Ζουν και βασιλεύουν οι «πειρατές των αγορών»

Θράσος, αλαζονεία, απληστία. Ισως αυτές οι τρεις «αρετές» των κορυφαίων αστέρων του χρηματοπιστωτικού συστήματος ήταν εκείνες που οδήγησαν στις ακρότητες και στην καταστροφή του 2008, τις οποίες συνεχίζουμε να πληρώνουμε και σήμερα.

Αυτοί οι κορυφαίοι έμειναν ατιμώρητοι όχι λόγω κάποιας αβλεψίας, αλλά μιας συνειδητής επιλογής που έκαναν οι κυβερνήσεις, αναγνωρίζοντας μ’ αυτόν τον τρόπο την αδυναμία τους να συγκρουστούν και, πολύ περισσότερο, να επιβληθούν σ’ ένα σύστημα που έγινε σταδιακά τις τελευταίες τρεις δεκαετίες απολύτως ανεξέλεγκτο, θέτοντας σε κίνδυνο την ίδια τη δημοκρατία.

Οι μεγαλοαπατεώνες της Γουόλ Στριτ συνεχίζουν την αρπακτική τους δράση από άλλα μετερίζια, έχοντας δημιουργήσει και διευθύνοντας νέες εταιρείες με άλλα ονόματα. Παράλληλα κάποιοι από τους συνεργάτες τους στο πολιτικό σύστημα, αφού έκαναν τη βρομοδουλειά αποχώρησαν, ενώ πολλοί απ’ αυτούς συνεχίζουν με το ίδιο θράσος, την ίδια αλαζονεία και την ίδια απληστία το καταστροφικό τους έργο.

Μερικοί που πέρασαν στην εφεδρεία: Μάριο Μόντι (πρώην πρωθυπουργός της Ιταλίας), Ρομάνο Πρόντι (πρώην πρόεδρος της Κομισιόν), Λουκάς Παπαδήμος (πρώην πρωθυπουργός της Ελλάδας), λόρδος Μάντελσον (πρώην επίτροπος Εμπορίου της Ε.Ε.), Αντόνιο Μπόρχες (πρώην διευθυντής για την Ευρώπη του ΔΝΤ), Πίτερ Σάδερλαντ (πρώην επίτροπος για τον Ανταγωνισμό), Οτμαρ Ισινγκ (πρώην επικεφαλής οικονομολόγος της ΕΚΤ), Ρόμπερτ Ρούμπιν (πρώην υπουργός Οικονομικών της κυβέρνησης Κλίντον ), Χένρι Πόλσον (πρώην υπουργός Οικονομικών του Τζορτζ Μπους).

Τι κοινό τούς συνδέει; Ως γνωστόν υπήρξαν όλοι τους υπάλληλοι της διαβόητης (πειρατικής) Goldman Sachs, η οποία φέρει τεράστιες ευθύνες για την κρίση των subprimes που ξέσπασε το 2008 και οδήγησε στη σημερινή κατάσταση.

Πολλοί άλλοι όμως συνεχίζουν και σήμερα την πολιτική τους καριέρα κουνώντας το δάχτυλο στους λαούς, στους οποίους επιβάλλουν προγράμματα καταστροφικής λιτότητας, προκειμένου να τους αναγκάσουν να πληρώσουν κι άλλο για τις αλητείες των «ευαγών» χρηματοπιστωτικών ιδρυμάτων.

Για παράδειγμα, ο «φιλέλληνας» Ζαν-Κλοντ Γιούνκερ, ο οποίος κατά τη διάρκεια της πολυετούς του διακυβέρνησης στο Λουξεμβούργο μετέτρεψε τη χώρα του σε έναν από τους διασημότερους φορολογικούς παραδείσους, όπως έδειξαν πρόσφατα τα Luxleaks.

Αλλος; Ο γνωστός «σούπερ Μάριο», κατά κόσμον Μάριο Ντράγκι, πρόεδρος της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας, πρώην στέλεχος και αυτός της Goldman Sachs και μάλιστα με ευρωπαϊκή δράση κατά την περίοδο που ο αμερικανικός κολοσσός αλλοίωνε τα ελληνικά στατιστικά στοιχεία, προκειμένου η Ελλάδα να μπει στο ευρώ, κερδίζοντας η εταιρεία απ’ αυτή τη συμφωνία το «λογικό» ποσό των 600 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ, όπως αποκαλύπτει ο δημοσιογράφος Μαρκ Ρος.

Το αμαρτωλό παρελθόν

Μαζί του και η Κριστίν Λαγκάρντ, η οποία στο παρελθόν διηύθυνε το νομικό γραφείο Baker & Mckenzie, έναν οίκο που πρόσφερε ακριβοπληρωμένες υπηρεσίες για να αθωώνει, μεταξύ άλλων, όσους από τους πειρατές του χρηματοπιστωτικού συστήματος πιάνονταν με τη γίδα στην πλάτη. Μετακόμισε στο υπουργείο Οικονομικών της Γαλλίας και από εκεί στη διεύθυνση του κακόφημου ΔΝΤ. Ο προκάτοχός της σ’ αυτή τη θέση, Ντομινίκ Στρος-Καν, έγινε τραπεζίτης στο Λουξεμβούργο.

