Το κίνημα Slow News: η απάντηση στα Fake News?

Στον θαυμαστό καινούργιο κόσμο, ο αβάσταχτος όγκος πληροφοριών που καταναλώνουμε καθημερινά έχει γεννήσει ένα δυστοπικό παράδοξο: την ίδια στιγμή, αμφισβητούμε και πιστεύουμε τα πάντα. Το μυαλό μας έχει βυθιστεί σε μια δίνη από tweets, αναρτήσεις, βίντεο, hoaxes και fake news.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια, σε διάφορα μέρη του πλανήτη, νησίδες αντίστασης έρχονται στην επιφάνεια. Ολιγομελείς ομάδες ανεξάρτητων δημοσιογράφων αγωνίζονται να οικοδομήσουν ένα εναλλακτικό μοντέλο πληροφόρησης, το οποίο βασίζεται σε μια εξαιρετικά απλή αρχή: πρέπει να κόψουμε ταχύτητα. Ένα μαχητικό ντοκιμαντέρ που έχει βαλθεί να αποδείξει ότι η δημοσιογραφία παραμένει ο βασικός πυλώνας της δημοκρατίας.

Το ενδιαφέρον αυτό ντοκιμαντέρ του Alberto Puliafito, ερευνά ένα νέο είδος δημοσιογραφίας που γεννήθηκε από την ανάγκη για δημοσιογραφική αυθεντικότητα μέσα στο σημερινό, χαοτικό μιντιακό τοπίο.

Σε ένα σύστημα που χαρακτηρίζεται από μια αδιάκοπη και ανελέητη πάλη ανταγωνισμού σε κάθε πτυχή της καθημερινής ζωής, η δημοσιογραφία έχει μοιραία παρακμάσει, καταντώντας πολλές φορές να μην είναι τίποτε άλλο, παρά μια κούρσα ιστοσελίδων για περισσότερα διαδικτυακά "κλικ". Η ιστορία δείχνει ότι η ποιότητα της δημοσιογραφίας στις μέρες μας έχει υποχωρήσει έναντι της ποσότητας της πληροφορίας, που είναι απαραίτητη για την επίτευξη περισσότερων θεάσεων (views) από τα ηλεκτρονικά μέσα ενημέρωσης.

Ο Craig Silverman από το BuzzFeed news, παραδέχεται ότι τα μεγαλύτερα μέσα ενημέρωσης είναι υπεύθυνα ως ένα βαθμό για το γεγονός ότι οι άνθρωποι έχουν χάσει την εμπιστοσύνη τους σε αυτά. Δηλαδή, δεν είναι απλά η τεχνολογία, τα social media, ή ο Τραμπ που συνέβαλαν σ'αυτή την εξέλιξη, όπως υποστηρίζουν αρκετές γνωστές προσωπικότητες στα συστημικά ΜΜΕ.

Και εδώ θα πρέπει να προσθέσουμε ότι, στην ουσία, ο Τραμπ και άλλοι ακροδεξιοί δημαγωγοί, απλώς εκμεταλλεύτηκαν και κεφαλαιοποίησαν αυτή την κορύφωση της δυσπιστίας του κοινού απέναντι στα συστημικά ΜΜΕ.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ παρουσιάζει την ιδέα του κινήματος Slow News κατ'αντιστοιχία με το κίνημα Slow Food που δημιουργήθηκε ως απάντηση στην κουλτούρα του γρήγορου και χαμηλής ποιότητας φαγητού (fast food). Ο Peter Laufer, πρωτοπόρος του κινήματος Slow News, εξηγεί αυτή την ιδέα.

Ο σκηνοθέτης συναντάει επίσης κάποιους ανθρώπους από ανεξάρτητα μέσα ενημέρωσης που έχουν υιοθετήσει τη συγκεκριμένη φιλοσοφία. Μάλιστα, κάποια από αυτά τα μέσα έχουν εγκαταλείψει την ηλεκτρονική μορφή και έχουν επιστρέψει στην παραδοσιακή έντυπη μορφή. Και όλα αυτά τα μέσα προσπαθούν να χτίσουν μια σχέση αμοιβαίας εμπιστοσύνης με τους αναγνώστες τους, επενδύοντας στην ποιότητα του περιεχομένου τους και όχι στην ποσότητα.

Όλο και περισσότεροι άνθρωποι δηλώνουν αηδιασμένοι από την προπαγάνδα και τα fake news. Γι'αυτό, ίσως οι μελλοντικοί πρωτοπόροι της δημοσιογραφίας να είναι αυτοί που θα επενδύσουν σοβαρά στην ανεκτίμητη αξία της αλήθειας.
