπουργός δήλωσε ότι «η χώρα χρειάζεται μια λύση, η χώρα αξίζει μια λύση και πάνω σε αυτό εργαζόμαστε».

Μέχρι στιγμής η Τερέζα Μέι έχει αποτύχει τρεις φορές να ψηφιστεί η απόφαση από το Βρετανικό Κοινοβούλιο και τώρα ζητά μια νέα προθεσμία, μέχρι τις 22 Μαΐου, για να προσπαθήσει να περάσει άλλη συμφωνία.

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on. Her piece is an incomplete depiction of what is happening on the ground, ignoring many salient facts that have come to light and which have been outdated by recent events.