Από κοντά και ο Εμανουέλ Μακρόν, πολυεκατομμυριούχος, πρώην στέλεχος της τράπεζας Rothschild, πρώην γενικός γραμματέας Οικονομικών του προεδρικού μεγάρου των Ηλυσίων και νυν υπουργός Οικονομικών της Γαλλίας.

Στα καθ’ ημάς, η πρώην συγκυβέρνηση Σαμαρά-Βενιζέλου τοποθέτησε επικεφαλής στην κρίσιμη γενική γραμματεία Δημοσίων Εσόδων την Αικατερίνη Σαββαΐδου, η οποία διετέλεσε επί περίπου τέσσερα χρόνια (2010-2014) ανώτατο στέλεχος της ελληνικής Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Σ’ αυτό το διάστημα η PwC έστησε τις γνωστές συμφωνίες φοροαποφυγής των 343 πολυεθνικών επιχειρήσεων μέσω του Λουξεμβούργου. Η PwC είναι μία από τις τέσσερις μεγάλες ελεγκτικές εταιρείες (The Big Four), οι οποίες όμως δεν έκαναν σωστά τη δουλειά τους στη διάρκεια της κρίσης. Το 2010 καταδικάστηκε σε βαρύ πρόστιμο για πλημμελή έλεγχο των συναλλαγών της χρηματομεσιτικής βρετανικής θυγατρικής της αμερικανικής τράπεζας JP Morgan.

Η αλλαγή ρόλων όμως είναι αμφίδρομη, αφού ισχύει το φαινόμενο της revolving door (περιστρεφόμενη πόρτα) ανάμεσα στον ιδιωτικό τομέα των επιχειρήσεων και των κυβερνήσεων διεθνώς. Ο Τόνι Μπλερ μετά τη θητεία του ίδρυσε εταιρεία συμβούλων (Tony Blair Associates), έγινε διεθνής σύμβουλος της περίφημης JP Morgan Chase και του ελβετικού ασφαλιστικού ομίλου Zurich Insurance Group, αποκομίζοντας ετησίως τεράστια ποσά.

Ο πρώην Βρετανός πρωθυπουργός, Τζον Μέιτζορ, εργάστηκε στην τράπεζα του αμερικανικού στρατιωτικο-βιομηχανικού συμπλέγματος Carlyle, ενώ ο πρώην καγκελάριος της Γερμανίας, Γκέρχαρντ Σρέντερ, ο οποίος επί θητείας του επέβαλε την καταστροφική «Ατζέντα 2010» απορρυθμίζοντας την αγορά εργασίας, είναι σύμβουλος της τράπεζας Rothschild αλλά και μέλος του διευθυντηρίου του ρωσικού πετρελαϊκού ομίλου TNK-BP. Είναι επίσης πρόεδρος του εποπτικού συμβουλίου του ρωσογερμανικού κονσόρτσιουμ που ανέλαβε την κατασκευή και εκμετάλλευση του αγωγού φυσικού αερίου σε συνεργασία με την Gazprom. Τον Απρίλιο του 2014 υποστήριξε την προσάρτηση της Κριμαίας από τη Ρωσία.

Δεδομένων των παραπάνω γίνεται αντιληπτό γιατί οι κυβερνήσεις αρνήθηκαν συστηματικά να δημιουργήσουν ρυθμιστικό πλαίσιο για τον χρηματοπιστωτικό τομέα, ενώ, αντίθετα, έκαναν ό,τι περνούσε από το χέρι τους για να απορρυθμίσουν πλήρως την αγορά, δημιουργώντας ευνοϊκό πεδίο για τα κερδοσκοπικά παιχνίδια εις βάρος ακόμα και κρατών.

Σήμερα είναι αυτοί οι ίδιοι «πειρατές των αγορών» που δίνουν μαθήματα ηθικής σε χώρες και λαούς, επιβάλλοντάς τους αυστηρή λιτότητα και καταστρέφοντας ό,τι έχει απομείνει από την παραγωγική και κοινωνική υποδομή των κρατών. Ομορφος κόσμος, ηθικός!

A response to misinformation on Nicaragua: it was a coup, not a ‘massacre’

There is so much misinformation in mainstream corporate media about recent events in Nicaragua that it is a pity that Mary Ellsberg’s article for Pulse has added to it with a seemingly leftish critique. Ellsberg claims that recent articles, including from this website, often “ paint a picture of the crisis in Nicaragua that is dangerously misleading. ” Unfortunately, her own article does just that. It looks at the situation entirely from the perspective of those opposing Daniel Ortega’s government while whitewashing their malevolent behavior and downplaying the levels of US support they have relied on.
